Arty is very frustrating to play. I'm sure that all of the "nerf arty" cries impact the probability equations they build into the game.



I thought arty was hard to play too until I got on the Russian line and found easy mode.

If they don't make some changes to arty it will seriously kill the game as more and more people get to high tier SPG's. For me at tier 9 it's already normal for every other game to have 4+ high tier arty per side. Then once an hour or so you get those ludicrous games where half of each team is arty.

The game is no fun whatsoever when you spend the whole match hiding, because peeking your nose out at all means getting smacked by 4 artys. May as well rename the game to "World of Hiding from Arty".

i'm debating on buying a type 59, it's making a lot of credits from what i've read. it would be nice to get rid of my tier 5's that i use to grind credits with now

By my math, the 1,800 gold is worth $7.50 (measured at the $50/12k gold level), the week of premium is worth $2.43 (measured at 2500g/month), and the T2 tank and the 1mil credits are basically free.

Would it be safe to assume that you can add this to an existing account?

EDIT: I went and bought it to try, and it does add to an existing account. It's a decent deal if the million credits and the T2 are of any use to you. I'm pretty sure that the T2 tank also came with a free garage slot, and you can sell the T2 for another 150k credits. Nice.

1800 gold (value=$7.50)
1.2 million credits (sell T2 for 150k, value=?)
Garage slot (value=$1.25)
1 week premium (value=$2.50)
Total is about $11.25 excluding the value of the 1.2 million credits.

To get it, buy online then install the impulse software (like Steam). Go to my games, right click WoT and pull up "view registrations," copy the serial, and paste it into the WoT promo code page.

I would welcome a cap of arty per side, somewhere around 3. I do not want them to change the gameplay of arty, and I dislike the idea of tracers coming back. It really makes me believe it should be easy as hell to find arty if even a temporary tracer appears. Hrmm, trace line back until I find a bush, fire.

I got a few details wrong on that arty game, I only hit 14 out of 22, and it wasn't a T20 but a vk...

A maximum of two arty per side is sufficient I would think. At least that's the max I would like to see.

So this new 5x bonus this weekend...can anybody translate this into English?

Be aware that if you win your first victory before 4 AM PDT on October 14th, you will not be eligible for the 5x XP till after 5 PM PDT time.

"Before 4am" would seem to imply midnight to 4am, but that can't be right. Is it 5pm of 10/13 through 4am of 10/14?

yea i hope they limit the # of arty somehow, when you got 5-6 arty per side why even play

Sadly I have to agree. Even picking up my Tier 6-8 tanks I'm seeing a lot of artillery, and it's always the scary kind.

It hasn't quite killed the games I've had but it does leave you paranoid and frustrated.

They're saying that they turn the 5x bonus on at 4AM PST (7AM EST) on the 14th. For example, my daily bonus resets at 8PM EST (don't know if this time is the same for everyone or not). So if I go and play tonight after 8, I will only get the normal double bonus. In other words, if you want the 5x bonus for the 14th, go read a book or something tonight instead of playing.

this is for people who have tanks that only play them for the daily doubles. if you're grinding a tank, and are going to be playing it that night obviously you will just play as normal (take the 2x and keep grinding) as you would get way more xp than just the 5x for the first win of the day/night.

Arty is one of those types that is either worthless or dominates the game. Played a game last night. We had 3 arty, they had 5. We got wiped as their entire team just spotted us and the arty destroyed us. It wasnt really much of a game as we only killed two of their tanks.

But then other games there will be 4 arty per side and 5 mins in they are all destroyed by the armored nascar T-50-2's zipping by the front lines.

But overall I think arty would be a good target for caps. As it can literally destroy a tank if the shell lands on the top.

My experience is that the side with the better arty gunners always win. I drive mostly heavies (used to drive mediums in beta, thought I'd change it up and see what all the hubub is all about) and I hate it when I see 3 GW tigers on the other team. Basically if you are EVER in a non-city map, you can pretty much guarantee instant death the minute you get spotted in some non arty shadow areas.

One GW tiger shot can knock out 60% of your hp at tier 9 if it doesn't directly hit you. Think of 3 of those things shooting at you. /shrug

i was thinking about putting a spall liner on my 704 but with there usually being 3+ arty per side at least, it's worthless. i'm using rammer/vents/binocs right now

have you guys been in games where it's like 2v2 or 3v3? wtf is up with that? i know there's plenty of tanks to field a normal 15v15 game.......

Pish, of course you will be picked off if you are the only target. The key lesson to learn is to work in concert with others. If only one side pushes at a time, prepare to get peppered. If all groups push at once, there is an overload on the arty. They must identify a target that will be there for 10 seconds while the targeting circle tightens, pray the tank does not move enough to force the arty to swing around, AND then hope the enemy is predictable enough to be hit.

stag3, that happens because somebody (you or some other high tier tank) waited for the MM timer to run out, pulling in any other high tier tanks available. I dislike the way the MM just randomly assigns a tier to your tank as soon as you start MM (could be 11, could be 13!?) and then you sit there until other tanks are assigned those tiers, it seems more complicated than it should be. A more balanced solution would be if it started games every 15 seconds and just filled the game based on number of top tiers available to start the match and work its way down.

I HATE being in a tier 6 POS and see the distribution be 2 tier 10's each, 3 tier 9s each, crapload of tier 8s, then the hapless 7 and 6.

if you're in a heavy you'll get picked off regardless. Not to mention most "pushing" effects are subject to how cowardly your team is. I've driven up to draw fire from 2 tiger IIs while the rest of the team just waited like idiots, so needless to say I've learned to not give a damn if I'm sitting in arty shadows.

With most teams it's an accomplishment to convince them not to idiot rush all in the same direction.... working in concert? Would be nice.

It already started. I'm not sure on the exact time but I was pulling 5x at 0800hrs ( East Coast)

wow the tiger P isn't to bad, i have everything now but the last engine and turret. its raining credits for me with the double special this weekend

King Tiger... Man that thing is pretty damn good. Just got the 10.5 short on it and apart from the weak turret, I'm pretty sweet. Got called a noob lucker by a T29 that I quite frankly tore apart in one match. He bounced every time against my thick, sloped hull whereas I just ripped into his soft, fleshy hull. It's all about where you aim for.

yea gonna be a LONG grind for me as i need to unlock the vk4502 ausf a, as well as the tiger I so i can go down both the maus and e100 lines.

Wait until it is all decked out. I love my tiger 2.

Had a great game on campinova in my 59. Made it across the map to the docks (on building side) and got scout. I kept poking out and spotting for our side. They sent in a tiger after me but it was annihilated by mass fire. An IS put up more of a fight but died too. I eventually was sniped when I crested and mass fire took me down. Ah it was a good match though.

I also got a 552 m derp kill on campinova. Longest I have had with that gun. Poor KV had no idea I was even there.
