Early impressions of VK 4502 Ausf A:

Mixed feelings about the 4502 Ausf A so far. Its a heavy but it is not. Play it like a medium and you die. Try and play it front line like a heavy and you die. Lay back and snipe with it is best way I have found so far. The 10.5 is accurate but not all the time and it doesn't always do much damage. My biggest gripe so far is the gun angling. Try and angle it downward when on a hill. Even a small hill or rise. Sucks horrible. Hit a small rock or debris in a city and it pushes the tank up a little and you will find you can't aim down to shoot at a tank. Even a close one. This thing needs constant flat ground to work with as far as gun angling goes. Worse I've seen of any tank. I had hoped the second turret would improve it but it doesn't.

The tank is pretty good on speed even with just the second engine. I haven't gotten last engine yet and I'm looking forward to it. With it's speed you really have to resist charging in like a medium. The armor is weak everywhere but front although it will take a few hits before dying. I don't think it bounces as many shots as people claim. Some say it is better than the DB. Nope! I wish it bounced shots like the BD. that would be sweet. people say it is a good brawler but I'm thinking its not. Not like the DB is a brawler. If you hiding behind something and playing peek-a-boo shooting then yes it is good at that. But open face brawling? No, don't try it. Tanks of same tier will rip you up.

Right now I'd say its an okay tank but not great. I still need to get last engine and get crew that last 5% and then make a final judgement.

Had a great day yesterday getting my x3s on my tanks that needed it. Ended up 21 wins and only 9 losses for the day. I have less than 100k xp left to go on my IS4 to unlock my IS7. I'm also only around 10k or so away from unlocking my panther 2.

I've also been having lots of fun on my S-51. I find its really hit or miss playing arty though. Some games I seem to hit everything, and other games I can't hit a damn thing. Since it looks like I"ll have the cash to afford the IS-7 when I get the xp to unlock it, I think i'm going to bite the bullet and drop the 1.1M for the arty rammer and enhanced aim speed (gun laying drive I think). Dropping over half a second from aim time and 4.1 seconds off my reload time should help me get at least an extra shot or 2 off a game. Sure it'll take an eternity to recoup that expense if I ever do, but those 2 items will transfer nicely to the tier 7/8 arty whenever I eventually get them.

I finally "got" the hang of the E8 on my third time buying it. Only fully-upgraded and with good crew is it mobile enough to do what it does. The 76mm leaves you no other choice but to flank everything.

I don't get why people love the E8 so much. It's squishy as all hell and the gun, while it has good DPM, rarely gets to use it to its full potential because everyone will be looking at you and going "mm, free hits!"

It's great if you're dogfighting one single tank like the lowe. In most other use cases people will shoot at you first instead of the IS next to you simply because they will be guaranteed a pen on you. Similar to french tanks.

I shoot french tanks first not for the easy pen, but because they are the most threatening. You have to kill those bastards before they can put all thier shells in you and run off to reload.

Once in a while though you get those games where you aren't the bottom bitch and your team sticks together so you can really shine. I've gotten reaper a couple times because I'm throwing so much lead downfield and mobile enough artys don't take the time to try and rape me.

frenchies might be a poor example but people will always go for the easy kill. I too would rather shoot the e8 to get a gun off the field first.

And I've been on the top like 3 times total in the E8... all 3 times I get nailed by arty and my fun run is over. Sad sad times, it seems like it'd be a fun tank to drive but I never get the teams to enjoy this thing. I end up fighting type 59s most of the time, and you know how well that goes for the e8.

I love the E8 due to its mobility. Just like I like the T20. It can get around the battlefield very easily. The machine gun is nice once you can use that mobility to get on their flank. I love city maps in the E8. That said it can be very squishy. If you are in the open and the target, you wont live long.

The 4502A is not a medium tank, but it is a medium tank killer. I had the greatest success with it by running with the team's mediums, but not looking for other heavies to wolfpack, but looking for enemy medium tanks to engage. The turning speed of the 4502A is phenomenal. It is impossible to circle one.

You need to work the speed and maneuverability of the 4502A into your game play as that's the biggest asset it has, relative to other T8 heavies. I think the IS3 is about as fast, and I think the T32 can keep up ok, but neither of those tanks can turn on a dime like the 4502A.

I only play the E8 to get to the M26/M46. I don't care for it much...its nice now that it can actually move but I'd never call it a big T-50. It's profile is huge and it has zero armor.

The speed and maneuverability of the Easy8 is what made it fun. Basically lay back and snipe and when opportunity appears you dash in and hit a lone tank in the butt when he was engaged with someone else. That's how I played it. Granted this was back before the French tanks and the German T-50s came into being. Not sure how it does with them on the field now. My first thought would be to try and use the Easy8 as a scout killer or a French killer and see how that works.

Don't use it as a French killer, or at least don't expect to rush up to anything but a 12t and hope to survive. 13/75s and up will murder you with their autoloader. You need to bait them into firing a few rounds first and then get them while reloading.

Learning to count to six is the most important skill in killing French mediums and lights.

or 4 if you're fighting the batchat and lorraine. But I never try to brawl an E8 with my 13/75. I may win but i'll limp away with 200 hp, and as a french light you don't want to take ANY damage that you don't have to.

i just fired up the 7.2 public test and i noticed on this server i have most but not all of my credits and i no longer have the panther 2 researched, tank or crew

for new skills/perks, i'm thinking of going with 1)repair 2)brothers in arms 3)something for gun/vision enhancement

Well, Hellcat is interesting. I thought it was supposed to be faster. On a city map it hits about 50kph and going across the whole map it'll get a little over 60kph.

The real Hellcat on road was reported to get 97kph.

The 90mm gun is nice and the tank is fast enough to quickly redeploy and take out emerging threats, I just thought it would be much faster.

Am I crazy, or do french lights NEVER get tracked? The T50 or T50-2 get tracked if you hit anywhere near them or their tracks, but those annoying french lights just power on after getting hit from a T9 gun! It's not right.

Think it's worth 130K free exp to get the T30 researched before 7.2? (almost all my exp).

Hmmm... not sure. You can load up the test client and see if you like the T30. I think they made some changes to the gun. But you can take it for a test drive and see if you like it in the TD role.

i loaded the hitzones mod, and as i suspected the panther 2 is absolutely covered in vulnerabilities. i'm also using the paintball and NA-Stats_Made-Easy-by-kizarze mods. i loaded them manually because jsgme crashes on WoT 7.1 for me - it works fine on other games including 7.2 public test. ???

What is the Paintball mod like? I know what the hit zone mods look like. Seen plenty of videos and pics of them. I don't use mods myself so I'm curious of the differences.

Got the 90mm for my AMX 13 finally. It makes a huge difference...the damage more than the pen since you're usually hitting sides anyway. My best game with it as well:

AFAIK the Game Engine itself is limited to 72kph which is what the Hellcat should be capable of.

Wargaming.net screwed the pooch with the Test Server anyway. I have a WoT RU and US account on the same email as my EU account. Logging in only gives me access to my RU account which has 4 Tier 1 tanks. No access to ElcomeSoft_EU for me means no testing possible.

I'm curious as to how the M18 Hellcat compares to the M36 Slugger. Wargaming's versions of them anyway. We know they both get a 90mm gun and supposedly the Hellcat is faster in flat out speed. What else do we know for sure at this point?
