The matchmaking seems to have improved dramatically, lots of very close fights last night.

The warping is much improved, had a few scouts pop-in from nowhere but once spotted I didn't see any warping even from long range. Was having so much fun I even slapped the 122mm back on my SU100. It's actually usable now that I have a decent chance of hitting moving targets from a distance.

Actually saw a T30 in a game too, I haven't done the math but it sort of makes me ill to think how much free XP someone would need to power all the way to the top American tank in a day. Plus I was putting some serious hurt on him with the old 122, that isn't the cause with a Maus or IS-7.

Very little teleporting. I had a blast last night playing with my Hetzer. I could actually hit a tank at 500m and do some damage.

Am I missing something or is the M3 Lee basically like a TD in that the turret has about a 20 degree range on it before you have to move the tank?

You're correct. It's like a TD due to being unable to control both guns at this moment in time.

So far I like the American tanks I face in my KV3. They make a nice bonfire. LOL

^The thinner armour probably suffers more from HE shells.

I use AP that's $1000 a round, 175/390 is plenty for me. Got a oneshot rack kill on an Ausf B prepatch - probably the biggest smile I've had on my face while playing this game.

HE is about $600 per shot and ~64/490ish.

175 is enough to punch through almost anything except head-on with T9+.

If the m3 could control both guns it would be a pretty neat light to go scouting in.


And while I didn't check the american tank list in detail, none except very late war models had any armor protection worth noting.

Except that its impossible to do that all the time. You HAVE to move unless you want to get flanked. Which brings up the great paradox. Especially as a TD. There've been many times I've died because I moved to fire at tanks that were flanking me, then right when i fire, BOOM insta dead. So in order to not die I have to move, but if I need to move, they already have me in their sights, so as soon as I move, artillery is all over my ass. Great.

30 seconds into the game when I'm struggling to get my slow ass into cover, a fast scout spots me, BOOM from the other side of the map.

When I'm struggling to get to the point to cap, BOOM.

I HAVE to move all the time to get great firing spots. Unless you expect me to sit in one place at all times because as soon as I pop out 3 artillery pieces are going to hit me. I fire straight so I need to completely pop out of cover to fire which leaves me with no defense against artillery.

The entire game slows down because of Artillery. Today I had the pleasure of playing a game without a SINGLE PIECE of artillery, and it was more fun than any game with artillery. People weren't scared of being popped by random shots so everyone moved up and had some damn fun tank battles because we weren't all trying to squeeze into the tiny bits of cover that happen to stop artillery so everyone stayed mobile and moved around alot and was fast paced.

Alot of maps simply don't offer protection against artillery. The one map flanked by a railroad is simply a giant open field. Unless tanks manage to destroy the artillery on the other side, its a field day for those guns because there's barely any usable cover. Some of the new maps are just one big field with a town in the middle.

Many maps are just that, a giant open field with random houses providing cover. Artillery just wtfpwns and gets amazing amounts of kills because of that.

It's so easy to flank arty on abbey it's insane, in fact it's one of the worst maps for arty players.

I just disagree, I feel it's easy to find cover from arty.

After play with my SU-5 the other night after the patch and not being able to till a lvl 6 medium without 6 shots( it took half that before and my SU-5 only has 14 rounds so no bieno). I feel the arty is extremely gimped and I get a feeling that there are going to be less games with arty all together. I guess this is what everyone wanted though and I admit I do like tank vs tank battles more.

Im still being one shot in the lower tiers.

serious question:
what about it do you think made it more difficult than before?

Ugh - sometimes the teamwork - or lack thereof - drives me nuts. Two rounds ago - only one tank (me) went to defend our base. Everyone else went off to the right. We lost the round and only lost one tank (me). Thanks team

Last round two tanks were picking on a TD while everyone else drove by. I stayed and helped and we got the two tanks knocked out. We were then killed by 3 heavies and 2 med tanks who drove past our tanks. Our tanks just kept driving leaving us to our deaths

There is a little teleporting when you haven't seen the enemy (when a friend is engaging a target a way away...). Once you have contact with them yourself it seems fine.

Though being able to survive more than one hit from the front is really nice.

The 7.5 42 L/70 isn't bad. It still has issues with heavies like the T29/King tiger variety but is very potent against others in your class

Unfortunately you won't be able to punch into King Tigers until you get the JagdPanther (tier 7) and the new 8.8cm Pak 43 L/71 which has a 203mm average penetration.

The JagdPanzer IV is extremely good with the 8.8cm gun it can pick up but will only be able to punch through Tier 7 Heavies via side armour (front is quite unreliable).

Use my guide and check out my stats (JagdPanther). All of the matches I have played in that TD have been in the new patch and you can see what you can achieve with smart play and accurate shooting. You really need to make each shot count and understand your guns capabilities.

Had my best weekend yet playing TD. I managed to get enough XP to get the StugIII, and upgraded it to the best gun. When I'd get knocked out, I'd hop in with the Hetzer. The most memorable item was when both my other TDs were still in a game and I jumped in with my Pzjgr1. I managed to get 11 kills, and 3000xp. I've never seen that before. Also got the top gun award.

Good news, Elcs. Looks like I now have a reason to continue the American medium tree beyond the M4A3E8 that I currently have.
