Once each week seems excessive. They should just leave it at once every six months (with a 30 day regret option to cancel the transfer).

Also gives the lie to the resources need to frigging do transfers from other MMO's that charge you. Trion could offer a free transfer every six months to a year with extra transfers costing money and customers would be very happy.

This is a bad idea unless you can only go from high pop to low pop servers, otherwise the low pop servers will become worse.

that is my idea to. If you see people on low pop servers struggle offer them the posibility to move servers and close the shards until you think it's adviced

My guild moved a couple weeks ago from our server because the population was skewed something horribly like 7:1 in the Defiant's favor. The guys in end game content were having a miserable time because they couldn't do any zone events whatsoever since they were outnumbered all the time.

Well, I play on Keenblade on the Defiant side and some of the guys I play regularly with are pretty good if anyone wants to head there. Definitely decent population.

I think my time in rift is quickly coming to a close. i find myself logging in and just standing around.

the people in my guild i played with seem to be missing and the ones that are there end up plying alts because we don't have enough people to do a dungeon and we all hate getting random people because they usually suck ass.

I did try to make some alts and i just can't find one i like and it just seems pointless to level another character only to be in the same spot.

I'm not trying to convince you to keep playing if you don't want to, but it could be that people are proactively rerolling on more populated servers. Also, summer weather is here, it's school graduation season in the USA, and MMO populations always seem to drop off at this time of the year. With transfers you (and maybe your whole guild!) can move to greener pastures on a more populated server.

As far as rolling an alt goes, I'm with you on that not being the answer. I've tried it and just not been able to get over the hump of leveling one. There's no new leveling content to experience after getting to 50 the first time so it's like... why bother?

As far a levelling an alt goes, it's an interesting comparison to other games because a lot of people have multiple level XX chars in other games, even if there are 10+ classes. But with only 4 in Rift, and you being able to reset your souls, once you level up 4 toons you have every class in the game.

I did create a character on a high pop server last night to see what it was like. Wow, that was a huge difference! There were more people in the starting area of freemarch than are in sanctum at peak times on my server. Even the very first zone you start out in had a ton of people.

There's just not enough to do at end game now except run dungeons or do dailies for faction and that gets boring after awhile.

This is definitely a bad time of the year for MMOs. We had to do a major recruiting binge to fill in for people who are on vacation/away. We can still only get 20 together for gsb only once a week, maybe twice if lucky. Still haven't set foot in RoS and only tried the 10mans a couple times.

I'm sad about the t2 nerf but with all the people complaining about it on the forums I have a feeling Trion will come out with some t2.5 or t3 5man dungeons at some point. I do enjoy the 5man dungeons more than anything since raids can get a bit stressful. I still need a few tank weapon drops from DSM and need more inscribed stones for my tank essences from raid rifts so there is still plenty for me to do.

Since there is nothing left for me to get in 5mans for my dps slots I'm finally getting the tanking role down with my rogue and it's damn fun. With 51rs/8bd/7rng I got 11k hp, 164 toughness and 18% dodge with recent Shambler Skin Tunic from gsb and purple shoulders from RD. I could get 12khp if I swapped bladedancer soul with bard but you give up too much in defense. Once I get those essence slots upgraded to purples I should be pushing 11.3k and 10% parry and 20% dodge.

Anyway, I'm hoping the EQ2 dev influence continues with more side quests. That's what this game really needs in addition to more 5mans. In EQ2 some of the quest lines are insanely long but very fun.

Yea that part does suck I got gnarladon in two days but it took me a week before I got Cinderon. Same for a few other guildmates. Just need to be patient and hopefully an alt will be in Silverwood at the time and inform you. That's how it happened for me while I was in AP one of the guild alts said "CINDERON!" and I soul recalled ASAP to Ardent Glade and got over there in plenty of time to get a hit on him.

I read on the forums that they are looking into a way to fix that part of the quest so we'll see. Once you get past that it gets fun except for the buggy Marshal Kevdorras which you might have to kill 5-7 times ugh, it happened to me and four other people I helped.

I'm not into collecting and I agree the daily quests are boring as hell. For me the 5mans is what I still enjoy even after the nerfs but I sure hope they come out with new and difficult ones quickly. We have had a few new people and people rolling alts in the guild so I do t2s to help them get equipped and for the social aspect. 5mans are fun to goof around in whereas raids are more serious and you only want 1-2 people talking in vent during a raid.

Anyone beat Uruuluk yet? We can get him to 30% steady but we just fall apart at that point due to the ridiculous amount of damage.

I finally hit level 50 after exactly 3 months of being on the game. Luckily for me I saved all of my crafting supplies, and did the crafting deliveries so I was able to craft steeled leather rare armor for my defiant rogue. Also bought me a level 50 mount. My character went from looking like complete crap to not half bad today! I have another month left of my sub, so bring on the level 50 content!

I'm running a "hybrid tank", pally/rb/reaver, and I told them from the outset that I was a "light tank". The healer bitched 3/4 of the way through FC they healing me was a "pain in the ass", and instructing me to equip one of the drops that I picked up along the way.

Needless to say, only ONE death (not a wipe) through the whole dungeon, which was a ranged patrol add... which I promptly rez'd... they "let" me tank 80% of the final mob then stop healing me, and ultimately kick me from the group before the final loot on the boss... and then complain at ME about having a WoW attitude when I told them I didn't really give a shit about whether they approved of my spec or not.

So much for people in Rift being more mature. Oh, yeah, they also kicked the other "pug" player who actually supported me. Guess what, they were all in the same guild. We weren't. Go figure.

Well, it seems decent so far. I started off with the 7 day trial, played for a couple of hours then noticed the 50 percent off sale. I'm sure I'll get enough enjoyment out of it to justify $30.

I think they were just being jackasses. I've never seen that behavior in an MMO. Granted I only tried WoW for a week before deciding it wasn't for me.

What are you guys doing for professions? Aside from just taking 3 gathering profs, what's the best way to make money?

I cancelled my account too - the PVP queues were extremely long. And deceptive. It would say "2 min wait" and then 20 minutes later I'm still queued. Since PvP is why I play these things, and the PvP isn't even very good in Rift, and I spent a whole bunch of time waiting for any battleground to start, I quit. Overall I found the game to be ok. It reminded me a lot of Warhammer - which was a great game (especially the PvP) but Rift felt a lot like things that I had seen before.

Right now Runecrafter is making the most money on my server. Forager is not far off for mats for apothecary.

Welp, like every MMO Rift had reached its peak and slowly slipping toward the inevitable point of decline...my server went from full 700+ queue during headstart, to barely medium pop on Saturday night! Judging from my rapidly shrinking friendslist most raiding guilds are having serious problems with their attendance while smaller ones just crumble and disappear.

Gonna see how this upcoming "selected" server transfer will work out, it's freaking pathetic going from having Greenscale on farm to standing around for a hour on raid night only to disband because there aren't enough people......if we don't somehow get more able bodies before my sub runs out I might as well not bother renewing it
