Anybody else finding that type 59's might be even more bouncy now? In my T32 using AP, I'm bouncing like mad off the front (obviously), but I'm also seeing a decent number of bounces on the tracks and the rear. These weren't facehugging shots so I can't see exactly where they landed.

I think my hatred of Type 59 packs is making me see things.

Armor normalization was changed in 7.0, so the effect of sloped armor is more pronounced. T59s, IS7s other very sloped tanks will get many more deflections off of their sloped surface now.

their sides and back aren't sloped. I've never really bounced off the sides with a direct shot, and if it bounces then it's because I have a bad angle on the armor. The front is more bouncy for sure, and the turret remains as strong as ever.

Played in the Slugger some more. Again, quite a few battles with no arty. I switch to the T-43 and first battle had five arty per side. After that battle it was about two arty per side. Not sure if its just my luck or there actually is something to less arty players below T8. I played my Lowe some and it had two to three arty per side in the battles. What do you guys think? There a change in arty numbers at a certain level?

There's a change in the actual number of people playing arty, not on a hard limit. I still see 3-4 arty battles occasionally but they're small and lower ranked. I don't see as many big ones anymore, but then I've been grinding the tiger II instead of my IS4. Only saw one obj212 and t-92 yesterday, and a few GW panthers and S-51s. Most arty I saw are small.

There are definitely less arty. When there are arty in a game, I'm seeing 2-3 per side. But...I'm seeing a significant increase in arty-less games. Whether this reduction lasts is another question.

I didn't like playing my arty much already, now I like it even less.

yea at the start of every round now, i tell my team i'm gonna be CB'ng, and once the other arty are dead, then i will start going after targets they light up.

have not had 1 complaint yet, everyone wants the other arty to be gone. for the most part i just stay out in the open now near base. it's a hair harder to see a tracer coming from the open as opposed to it starting at a bush and going out since everyone zero's in on bushes right away

I don't waste time trying to Counter Artillery. I just support my allies as best I can and as soon as I move I either advance or retreat for ~10 seconds. I also no longer hide as there is ABSOLUTELY no point, it is more about arcs of fire and knowing that there are no trees to knock down while I shoot and scoot.

What are they planning on changing?

See here: http://overlord-wot.blogspot.com/2011/04/full-tech-trees-revised-and-improved.html

Basically, KV is getting split into KV-1 and KV-2. KV-1 is the current KV w/stock turret. KV-2 is with the huge box turret. KV-1 leads to other heavies & KV-2, whereas KV-2 only leads to SU-51 arty. I think KV is considered OP right now so they're splitting off the most powerful KV variants from the normal tech path to decrease the number of people using it?

KV-3 is moving to tier7 & T-150 will take is place in Tier6.

IS-4 is becoming tier10; it will cap a different tier10 heavy path than IS-7. T-150->KV-3 starts the IS-4 line. KV-1S starts the IS-7 line.

But here's where it gets uber:
If you currently own a KV with the huge box turret *researched*, you will get a free KV-2 with 100% crew + free garage spot.

If you currently own KV-3, you will get a free T-150 with 100% crew and free garage slot.

If you currently own IS-4, you will get a free object-something w/100% crew + free garage slot.

So lots of ppl are hanging on to KV & KV-3 in their garages so they can get 2 free slots. (And IS-4 too but not too many have that one).

i just passed 100k xp on my KT, only 63k more i believe for the E75.
just passed 65k on my 4502A, still got 100k to go for the 4502P

and on the S-51 i'm at 90k now, so 1/2 way to the object 212. not sure i want to upgrade tho, same gun, just a little more health which doesn't matter as you always get 1 or 2 shotted anyways

Been running the tiger 2 for a while now and I can see why people say it's expensive. The 10.5 doesn't do as much damage as the BL-9 and the shells cost about the same. I also feel like it doesn't penetrate as much as the BL-9 did for some reason, could just be a psychological thing but the caliber of the BL-9 is larger. (122 vs 105?)

If I die and the team loses badly I'll usually lose money (7-10k) without a premium, otherwise I break even. If I win and don't die I can make around 10-20k. Got in a string of just absolutely stupid teams last night (or unfair teams) and it was just bad times all around.

by far the BL-9 > 10.5
i think they balance that with the KT having superior armor (front)

so i started rolling out my IS-7. and like everyone said if you lose the round you can lose 20-30k easily per battle.

if you win, you might make 10-20k if you take no damage

this is after repair/ammo costs

I've read about that - it was in game, then out, now back.

How does it work?

Hop into an SPG, get yourself set and look around the enemy base. If you spot a tracer, follow it to where it originated from. You now know where the enemy Arty is (or was if they're clever).

The tracer is fired from the gun position so aim a little back to compensate for the arty chassis and a touch further back to get it right in your sights and the trick is to do all of that, fire and hit the enemy arty which you almost always one-shot.

Can be easy, can be impossible but *extremely* rewarding if you knock out all of the enemy arty and can focus 100% on just shooting tanks.

EDIT: After writing this, first M12 match of theday, on Mines I was whizzing between the known arty spots searching, caught most of a tracer, saw where it was coming from. Decided to take a random punt at a bush, GWP dead... My M12 now had free reign to sit in one place and lob lots of shells. 2.2k doubled win

One thing I like about it is gettign to aim at one thing. I'll try it on my hummel.

it's relatively easy as most arty players still have the same mindset to go hide behind the nearest bush. until they start playing smarter, it will be a open season on arty

it helps me a lot since the s-51 reload is 40 seconds, so i can get 2 shots off before having to move

Counter arty also is much easier on certain wider angle spg's. The s51/212/gw tiger have a very narrow firing angle. As such they must move and refocus to counter arty. Unless the enemy arty is a complete idiot, they have moved a bit and you will never get a shot at their spot. GW Panther, hummel, most american arty have wider angles. Minimal aim time to target a specific spot. Thus you might catch the opponent quickly.

That sounds awesome. That's also closer to what really happens in war. Counter battery is a huge component to warfare. I'm glad it's in to help offset the power of the artyboys.

More variety and tactics for play is always good.

Oh it is awesome. I fired off one shot at a Type 59 rushing up the hill, did 30 seconds of tracer hunt whilst I reloaded. Didn't spot him so I hit a JagdTiger twice, went back tracer hunting and spotted it. Took a wild guess and scored correct.

Now instead of moving after every shot, I could stay still and hit anyone or anything I was able.

After my initial volley, I told my team I was commencing counterbattery operations. A cheer went up when I told them that the enemy arty was neutralised.

I think we steamrolled 15-4.
