Yummy. =] I'm buffing and polishing it in a few weeks, as soon as it stays warm out. I need new window molding bad, too.

The 2.5L KLZE from the Mazda's will fit. It requires some odd parts...but it'll fit.

I've been tempted to consider this for the summer.

I have a 00 ZX2 also, ~90k miles, hence the curiousity.

Yea, I did the swap myself.

I had an ATX with 103k on it. I was a little too ...spirited... with it, and didn't have a cooler on it. It started slipping, then I lost first and reverse. I pretty much killed it myself.


I put a 5speed in it after that. Did everything on my own.

Very nice, sounds like a good bit of work there.

How much did that cost you?

I had to buy....

1/2" Breaker bar ($35)
Various sockets (~$30 or so)
Random things (Torx, new pry bar....etc...$25 or so?)
$90ish

Transmission, and all swap parts
$450, shipped.

Fluids...Brake...tranny, anti-freeze...
$25

Ball joints, tie rod ends, alignment, brake pads
$150

It was a lot....the tools I can keep though, so it was a good investment there. The ball joints and brake pads weren't needed, but I replaced them just because I had my car all the way apart - it was just easier that way.

It all bolt together, some fabbing needed when I snapped a bolt off or whatever, but it was a direct bolt in.
