I hide in arty shadows wherever I go just to avoid the pesky arty strikes. However on some maps you'll just be SOL like el haluf, campinova and that new map with the big valley and the broken bridge down the middle.

Meh, El Haluf is fine for arty. The battle in A1 is very iffy for arty to hit. The medium battle down south is bad for the left side with the switchback. Yes if idiots sit NEAR the a1 battle without going on the hill or hiding behind the rock they will get picked off. If they hug the rock though, arty has VERY limited angles. I love that map as a tank, I hate the map as arty (too boring).

Campinova has its own problems for arty. The good side for spotting (no houses) is also the crap side for arty support (shooting into houses!). Everybody knows where the safety is at the windmill and church so arty can only offer limited support for the rush to the north west.

As an arty, I love playing on Prokhorovka, Murovanka, and Erlenberg. My absolute most hated map is Ensk, followed by himmelsdorf and siegfried line.

People keep saying that about the KT, but I found it never bounced anything due to the tanks it faces. It was just weak. The speed didn't allow it to outmanuever anything and that gun is just pitiful. I really hated the tank and enjoy driving the IS-3 more than I do the KT.

I've found the E-75 to be much more survivable with it's armor. In a game I killed 6 in I went head to head with an IS-4, bounced all his rounds and killed him and the T-54 with him without taking any damage. Angling the hull and protecting the side of the tank makes it really hard to hurt.

I have the 12.8cm though so it makes a big difference, people fear that gun like on the Ferdinand and really changes how they approach an E-75 I think once they get a taste of it. It makes their willingness to line up a weakspot shot on an E-75 that much less and rushes shots, letting even more of those rounds bounce against that thick frontal armor.

But to each their own, I for instance love the IS-3 despite it's weak armor due to the gun and speed. Not too many would take it over a KT.

Ever have a tank that is just cursed?

Almost all of my tanks have the typical 45%-55% win ratio (52% overall) since they are played exclusively in random battles. My IS...39% after 102 battles. WTF? The matchmaker just loves to put that tank in total failure-prone teams. You all know the teams - 2 minutes into the match your side has 5-10 dead and you're doing your job properly by defending a choke point or pushing.

I HATE THIS STUPID TANK. Ok, the tank is not terrible, but it just seems to be drawn to total suck teams.

KV-3, fail teams and this tank just plain sucks. i've fully reloaded ammo twice so far today and i haven't been able to get my daily double LOL

El Haluf... you have about 1 minute to get to the arty shadows. After that it's a game of peek-a-boo where if you step too far out from the cliff you get smeared by 5 tanks and 3 arty shells. While I don't mind the fighting while you're under the shadow, once you're out it's a long trek towards the next cover and I usually get smeared, especially if my tank can't go over 30 kph.

I'm glad you're finding better luck with it. My brother is grinding through it right now for the E-75 and I support him with the IS-3. I just couldn't make it work though. That lower glacis is just such a very big easy to pen spot.

wow the s-51 is a beast with the 203
it's fully upgraded with a 78% crew and it's doing some major damage

Finally jumped back into the game today after my graphics card died last week. I took the chance to upgrade a bit. E8400 and 8800gtx became i5 2500k and 6950 2gb.

I don't seem to have much of an issue with my fps being completely murdered when shooting larger caliber guns anymore. I haven't tested it extensively, but generally in the decent number of games I played today I didn't notice my fps dropping extremely low, and I never had to scope out and back to make the game playable.

My IS was kicking ass today. The T29 was struggling a bit more, although I did get the upgraded turret for it. Having premium (from that supposedly EU only code) has been nice. Pretty much no matter what I make a profit with the IS/T29, which before was by no means assured. It isn't terribly noticeable, I'm not raking in the cash hand over fist or anything (although good games do make a tidy profit), but it is enough to make me not care too much when I miss with a 1k+ credit shell.

I just wish the statistics screen ignored the extra exp from premium, as it does for the daily double.

With my i5 2500k, I find it essential to set WoT affinity to core 1/2 or 2/3. With it set to 0/1/2/3 it tends to have more FPS dips, especially when I'm recording.

Interesting. I'll have to try restricting it to two cores and see if I notice a difference. I don't recall having any significant FPS dips, but smoother is always better.

Just keep it away from Core 0 and don't let it use only one Core.

Core 0 tends to be the one Windows uses for everything.

One core tends to make it sluggish and kill the sound.

Ah. I thought perhaps you had made a typo. Any reason for not letting it run on 1/2/3 and just 1/2 or 2/3?

Can't think of any. I use 1/2 because I run FRAPs on 3 when I'm wanting to record.

I wonder if the dual core cpu would have fewer fps dips? Guessing no but curious. Like you I have the 2500k but I don't mess around with affinity settings. I'd need a technical guide that is noob friendly to do it. LOL

Run WoT and Alt+Tab out of it.
Ctrl + Shift + Esc to bring up Task Manager.
Uunder the Processes Tab, find the WorldofTanks.exe file.
Right click and choose Set Affinity...
Remove the tick boxes from the cores you do not want WoT to run on.
Press OK.

Hope that is noob friendly enough

If you re-launch WoT, it'll launch with affinity for Core 0/1/2/3 again. I need to get that fixed

Got the T-20 elite now. Now I need to work on something else since I don't want to buy anything until the sale. My T35/85 is half way to the T-43 so maybe work on that one next.

I bought 4 slots and a Pershing. I'll probably buy two more slots before the sale ends. Stock Pershing is like most stock tanks. Kinda sucky. People seem to think going, gun, engine, tracks, then turret the best way to upgrade so I'm gonna try that method. Got the big 90mm gun. Now to work on the other upgrades.
