my college line sucked, because they limited everything

my cable line is about 3x as fast

HTTP traffic was limited to about 700k

but we uploaded at like 2Mbit

I get somewhat more bandwidth now in college than I had with cable.

What I really like are the lower pings in games, I can get 30 or less sometimes.

But best of all is the stability. Cox was awful in that area.

I go to UofI (the fastest connection in the midwest) but they limit down speeds to 1MB/s

The connection at our local community college is blazing fast. When I took a class there, I uploaded a 6 MB file in about 4 seconds. :shocked:

My college bandwidth is incredible, I get up to 2mbps, but I ping any game at about 500ms, so its a trade off. Good thing I pretty much quit gaming before school.

Upload speeds at Uni's are much faster because they are hardly ever used, therefore there is no need to restrict them, however DL speeds have to be regulated to ensure that important traffic is not bogged down. I know my uni used a hardware device called packetteer to allocate bandwidth to different services, segments.

I can peak at 3MB but depending on the server I usually get 600k to 1.2MB.

Torrents are fvcking sweet though..

and I could definitely host a game serve, I uploaded at around 3mbps to my friend on cable back in Charlotte.
