Rouges are good up to level 50. Right now rouges are broken at level 50 and are kind of pitiful. Rouges are the easiest kill I have in PvP. A few of my friends went rouge and now are making alt characters because they are so bad right now in pvp. Hopefully they will fix this, but i would not recommend a rouge at this time.

Yep, I agree with this statement. I knew this going in though from reaching 42 in beta and friends in alpha. Most rogue damage just doesn't scale well enough. Very few of the souls have any way to counter healing of any sort. We can make it 10-20% less effective, but we need to make it 80% less effective for our current level of DPS to get through the healing since most rogues are sustained DPS.

The only burst DPS rogue build is the sab. But that soul was nerfed way too much too early. I knew it would be too and it sucks. It's still not bad when coordinating with another sab to take down someone. If you are on vent with another sab, you both load up 5 charges and blow at the same time you will insta kill just about anyone out there.

Still, it takes two people coordinating to kill one as a rogue. There are a couple of ways to get them solo 1v1, with a couple of sab strats I made above, but they rely on critting just the right amount sometimes. Otherwise they are going to heal faster and kick your butt before you can do anything.

Is there a cool Cleric Ranged DPS build?

Cabalist + Sentinel + Inquisitor imho.

Cabalist is more geared towards AoE DPS, Sentinel is more geared towards healing, but has a good amount of single target nukes. Inquisitor is kind of a mix of single target nuke, dot and a wee bit of AoE too.

Inquisitor has massive ranged damage potential I believe, Purifier also to a degree?

How will my E8400 @ 3.6 and HD4870 handle this game? Playable? Barely playable? Decent?

Running an E8500 @ 3.16 and a 5850 @ 1680x1050. Settings are medium but lighting turned down to 2 or 3. After that change and updating all my drivers I get decent performance now. Slows down considerably during large rift battles but it's decent overall, definitely playable.

Should be just fine on default settings. Default settings are just as gorgeous as maxed settings.

Purifier is a support/healing class. It has ONE nuke in the base skills. The rest is all heals/buffs/support.

yeah the difference between default and max settings isn't much. i'd leave AA off... it kills frames hard. or just do the edge smoothing AA. it takes away some of the jaggies and doesn't cut your frames in half.

most of the settings are just the various eye candy like grass/ground clutter, shadows, etc. not really graphical improvements. other than upping the AF.

i've got most of them turned off or turned way down and i don't really notice a difference.

So didn't get to play in the last two days, but got to play some today and got Prestige 2 rank for pvp. Was all happy, bought 2 rings, gloves, and boots. Go to dye the gloves and boots, and wtf you can't dye prestige gear, how freaking lame grr!

Anybody else starting to really hate people who have their public grouping turned off? I was running some of the later quests in Stonefield yesterday and there are quite a few that have you defeating named mobs who aren't elite but do have a ton more health than regular mobs. They aren't hard by any means, easily solo-able, but they have respawn timers of a few minutes it seems. I kept running up on people fighting these bosses who had their public grouping turned off. Since they are basically ruining one of the coolest features of Rift and are making me wait for a few minutes for it to respawn, I refuse to help them. Not that they need it, but it makes me feel better.

I did make it up to level 25 last night and I'm still enjoying myself. I do wish there was more variety in the quests though. I'm guessing 75% of the quests so far are collect 10 of this or kill 12 of that. I'm also starting to get annoyed by getting a batch of quests and going to an area to complete them, turning them in, and then getting 3 or 4 more quests that make me go right back to basically the same area to kill more stuff. Oh well, it is what it is.

I also finally built a healing role on my cleric, so I hope to give that a shot at some point this weekend.

I turn my public grouping off. I was closing rifts in Silverwood (noob zone) and lvl 50's kept coming in and closing the rifts and joining my public groups. Probably for their guild quests and such.

Put a second role on my mage, so basically switch from Warlock/Necro/Chloro to Storm/Dominator/Elementalist. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than the previous build. Took me a while to realize that a good chunk of the stormcaller attacks are AoE and require a "situational awareness" to use properly. It's far quicker to DPS now, plus there's a lot of knockbacks to keep you going. The elementalist pet is also far and away better for pve than the necro pet, it actually taunts. I do miss being able to quickly convert health and mana back and forth... that's about my only complaint about this build is it is not mana efficient. Also, while the massive amounts of AoE damage are nice, it's not really terribly useful in pvp.

My highest level toon is 19 and it's a Paladin/Reaver/Void Knight...

I just can't settle on a toon...I just can't seem to find my...erh...calling...

Clerics are cool but they lack the "something"...same with Warriors...
Mages, seems fun but I just don't know...

What i'd like for my main:
- Some melee capabilities, not his main DPS source but can take a beating and give one once they come close
- I love DoTs! I hate channeled spells!
- I want something fun!

So my 2 options and maybe you can help me based on your experiences with those souls:

- Cleric: Inquisitor/Shaman/Cabalist or Inquisitor/Druid/Justicar
- Mage: Warlock/Elementalist/Archon or throw Chloromancer in a build...

Warrior I find them lacking in the fun factor, same with Rogue which is the class I NEVER play in RPGs.

See, I don't understand why'd you do that. Does it really matter, as long as they're helping? It's the same end result.

The only time I'd ever consider turning that off is if I noticed people joining my group to get credit for a kill, but not helping and running along, only to leave the party once they got the credit. But I've not seen that at all yet and it would have to happen quite a bit before I'd get annoyed enough about it.

Erm... you may want to check real hard. A lot of quest mobs you don't have to be in a group to get kill credit for. Something I learned along the way - if you put some DPS on the mob even if it's already been tagged (as in really put in effort, not just one shot), often times you'll get quest credit for it.

Well, I've tried that a couple of times but I've not gotten credit. Or maybe that was on the quest bosses that needed to be looted for something. I can't remember.

Yeah, if there's a loot item involved, you're screwed. But if it's just "kill mob X" or "use item on mob X" or "use item on corpse of mob X", you can get away with all of those without actually tagging the mob.

I've run into some more interesting quests here and there, but most of them are exactly what you describe. It helps to think of solo questing as a combination of killing time waiting for other stuff (rift invasions, waiting for a warfront to start, running a dungeon) and straight up XP and gold farming. The one thing quests have going for them is the cash rolls in pretty well. On top of that, you can gather nodes or artifacts as you go.

Anyways, I try to break up the solo quests with other activity and that helps break up the monotony. It's too bad the quests aren't more interesting though.

Agree on the second point, but not the first as a matter of personal taste. My warrior feels like two different characters: the paragon-heavy dual wielding whirlwind of death, and the straight up paladin/reaver PvE tank. I haven't even tried riftblade (mage in plate), or void knight (PvP healers fuel me with their tears) yet.
