man, the flaws of this game are really pronounced. i may have said this before, but:

1. tons of BAD players, poor skills and very immature/poor sportsmanship
2. good players usually cannot succeed if shackled to a team of nitwits. the game is too slow and inflexible to allow a very good player to really shine. completely forget about turning the tide once a collapse is under way, FPS-style.
3. the transient team-making discourages teamwork, and strangely, the sense you are playing a game with other people at all.
4. as always, the game is structured around grinding, and paying cash to relieve some grind.
5. poor balancing, also directly reinforcing #4. for example, my tiger used to be a very potent tank however it is now outclassed in every way by a new tank in the same weight class. either suffer the disadvantage, or grind grind grind to a t29.
6. poor matchmaking, also directly reinforcing #4. the majority of players in a match are simply food. also, when i see 1 or 2 low level tanks on my team platooning with a higher level tank, i kill them immediately.

... snip.......

Makes me want to flip my computer table...

Preach on! All that and factor in the random lag I'm seeing to both east and west servers and I've rage quit twice in the last week. Something I haven't done since beta.

I gotta do something else for a while.

Most with 10s do have or had premium at one point, but mostly they just play a ton. Premium gets you to the same xp level in 2/3 the time, but 2/3 of what it takes to go from mid tiers to t10s is still a shitton. More than the xp though, premium helps with credits to the point that you very rarely have something that's unlocked but that you can't afford to buy. You probably aren't running into too many credit problems at t6, but you will start to feel it when you get to t8s.

It's more of an xp grind than a credit grind, imo. Free xp gives a pretty decent boost to leveling, if you want to use gold to convert. I have something like 200K free xp that's waiting to be converted, which is a shit ton of gold, 8000 to be exact.

You cant call bad players a game flaw. Its a flaw of humans. Not the game. LOL

I'm about to start this game. Can anyone give me pointers?

Be patient, always. And if you are one shot, it happens. Its part of the mechanics. Just jump into another tank right away. Also, once you figure out your style of play, research each tree/nation and figure out what your goal is.

Pointers:

- Remember you don't have to race to a high level tank. By about level 4, you have the basic tanks to play. If you're having fun in those, great.

- Try all the types of tanks, determine which you enjoy most. Try some of the better low tier of each type, like the SU-26 arty (it kind of spoils you though).

- To learn, try supporting other tankers, go along a bit behind and try to shoot what they shoot, watch how they play.

- Learn the camo system - that frustrates a lot of players.

- If you get any gold premium tanks, you want to not get their own crew for them - use a crew from another tank of the same country and type. It works fine in gold tanks.

- New tanks are bad. You need to get the upgraded parts to enjoy them usually.

Another vote for trying several types to see what suites you. Also, when you start you get one basic tank from each nation, play each one enough to unlock all the t2 vehicles. That won't take long, but it gives you lots of options and that way you are sure to have the basics down before you try to move on.

Whenever you find something you like, keep it. Buy the next one in in its line, sure, but don't sell one you like just because you can replace it with something new. Bigger is often not better.

Last, I recommend not spending any money on the game until you've been at it for a couple weeks. In some ways each tier leads into the next, but there are a lot of differences between low tier gameplay (1-3), the middle tiers (4-6), the high tiers (7-9), and the end game (10). Give yourself some time to take a broad look at the game before you decide how much to commit to it or you may quickly burn out.

One thing though when trying different types - be open minded. Like if you try a light and dogfight you'll hate it - you need to play it as a scout, takes practice.

One other tip - usually wait for sales. Things like garage slots and equipment go 50% off every several weeks and there's a big annversay sale coming.

after my first tier X, i got premium whenever i think ill be able to play most of the 30 days.
i dont have a constant premium going on or anything.
