I also notice on rtts, for base running you don't have to do anything at all. Your guy will run by himself, stop by himself if it's a foul. A lot of times I'm just sitting there watching and the pitcher will throw it to whatever base I'm at and gets me out because I can't get back on base? He steps off without me pressing r1 though. So I don't think you actually have to do anything on base running unless you want to steal, in that case just push the stick forward.

I've never had problems throwing to the wrong base. It's simple...the buttons are like the infield. X = home Triangle = 2nd base etc. That's as simple as it gets. Hold the button longer for a harder throw, but I turn off the throw meter as well.

The issue was in RTTS the default setting was to give you the fielding view of the bases, so the button were flipped (X was second, triangle Home, etc.). It was like you were facing home plate, which you were I guess, but it really just made things confusing and caused me to make a bunch of throwing errors.

I had actually turned off base running (everything that happens after the initial hit) for a while and focused on fielding and hitting because the base running was driving me nuts. I turned it on for a bit last night and of course I am sitting on 2nd, doing nothing, then bam, picked off. I tried to get back to base but could not. Do I just need more speed or something? If that's the case, then why the heck is taking such a big lead off the bag?

I turned it off again after that. Going to try the trigger buttons tonight to see if that's any better.

I always just lean back towards the base with the stick until the pitch is thrown. I grabbed the show yesterday and it was pretty, but they have not changed anything gameplay wise for the last couple years. I fired up last years show on the ps3 and everything, including the animations are the same.

By turning off the base running do you mean he just runs by himself? Because that's what my guy is doing, maybe my settings is off but I'm not sure I ever changed that when I first started rtts.

Not exactly; I mean you still do the initial running, so when I hit a ball deep into the outfield I still need to run my guy to second, but then I am done. Everything after that is just automatic; it shows you a screen with the line-up and the diamond, all of the stats etc. and runs through the plays (you can skip through them) so I just don't have to bother trying to get from 2nd to 3rd then to home. Saves me a lot of aggravation right now.

I will try base running again at some point, but I like just focusing on the hitting and fielding, especially since my guy is a big slow power dude and is not really much for base running anyway. For now, it stays off.

This is more out of curiosity than anything, but have any of you guys tried playing as a catcher? I'm curious if they've done anything to make being a catcher engaging or if it's just automatic. Maybe you can't even be a catcher.

I have Catcher/3rd as my alternate position so you can definitely play it. Have not tried it yet, though I am tempted to have a conversation with my Manager and ask for a move so I can try it out. Seems like it would be super hard.

I got my first message last night about talking to the manager if I want more play time or something. I think I'll check it out and see if I can switch up the play style too. Sometimes I get bored since I don't even bother to steal bases I just watch as he goes from first, second, so on and sit there just incase he gets tagged out.

Pop outs and grounders happen, some times you just don't get good pitches to smash out the park. I use timing for hitting and have no complaints but I look at a good amount of pitches.

My friend has been on the fence about getting a ps4 so I let him borrow mine and my games Saturday night, i'm trying to get him to buy one, the more people I know online the better but I have to say I miss playing the show. Its been a long weekend and I didn't have time to play anyways so I figured what the hell let him borrow it.

I know how baseball works...that isn't the point I was making. The CPU often picks a bad zone to aim for. When you use timing even if you get perfect timing you can just tip it even on a ball in the zone because the CPU aimed too high or too low. When you control your own location to aim, you have a better chance at a solid hit if you get good enough at it.

I don't have any trouble with hitting what so ever using the timing. I haven't played a bunch of games maybe 10 but I haven't noticed what your talking about

Yeah I have been doing pretty well just timing my swings. Not as much power as I would have hoped (6 HRs through 33 games; was hoping to have a small handful more) but I am working on that.

You'll see it happen sometime. I sometimes get perfect timing but the aim is off.

On another topic, does anyone know how to turn off the yellow arrows that show the direction the ball will travel on a curve or cut? For playing two player games it seems like it would give away your pitch or does it turn off automatically in two player.

Sounds good, I'll accept when I get home tonight. I actually have no idea how any of the social stuff works; not even really sure how to join a friend in an online game.

I played one online game in FIFA with some random person, but that's about it, and I could not get my voice chat to work at all. :hmm:

I've played several online exhibition games and havn't heard anyone chatting. I got that little cheap mic headset out that came the PS4, but still no results. I am really hoping the game allows voice communication.

For the record I'm having a blast with online exhibition. I won 2 games this morning. Have hardly touched RTTS.

Ah, maybe it just does not work on this game. Weird, I assumed it worked on all MP games and that is was sort of the point of having the jack right on the controller.

Start a party chat, then go into the game. It should keep your chat session open when the game is running as well.

One way I know how to join a friend online is go to game rooms and tell your friend to join the same game room. From there you can challenge him to an exhibition. I'm not sure if you can play with a group though.

Man, that would be pretty sweet if you could get a handful of people on, each person playing a different position. I doubt it works that way unfortunately.

I'll look into it tonight and see what options we have but it won't be for a few hours so if anyone wants to do it first go for it

Some of the things that happens in this game while playing online is so hilarious. Take for example, I was playing an online exhibition game this morning and around the top of the 8th bases are loaded. The count is 3 balls and 2 strikes. At this point you know your opponent is probably feeling a little antsy. But who knew he would swing at a ball scale wise 3-4 feet outside the strike zone. He stretched so hard it looked like he was about to fall over. Your out!!! lmao. I still have this image in my head. Now if only I had it recorded.

I have as much fun pitching as batting. it's a blast playing mind games with people online.
