I never actually checked, but does the daily xp bonus also apply to your crew?

At least with 2 wins at x5 xp I should have enough xp to get me out of that horrible tier 4 light french tank. I really wish the x5 bonus was credits and not xp at this point. Damn x5 credits on a win would be pretty damn nice.

started experimenting with other tanks tonight...my only previous experience was with the MS-1...

Su-18 - I thought I would like playing artillery but man this tank sucks. Slow ROF, takes forever for shells to get to target, not very accurate. I presume other SPG's are not like this, or my crew sucks. Played 3-5 rounds and was over it.

T-25 - ooooooooh yeah light tank action. Got 3 kills my first game and was able to max out my upgrades for this tank. After a few games moved from a "sit back and snipe" style of play to a "rush and shoot everything in the side" approach. got owned a few times where I rushed in places where I should have held back...oh well, those are things that experience will teach me.

Had a lot of fun on the T-25 though. I think the 2 styles of play I'm interested in right now are the quick run and gun style + camp in bushes and snipe style.

Recommended tanks to grind to for these 2 play styles?

it certainly did. they have more players spending more cash than anyone expected. kinda makes the slow pace of development more painful.

I figure I can afford to spend $10~ here and there on this game. free exp makes it so my tank is less painful to play with so I actually feel like I'm playing a game and not working.

Well I added ya'll to my contact list. Here is me:
http://worldoftanks.com/community/accounts/1000593165-Ashakar/

hit me up anytime if ya'll want to platoon. I play mostly my tier 8 (KT/IS3/T32) or my current tier 9 (E75). Although I do have a bunch of other tanks that cover all tiers except 1. You can also find me on skype with the same user name. Its very helpful to have voice, and its free for small conference calls, doesn't require a server and the voice quality is really good. Anyway feel free to hit me up in game or on skype.

No, it stays pretty similar. Rate of fire actually gets worse when you get to higher tier arty (~2-4 shots per min). Accuracy generally improves but is never great. If you hit 80% or so with a tank, you might be lucky to have 30%-40% hit rate on arty. Damage is pretty good...when you hit, but the hits are so infrequent that it's frustrating. I currently run 16 different tanks, and one arty. I think they need to improve the fun factor for arty.

Heavy and medium tanks are played the most because they are the most fun and the most rewarding. Lights are fun too, but not in all battles, since they are relegated to spotting and killing arty in higher tier battles. Sometimes you are close to useless in a light. Other times you are a huge benefit to your team by spotting.

For camp and snipe, try any of the TD trees or the German mediums like the PZ4 and VK3601.

thanks.

Do I need to do anything for spotting or just drive around until I see tanks? lol

Drive around, light them up, hide, repeat. Stay alive and keep them lit up for your teammates to kill them. You get XP (and credits?) when you light them up and others kill them.

This description wont really apply at the low levels, since you're all really in light tanks. At the higher levels there might be 1-3 light tanks out of 15. In that situation, which will be the majority of your playtime if you continue, the light tank is primarily a spotter and an arty finder/killer.

The T-50 and T-50-2 are fun little light tanks.

wow I feel like a dumbass now.

things learned today

If you die, you don't have to watch the rest of the match. You can quit out and pick another tank to play. You will get notified when the match ends on the xp, credits, and win/loss.

To do this, press Escape, exit battle, and you will be in your garage. Only downside, you cant use the tank until it is out of battle, so you better have another!

so this is what you guys meant a few hundred/thousand posts ago.

Also, is it safe to say my T25 COULD be considered a 'scout'?

T-25 as in the premium German Tier5 medium tank? If so, then no. That tank isn't particularly quick/nimble. I wouldn't try to scout with it. Dont' have any other advice b/c I've never played it.

But if you're referring to the T-26, the Soviet tier2 light, then I'd say no too. If you're in a tier2 match, then there's really not a lot of scouting to do. Hardly anyone is accurate enough to fire at long range targets & there's no arty. So you could scout but it wouldn't be of much value. You can also end up in tier3 matches where there are arty around. Even here, T-26 isn't a scout tank. It's too slow. BT-2 and BT-7 are the scouts at this tier range.

T-26 has a good gun for its tier but paper armor. Even the autocannons can shred your armor. You can hurt a lot of tier3 tanks from the front & definitely from sides/rear. Don't lead charges but provide supporting fire. There will always be other ppl who want to run out and take the hits for you. Aim & make your shots count; use mobility to flank tanks you can't pen. And if you don't know which tanks you can/can't pen, I'd suggest looking here http://www.wotdb.info/ and getting a feel for hte armor values & gun strengths of the opponents you'll face.

Ok so I just played my IS-4 for the first time today for the 5x xp. I need to grind some xp to get those tracks and the eventual god-gun. I'm learning how to play this big slow POS but so far I'm liking its armor.

I learned from the forums and applied the nose against a building and you angle and back up revealing your side armor and an extreme angle until your gun pops out and you fire, go forward again all the while keeping that shoulder and very vulnerable driver's slot covered.

This leads to just tons of tracking shots and bounces since that armor on the side is 160mm or something like that and the angle prevents good shooting angles. So just how effective is this technique? I went toe to toe with a T30 and bounced every one of his 8~ shots at me while beating him down. Any shots that do stick merely track me for no damage too.

I would have held the line had my team not evaporated and a JagdTiger engage me from the rear. Proper positioning makes this IS-4 crazy!

That proper positioning should be used in almost any tank with reasonable side armour.

It took 29 hits and a brief fire (manual Ex.) for a Lowe, Slugger, IS and IS-3 to kill my Lowe when I did that. The Slugger eventually flanked me whilst the rest of them sat and tried to pen me from the front. It was so bad that when the Lowe arrived I had ~1100 HP, i managed to get off 5 shots on the Lowe which is about 55 seconds so I survived over a minute on a 4v1 situation. This was at the side valley part of Abbey.

Moral of my story: I was partly hulldown and I used this positioning technique to hide my lower hull as much as possible and to present such a highly angled side that most shots will track me or bounce.

There I am, the question is, how long until my T20's stats level off where they should be. The only losses that thing got were early on in the grind. Now she is maxed and it has been win win win for a while now. Can I get to 90% (needs 9 more wins IN A ROW!)?

1st thing, 8 more wins needed. This T20 is a freaking good luck charm.

Got another top gun in my MS1, man I love this tank.

Then I played my Obj 704... all I wanted was ANY win with the 5x. I still need the suspension. But no, I get tossed on teams that somehow completely fold on the flank I am not on. Lakeville, in a tier 10 match, I am in the valley with 2 tier *6* tanks as backup and we take out the T30, a 59, a t25AT... and we somehow lose town. How is that possible when so little assets are in valley!?

On Prokohovka, I go up the road line, pop the enemy T30, e75, and Lowe. We have superior numbers and quality on the hill but our Arty is missing while theirs is not. Hill is lost, I am the ONLY one who goes back, I pop a 13/75, a Lowe, and shoot at the mediums as they buzz past me. We *still* had a chance to win but instead our idiot cappers get greedy and decide to play with an E50 who reset the cap enough times that we lose to a single t-43 capping (one that I had personally knocked to <100 HP).

When I finally got my 5x, it was a freaking rush strat and I shot all of 2 times. 3500 XP 5x, whatever!

This works great for the IS4 but I try not to do this too much in the E-75. Bouncing t-30 shots is pretty lucky though, they tend to go through Is-4s very easily. Unless he's trying to shoot at a little bit of your exposed tracks... then he's a bad player. I don't like fighting T30s with PAB generally because they have a huge alpha.

Yeah, the E-75 just doesn't have that thick of side armor to use it like that.

http://forum.worldoftanks.com/index.php?/topic/74237-how-are-you-supposed-to-angle-the-is4/

There is a picture in this thread about how to angle it. I guess from his position and how extreme I'd make the angle before he shot nothing could go through, everything just bounced off. I'd never tried it before but am a real believer in it if the situation allows.

I have been doing that with my Tiger II as the lower front glacis gets covered doing that.
I can deflect more shots but some still go through like the T30 and S70.

I think the German tanks are just fickle. Some games I deflect everything and the next I am penetrated regardless of what how the tank is angled.

Well sometimes I think people get away with shooting retarded stuff like cupolas and headlights or something. It's pretty dumb that shooting that thin metal ring up top the turret is going to do anything and causes so much damage. But maybe they just get extremely good rolls.
