I'm an A's fan, not an Astros fan. FWIW Astros claim a handful of other teams also stole signs using technology. I didn't realize that Alex Cora consulted for so many teams all at once.
I certainly don't condone a win at all costs philosophy. However, this isn't the NCAA. Has any major pro sports league ever "vacated" a title? It's not like Rob Manfred is going to declare the Dodgers the 2017 champs, retroactively.
ESPN explained why MLB is not going after players; it doesn't want to fight appeals from the player's union. Also, many of the cheaters are now on different teams. So punishing players opens up a different can of worms. As with the NCAA, a case of lack of institutional control is obviously a serious offense.
Agreed ... And this coming from a Met's fan who would no doubt be looking at serious problem's considering our new manager is right at the center of the controversy.
What's so tough about that? They could fire him with cause (and go hire someone like Mike Scioscia).
