What stats are you focusing on increasing in training? I'm a switch hitter, so I mainly focus on L&R contact, L&R power, plate vision, and clutch hitting. Not sure if that is the best way to go. :hmm:

Nah, unfortunately not. I did not see that offer here otherwise I would have grabbed it, since I bought the game only a day or two after release anyway. Sure would have been nice to get that head start.

I did but haven't used the credits yet. Not sure what I want to use them for..

If you still have the credits go to the community challenges. There was one on there that cost 1,000 stubs but if you completed it you get 5,000 in return. That way you could build your player up really fast

So it seems everyone's in love with RttS, but I'm one of the old Franchise mode stalwarts, in any sports game I play.

So for those of you managing a franchise, how are you doing?

Me, I'm about halfway through my first season as my SF Giants, a week from the All-Star break.

Right now, I'm 5.5 games behind the NL West leading Padres at 46-41. I've personally controlled probably 30 or so games to this point.

The Dodgers (bleck!) are about a game and a half out of first, and the Rockies are maybe 4 games behind me. So all in all, it's a very tight, very close, very competitive division (as in RL) and it has made each game a blast.

Notable moves up to this point:

--I fired my hitting coach and hired one of the premier batting coaches available sometime in June as my bats were pretty woeful (team ERA around .205). I've seen quite an improvement since, and Pence and Posey have both seen a big jump in averages and HR.

--SP Tim Hudson was traded to the Phillies for SP Kyle Kendrick. Hudson was simply not getting it done as my #5 starter, and Kendrick's contract is much easier on the pocketbook (less than $1mil a year vs. Hudson's $8mil) will hopefilly give me better free agent options.

--Also am quite happy I drafted a stud SP in the draft, Jorge Huerta, who's 19 with a rating already in the low '70s and "A" potential. Very excited to see what we can do with this kid.

This sounds pretty fun. I actually do enjoy the franchise modes in other games, but I think I am a bit scared of it in The Show since I don't follow baseball as much as I do other sports. I love the mode in FIFA, so maybe I will have to try this out at some point.

I'm totally focused on getting my player to the majors in RTTS right now though.

Makes me want to try Franchise mode.

So far I have two RttS players.

First is 1B who was converted to 3B in the A's farm system. I thought I'd be able to move up as a 1B but the A's are freaking stacked at that position. Got promoted to Triple A recently playing for the River Cats. Around a 73 overall right now, .300 hitter with a ton of hits but few RBIs and even less HRs. I'll probably have to ask for a trade as I don't see myself overtaking JD.. or move back to 1B as my player improves.

Other guy is a pitcher for the Giants. Went from Double A to Triple A and right after the All-Star break, made the majors as the #5 pitcher after the Giants traded Hudson and someone else for Utley. 6 starts so far, 5 complete game shutouts and one no-hitter (would have been a perfect game but I couldn't catch an infield popup to save my life). Just hitting 100mph on my 4SFB.

I find rtts kind of boring at times. My player sucks anyway and I don't play so often which means changing positions would throw me off at times.

I still play this about every day, at least one rtts game I'm thru the first season and just now starting the second one. I pitch for the giants so I bat to and it's a struggle to get your stats up for hitting and pitching at the same time. No gone runs yet but I've gotten some pretty solid hits even tho I have to get a good pitch and wait on it to get on base. I really like the game its pretty fun

You don't have to field. I don't field for my 3B/1B half the time.. I don't even baserun (until his speed/stealing is up to like 70 I won't).

The fielding is hard but once you get it down your golden. Many people put it on auto tho just because it easy easier that way. I personally don't like that because it's a sport and there will be errors but oh well

I used to be on auto, but I turned on fielding and base running (switched to trigger buttons, which helped a lot) a little while back and after taking a bit to get used to it, I am really enjoying it now. I do get frustrated with some errors, but I guess they are just going to happen at some point.

Just think of the button layout as a baseball diamond. It's really super simple.

Make sure you have it set to this. My settings were defaulted to fielder view when I started the game, so that button layout above was completely reversed making it super confusing.

Mine was like that too. I ended up changing mine to the other layout. Its much easier once you change it

What's this other setting called? I think my fielding is manual since I do actually have to press the buttons to throw to a particular base.
