I got something similar in my kv-3 the other game, have no idea how I managed it.

I'm driving the 3002 DB and I'm wondering if I should get the top engine before researching panther and tiger. The tank is sluggish without it but I think I can manage... any thoughts?

Using the good turret + 88mm right now.

i skipped the DB and went straight for the panther during the 1/2 off sale awhile back. but from what i'm reading the DB is a keeper tank as it is fun and a brawler. if you can see yourself keeping it i'd get the engine, then begin researching for the panther/tiger.

i would get the top engine regardless as it will get you to places a little quicker, where you can do more damage by reaching a choke point/sniping spot earlier. if you aren't gonna keep it, that's a pretty tough choice, the 17k xp for the engine isn't to much of a grind. and you will need to grind out xp for both the panther and tiger so it would probably be worth it

If it was this weekend you were getting double credits in the KV-3 for the event.

I don't plan to keep the DB, I like the tank enough but the style is already very familiar to me. I don't mind the brawler gameplay, but I did the crawl through the soviet line and their series are all pretty much exclusively brawlers.

17k is almost a panther or a tiger, I kind of want to just get to the panther II or the tiger II to start playing around with those.

the panther and panther II sucked for me, but since they've been moved down a tier, they are probably pretty good now.

i can't wait to get my tiger II myself. i need 25k to unlock the tiger from the tiger P right now.

I did not like the Panther as the damage output is PATHETIC. Sure you will pen most anything and always hit but nothing will stay still for you to snipe 10 times. The interesting thing about the German line is that if you work multiple lines at once, the guns will be unlocked through other trees. My Tiger P and eventually Ausf A will have guns unlocked thanks to my Tiger and Tiger 2. My Panther 2 has the guns unlocked thanks to my Tigers.

Another thing that's been bugging me for a long time is the shells apparently disintegrating when they hit houses or brick walls but can apparently penetrate tanks and hit the one behind them. (never happened to me before, though some forum posts swear by it)

You have a little shanty made out of some wood. It is strong enough to stop a 75mm, 88mm, or 122 mm shell that rip tank to shreds. Why oh why can't I shoot through the tiny houses that I can run over?

Not talking about the immobile city structure in many maps, but the tiny little horse shacks/storage silos/cabins that you can run over. Doesn't it make sense to make AP shells penetrate those? I hate having to waste a shot because the little brick fence was in the way.

I have seen a shot go through my tank but I have not seen it go through and pen another. It was pretty cool seeing the shot go straight through my tank though!

Spent the weekend grinding out the IS on my KV-3. I basically started at 0 after the engine upgrade last Weds. Got the tank Saturday night and then spent part of yesterday getting the 100mm gun on the KV-3 so I can use it on the IS.

It is nice to finally have the tank. It is more manuverable than the KV and KV-3 and the turret is much quicker. The 85mm gun was weaksauce. The 100mm finally allows me to penetrate the Type 59 tanks that I have grown to hate more than my T-28.

Lowes are fine. They are slow and can be penetrated even by the 75mm gun on my PZIII\IV. The type 59 tank I have only been able to penetrate from the rear with the 107 on the KV-3. Unless the type59 is stupid enough to come at me butt first, It was just a beat down. The KV-3 isnt going to out manuever anything. Even the Object 704 is faster and turns better lol.

Looking forward to getting the IS upgraded. I think this could be the first truely enjoyable heavy for me. I didnt mind the KV, the KV-3 was actually not as bad as people made it out to be. But the fact they were both so slow made avenues of attack on certain maps basically off limits. Who wants to spend 10 mins driving around the map or up a hill only to be blownup by arty or gang raped by T-50s or Type 59s? May as well set up defensively or go an easier route. The IS solves that problem for me

Try driving the lowe. Makes the KV-3 look like a ballerina.

If you can't pen the type 59 with the 107 then you're not hitting it in the right spots. I don't play my kv-3 much anymore, but the only problem I have with that gun is the accuracy and the aim time. The penetration vs the 100mm is almost negligible. You can penetrate the type 59 almost everywhere except for the turret, even the front glacis if you get a good angle on it. I bounce a fair share when shooting at it from an angle, but that's mostly my fault and not the gun's. You shouldn't be shooting at angled parts of the tank anyways.

I *love* shooting T50s (actually I love shooting all scouts). I almost always aim for tracks as my first shot on any tank. As soon as they are tracked, they are DONE. Sure I get 0% crits and others get the kill but I don't care if it means there is one less enemy on the field.

Saturday night I was playing my Panther 1 because I hadn't played with it much since the tier change and I had moved onto the E-50. In one fight I was on the Westfield map and I took on a Panther 2 by myself. The Panther 2 had just destroyed a Sherman when we met. We were both at 100% when we met. He made the mistake coming at me head on as if to ram me and I didn't play it his way. I blasted his treads and tracked him and then I went to work hitting him in the ass and sides where he is weakest. I basically out played him. He got some shots in but I had him from the get go. I lost 40some % (47% I think it was) and he was dead when it ended. I found the whole fight rather humorous. I like the Panther 1 more now since they changed it's tier level. Its not made to brawl but in the right situations it can do it.

A spotter can be just as dangerous as any other tank on the field. I'll make a point of killing them if I'm not currently engaged with another tank. How don't care how small they may be.

sounds like he would've won if he just slugged it out with you without driving at ramming speed. Granted that tactic would work with a bad player on the receiving end.

The 5x XP and double credits (KV-3) weekend was very kind to me. I had lots of 60k+ credit games in the KV-3 and more than a few 6k XP games in various tanks. I didn't have any 95x credit games. Hacks! I finally got my IS at half price and I'm freakin rich now too!

I still kinda suck in my Chaffee but its getting more familiar. It's SLOW for a "scout" (it's not a scout people!!!). My POS T2 freebie tank from the recent deal can do 72km/h but the chaffee tops out at 55? WTF? She's elited and that 76mm gun is just awesome. It's like a machine gun and it is pretty reliable at penetrating higher tier tanks for about 110 damage per hit. I can't take more than a few hits but that's expected.

Yeah, I wasnt about to sit there and slug it out with him toe to toe. I would have lost it for sure. Once I had him tracked I didnt stop moving around him until he was dead.

Edit: I'm playing like crap today. I don't know what my problem is. I need to do some anti bad luck voo doo or something lol

I got an IS this weekend too when it was half off. I put the 122mm gun on it and it is an amazing tank! I really love fighting with it and it definitely puts the hurt on people.

I find penetration to be a problem at times but due to its quickness I'm able to usually get around that. It can be frustrating at times. But hitting someone with it and watching their health just vanish is awesome.

It's a damn fine tank and much more fun to use than a Tiger was. I just need the upgraded engine to see how it performs then. It's slightly sluggish now but still quick at 33kph and with a very good hard hitting gun.

I'm halfway to my VK2801. It's much more scout-like than the chaffe, which just seems like an oversized head and gun on a tiny tank body. Driving around at just 55km/h with minimal armor is scary. The chaffee does have a 500m view range with binocs coated optics (while moving!).

i've tried the 122 on the kv-3 and i just can't use it, reload it to slow and the tank is way to slow to peek and shoot. the 107 has saved my ass numerous times due to rof

Binocs only work when you're not moving for a bit.

yea binocs take 3 seconds to work, you can steer and move the barrel but you can't move forward or back i believe. i use binocs on my TD's and coated optics on my meds

Yikes, the technicality police are out.

I said binocs, but I meant coated optics. The 460m view range +10% is over 500. Who would put binocs on a vehicle that dies if it sits still?!?!
