Anyone know how I can change the throwing buttons? When I press X it throws to 2nd base (triangle goes to Home), which is awful and I keep making errors because of it. I can't seem to find anywhere to change it though. :\

KT

I'd like to do that as well. I thought they were mapped like the bases. X for home, circle for 1st, triangle for second, square for third.

It should be, but it's not. It's the opposite for me right now.

X goes to home on mine, but I'm not real sure about the others.

Very strange. Go into options and controls and see if you accidentally picked a different layout. I know in that section sometimes scrolling around you can change things without noticing.

Ah finally found it. Did not see the specific RTTS options, it's hidden in there. So annoying, but glad I can finally change it.

Thanks gents.

Yeah same here. Had at least a couple of throwing errors because of it.

How do you know where to go in rtts when you are a first base man? Just move the stick up or to the side to go to the next base? The orientation messes me up some time.

The controls are a little weird and take time to get use to. I wouldn't set it up the way they did that's for sure

Yeah I think I need to fiddle with the fielding camera. The biggest problem is when the ball goes past your field of vision (so goes past the base path) it switches your view, so you are running one way to the bag, then it flips the view and screws you up.

Maybe turning off the Dynamic camera would help that. There are so many damn setting it's hard to figure out what does what sometimes.

Yea I know what you mean. Have you tried just using r1 by holding it to run? And l1 to go back? I was watching some YouTube videos of someone doing that.

Yeah I was considering trying that setting out. You need to change it in the baserunning settings, but I have not gotten around testing it out yet. If you try it, let me know what you think.

Hmm I'll try tonite. There are so many settings. I don't see why holding one of the buttons will do that. They could at least have put a better tutorial in the game. For my first video baseball game it sure is a lot more fun than watching it live.

Yeah, I am coming back to the game after about 5 years (I think?) and I could have used a tutorial, or more tips throughout in the beginning. I still don't know a bunch of stuff, for example, does anyone know what the different coloured sections in the pitching box mean? There are red and blue sections and I am not sure what they are telling me.

It is funny how a game which is actually pretty damn realistic can be so much more enjoyable than watching the real sport.

The red and blue boxes are the batters hot and cold zones, so you have a idea where to throw it when pitching.
The game really does need a good tutorial, I have messed up so many times now. Fielding was the worst trying to throw it to first base and it would go to third because the buttons are ass backwards.

I have played a few games, and my problem is pitching. I need to read the manual, because I don't get that circle thing.

Yea don't use that. Go into options, user settings, change pitching control to metered. You will have a meter similar to a power bar that fills up and you have to hit x twice in between the marks to pitch.

You time it so when the circle gets smaller you press the button for better accuracy. I don't use it, I use classic pitching. In classic you select a pitch, aim it and press X to throw. If you hold X longer you throw harder but are less accurate. I hate meter, IMO it's worse than pulse because you have to time the meter for power on the upswing and accuracy on the backstroke as well which is harder than just timing the pulses.

The red and blue boxes are the batters hot and cold zones, so you have a idea where to throw it when pitching.

I've never had problems throwing to the wrong base. It's simple...the buttons are like the infield. X = home Triangle = 2nd base etc. That's as simple as it gets. Hold the button longer for a harder throw, but I turn off the throw meter as well.

Actually the more I think about it, anything with a meter makes things unrealistically hard. I've missed a runner at first many times because I was looking at the meter and trying to throw hard. Turn it off and just press circle and hold it and I never have that problem.

One minor annoyance is they don't use the Marlin's retractable dome in the rain. If you choose rain, they keep the top open and everyone plays in the rain. In reality they would close the dome and keep the field dry.

What diffculty settings are you folks using? This my first baseball game in probably 10 years so I'm just on Rookie.

I'm on Veteran Timing hitting and Dynamic difficulty for Pitching.

If you're new to the game, start with beginner and then move to dynamic. Dynamic difficulty does a nice job ramping difficulty.

I prefer pulse pitching to metered pitching.

I don't get pulse pitching at all. Maybe I'm just not quick enough with the reflex because the damn cirlcle moves in and out quickly, or it did when I was playing before I changed the settings to beginner.

For the meter all I do is wait until it gets to red or near red and hit x. Then when it goes backwards hit x again as quickly as I can. I have gotten more strike outs with it this way.
I don't see the meter when throwing the ball around the field. That's done with just hitting x. I'm not sure if there is another setting to turn that on or off. Classic is probably the easiest if they had explained all the options better in the menu.

There is an option for throw meter when fielding. Pulse pitching is simple but you gotta be fast. You can also add an outline to the pulse circle which sorta helps.

I am thinking of switching to zone hitting because with timing only the CPU often chooses a bad area to aim for and I pop out or hit a grounder. If I learn to aim and predict the location myself I think I can so better on offense. Gonna have to practice it.

Yea I've played some exhibitions with my friend and even if you have timing hitting it switches it to zones for online exhibitions. I don't really know how to aim and hit at the same time because often if it's a bad pitch there isn't much you can do. I'll have to mess around with all the options again.

Pop outs and grounders happen, some times you just don't get good pitches to smash out the park. I use timing for hitting and have no complaints but I look at a good amount of pitches.

My friend has been on the fence about getting a ps4 so I let him borrow mine and my games Saturday night, i'm trying to get him to buy one, the more people I know online the better but I have to say I miss playing the show. Its been a long weekend and I didn't have time to play anyways so I figured what the hell let him borrow it.
