I got an IS this weekend too when it was half off. I put the 122mm gun on it and it is an amazing tank! I really love fighting with it and it definitely puts the hurt on people.

I find penetration to be a problem at times but due to its quickness I'm able to usually get around that. It can be frustrating at times. But hitting someone with it and watching their health just vanish is awesome.

It's a damn fine tank and much more fun to use than a Tiger was. I just need the upgraded engine to see how it performs then. It's slightly sluggish now but still quick at 33kph and with a very good hard hitting gun. :thumbsup:

If you can put up with its weak (for T7) penetration and armor, it is a fun tank. The better engine makes a night/day difference too.

I said binocs, but I meant coated optics. The 460m view range +10% is over 500. Who would put binocs on a vehicle that dies if it sits still?!?!

Someone that plans to drive really quickly into a bush and park. I, for one, prefer the people that do that sort of thing over the ones that CHAERGE at the enemy and are dead before the arty can draw a bead.

VK2801 has a really good camo rating. Without a camo crew, just a netting and 80% crew, I can stay invisible while still to most tanks which are within 100-200m of me.

I just inch up from bush to bush in my VK2801 and laugh with glee as my team of invisible tanks obliterates.

Which leads me to the realization, that I cannot wait to get 100% camo crew on this tank.

I'd say you can't see any tank (minus the maus and jagdtiger) until you're within 100-200m due to invistank bugs but I'm just being sour from last night's games.

i've tried the 122 on the kv-3 and i just can't use it, reload it to slow and the tank is way to slow to peek and shoot. the 107 has saved my ass numerous times due to rof

Different strokes for different folks. I mentioned earlier in this thread that ROF does not really matter to me (exception: E8, or if I rebuy my loltraktor). I prefer the biggest, baddest, hardest hitting gun I can mount on my tanks. ROF means little to me as it implies that I will be in a dog fight and firing as fast as I can cycle my gun. It also implies that I have a fast enough turret and freedom of movement to keep the enemy targeted so I can use my maximum ROF. What I find is that this is not the case in heavies. I shoot, hide/reload, peek out and fire again. Additionally, I find that rarely will opponents sit there after getting smacked, so this makes the first salvo damage that much more important.

I have been neglecting my Tiger P. The problem that I am having in my German heavy lines is that while their weapon research is all done if you work multiple lines... there is little fun in getting to the next tank. My vk4502 will be the same as my Tiger II. I want to progress my Tiger II to the E75 more than going from the Tiger P to the 4502. It will be a vicious cycle of not wanting to progress the parallel line. At least I play it for the 2x exp so it *will* get there, but slowly!

My priorities are getting the BL9 in the IS3, the Ferdi unlocked, and unlock the E-50.

BL9 is a blast in the IS3, i don't have a ferdi as i went the 704 route. the E-50 is ok, i still prefer the T54.

i'm dreading the vk4502 A as well as regular vk4502 before the maus, those are gonna suck. i am looking forward to the tiger - tiger II - e75 - e100 grind tho.

I always hated fighting the normal 4502 because its front armor is hard as hell to pierce. Even the "weak points" I can't seem to penetrate reliably with the bl-9. Haven't fought many of them since I got the IS-4 though...

4502A to me is more of a slow heavily armored medium than anything else. To me the armor is great for fighting mediums, but I could fairly reliably penetrate it with the 100mm if the shots don't go wide... I imagine some of the other tanks would have problems with it though.

Finally researched the is-7 and just saving up credits to buy it now.

oh man i just got rocked by a t95 in my is-4, i still had 1700 hp and i had no other msg's that said i got hit by arty or anything, no ammo rack, it was really odd as the other team only had 1 arty.

Same happened to me. In my KT (1600hp) Came around a corner and saw a T95-oops too late! I was pretty much front on-slightly angled but he one- shot me. I was amazed as no other messages or damage was announced. I know the 155mm doesn't hit for 1600hp and couldn't figure WTF happened.

Sometimes I've seen the message below where So and So has hit ammo rack. But yeah, that one shot and then BOOOOOM. It always results in WTF moments.

It really sucks when it happens at full health. I've only been ammo racked consistently in t-44 (thats why it has a WAR now), but the 3601 came close. Got racked twice in less than 50 games in it. Meanwhile all the other soviet tanks I've never really been racked in.

I did rack an is-3 in my DB though. That must've been annoying for the other guy.

Arty loves to destroy my T34 in one hit. I dunno if it's because of the crap hull armor, or if it's the ammo rack. Must have happened 10+ times in about 150 games.

i have no idea where to hit a t95 from the front, even with my 704 90% of my shots bounce, i've tried lower hull, sides of the front, gun itself....

i know to hit it from the rear and sides, but when you are only given the front, where can you pen?

That's something I asked a while ago and everybody's general consensus is to hit it from the side or wait for arty, which doesn't answer the question at all.

Supposedly the lower part of the hull (a tiny horizontal slab) is vulnerable, and the "shoulders" have a soft spot near the ball gun mantlet thingy. I haven't found myself fighting many of these head on myself, and if I do I just turn the other way. It's generally easier to flank these than to try to penetrate it from the front.

In my Type-59, I racked another 59 and a 44 in one game. Full health to no health both times. Our team was happy, their team was crying bloody murder.

I bounce with my 203 HE rounds on a T95 front. I will not shoot at them unless I have a side/rear shot.

with the s-70 i just spam HE at the t-95 front. Takes off 9-10% every time usually, never bounced yet.
