I've pre-ordered the MVP edition; as a Seattle Mariners fan, I need the steelbook Junior case!

I'm looking forward to RttS this year, or to at least explore the changes. Last year was the first year I didn't dedicate any real amount of time to RttS. Spent most my time in offline DD and a little franchise. I can't wait for release day; Best Buy says it will be delivered to me on the 27th or 28th!

I'm sorta bummed I have to wait until 10am for Gamestop to open up. The other thing that scares me is if they have the same issues last year with the servers -- took a week+ before things even began to stabilize.

Yeah, I hope the servers are stable from the start this year; last year was attrocious, especially because an online connection had to be made before the main menu even loaded.

Not really a Mariners fan but was stationed in Washington in late 90's and had the good fortune of seeing Griffey Jr play live, one of those rare talents that spans generations and fan bases that only come along every few generations.

That being said. I still buy tons of packs as I love the fun of opening them up


Sounds like the digital version will actually unlock at 9pm on the 27th. Now if I can get Gamestop to give me my HoF edition early on Monday...

I was planning on taking the 29th off so I could play all day (best buy is supposed to be shipping me my copy on the 28th), but I just had my APR scheduled for the 29th... *grrr*.... Maybe I'll get luck and receive it evening of the 27th.

I went and put in a pre-order on the standard version today. I don't want that steelbook. honestly, as a Cubs fan, I'm pretty disappointed Griffey is on the cover. Bryant totally should be, NL RotY to NL MVP and WS champion. Basically the biggest championship in sports, and the game's not putting it front and center? Lame.

I did my pre-order at GameStop because they were doing a bonus in trade credit if you did, and I needed to drop a few games off anyway. However, I might see if I can cancel it and flip it to Best Buy, where I'd get the 20% GCU discount. If I can, then I might go with the $70 one. That'd be $56 after GCU, rather than $60 at GS for the standard. Still haven't signed up for PS+ because I've had no online game to play yet, and haven't decided if one game is worth the price of admission for a gaming network. I've always preferred the franchise/team management stuff in sports games, so other than occasionally playing a friend who should be getting it, IDK if it's a good investment.

I did 2 pre-orders at Amazon last year. Then, once I got the bonus codes emailed to me, I cancelled one of the orders but kept the extra codes
That being said, I did the GS HoF edition this year. While not the best bargain as far as in-game bonuses are concerned, my son will dig the hat so it's a "sacrifice" of sorts I guess.

REALLY hoping that my GS allows for 9pm pickup on the 27th. If not I'll be PO'ed as the digital version unlocks on 9pm on the 27th.

Best baseball game ever made, and in fact best sports game ever made imo, nba2k can be arguably just as good but bottom line if your a baseball fan this is your best (only) option on consoles.

Beautiful graphics and very realistic sim play that makes you feel like your in control of a real baseball game

Meanwhile, I maintain I have been underwhelmed in early playing of MLB 16 (traded it in last week to wait on MLB 17). I really hate their pitching schemes. MLB 2K was so damned good on that front that it more than made up for the technical issues (offline, at least; nothing can make up for 2K's perpetually broken servers across their games). I'd love for The Show to just do whatever they need to get something to rival Total Control Pitching into their games, because it's not fun with the lame button presses or the unreliable analog method they use now.
If GS doesn't do a midnight release for The Show, I'll cancel my pre-order there and get it 20% off at Best Buy on Tuesday morning (since I'm off work).

Started up today, did a bit of playing to get the mode-specific Trophies (Quick Manage, MLB Network broadcast, Player Lock). Little seems to have changed, and something I'm frustrated by is the draft AI. I have always loved doing Franchise drafts in sports games, for whatever reason. I just love the team building. However, the AI in this is awful. Why Is Kenley Jansen, a closer, a top-5 pick? Why are something like 5 closers going in the first round? I have considered manually adjusting rosters away from closers so they don't get taken, it's so egregious. It's also a lame that picks are so formulaic. I can watch the first round go with probably no variance in pick order ever. In the MLB 2K games, you'd see variety in draft results, even in the top-10. I wish they'd have jockeying of pick selection with guys like Machado/Bryant/Donaldson/Arenado and Betts/Harper and Kershaw/Trout (it's ALWAYS Kershaw-Trout, never Trout-Kershaw).

Still, solid foundation, and it's baseball. They have potential to do so much more, as I've seen from the 2K side of stuff, so hopefully they leverage that someday...and get the servers up and running.

I started a new RttS player, since the servers were hardly available last night. I got a connection just long enough to claim and open my 20+ packs, which, of course, produced absolutely nothing of value. Oh and the intro for the game this year is stirring; I absolutely love it. Also, the new broadcast team is a very welcome change from previous years.

Game's servers are sobering up a tad, got my loyalty rewards. 3 pieces of equipment, a sponsorship, and a gold Matt Carpenter card. Haven't redeemed my LE stuff yet though.

Yeah -- in the mornings they are smooth as silk.
Last night though -- brutal. Took a min+ to go from screen to screen. Played a game against CPU, then got "disconnected from server" message so my game (once again) did not count. Probably 1/2 of my games haven't counted. NOt happy.

It's odd that the "exchange" mission cards are not sellable. I don't get that.

I'm starting the team epics and have completed Tampa Bay and Baltimore. Even on rookie, with as rusty as I am, I'm actually losing games to these teams. I think it might have been the fisheye catchers camera, though, as I lost a game to Boston 2-0 (Knuckleballer Wright vs Knuckleballer Wright--I did get that Same Name Shame trophy though), and then in the next game, after changing the batting camera to The Show 16, I hit 8 home runs, 3 each by Trevor Story and Adam Duvall and won the game 12-0.

Yeah, i couldn't play well with that camera. I use zoom, but I know people hate that one too.

I assume you mean "finished" you mean stage I?

It's a lot easier than the OF, as it slows down for highlight plays that give you more points, so I'm fine with the position shift. The showcase stuff is really stupid though. I went in, kinda sucked, and was taken in the 5th. I decided to go to school for a year, killed it in the next showcase, and went in the 6th. Didn't make sense to me.

I started Conquest a few days ago and stopped RttS entirely. This has me hooked, trying to play Risk in The Show is so cool. My team sucks because I sell off anything decent I get from a pack or drop right now. I've got Missions starter Dante Bichette at the top of my lineup because his Gold Mission is 40 hits in DD (more plate appearances at the top of the order).

I've pulled a couple of golds and a diamond thus far. Same as you, I've sold most of them for stubs and I'm just stockpiling right now as I don't need a super team to beat these low level missions. I sell almost ANY double I have. Right now commons are going for 100+ so may as well sell them while I can.

The key in Conquest is just play the Stronghold missions. You don't have to play the "Steal Fans" option as it just doesn't matter too much -- especially if your team is crappy and you can't play/win on All-Star+ rating
Head west and North and take up as much land as you can. Then you get so many reinforcements per turn you can pretty much just pile up and overwhelm any stronghold. As you take Strongholds, dont forget to check back in on the Conquest missions as there are hidden bonuses throughout the map too.

Take the space from my name, that's my PSNID. I haven't gotten PS+ yet though, just because with only one online-enabled game worth my time, it's harder to justify the price. I do have a 2-day trial available and a $10 gift code from getting my PS4P though, so I might use that for a month of PS+ to start. Haven't been on here in a bit to reply sooner.

I finished my Gold Starter from the MVP Edition (40 hits with Dante Bichette) yesterday and got a David Peralta Breakout. He's pretty nice, not great against lefties. He DID just hit a 3-run HR in this Conquest game for me though, so that's nice. I've added to my team some, but I've mostly turned cards to Stubs (coming up on 50K now). My best hitters are loyalty Matt Carpenter (85), Breakout Peralta (85), and Neil Walker (82?). I think my top-3 SP are all 82 as well--Iwakuma, Fulmer, and Pineda. Added Devenski to the bullpen because I wanted a stamina guy for longer games and put Felipe Rivero and Brad Brach in the late-inning roles (along with Cishek, who I got at the start).

I've now taken the MIN, CIN, and COL Strongholds. Working on TEX and CWS right now, probably PIT after (since I splintered out left and right towards the SW and SE).
