I have to disagree. The IS3 is way better than the IS. All tanks have their treads blown off a lot. The IS or IS3 is no worse than any other tank when it comes to being tracked. This is a very common problem in the game. Its designed that way unfortunately. Everyone complains about it and there are untold threads about it on the WoT forums. Its not unique to the IS3.

The IS cannot take the damage that an IS3 can. I have gone out in a IS3 and take like 20 or 30 hits and still live. The IS could never do that. Yes, I have also been killed in only 3 or 4 shots in my IS3 but in the IS that happens much more often. The only thing an IS has over the IS3 in my opinion is in speed and the difference isn't real huge. I sold my IS. It wasn't worth keeping. Even the KV3 is a better tank than the IS when it comes to durability.

Stupid things like this happen from time to time, I tend to chalk it up to the dice rolling thats going on behind the curtain where you are given the illusion of control when it's all behind the scenes.

For instance I had a 1v1 vs a Ferdi in my SU-152, both of us squared off face to face and I completely owned him with 3 shots while he bounced two off of me and missed another, from point blank range. 9/10 times I'm going to lose that fight badly and I'm sure the Ferdi guy was probably about ready to break his keyboard in half.

Got My T44 tonight and its now fully upgraded. Now I need 167k xp for the T54. I have enough creds to get my IS4 now too. I'll do that tomorrow though. I wanted to get the T44 paid for and upgraded first. Someone in one fight said they heard one Dev say they may extend the extra points into the weekend. That'd be sweet if they did! Just a rumor I guess. Haven't read the forums lately to see what is being said. If anyone knows more about it please post it.

Normally, I'd suggest a Spall Liner. Ideal for helping against HE spammers and artillery.

In the way the game is being played now, I have no idea.

In the pre-'anti-anything-but-soviet-tank' patch era when the American Heavy tanks were powerful, I ran the Vert Stabiliser, Rammer and Spall Liner in the T-29.

Considering the volume of Artillery spam (always HE) I used to come under, and in the latter stages, the people who realised that HE was a good way to kill me, I was always grateful for the -15% HE damage effect.

As for vents, long ago I used vents on my T-34, T-34-85 and T-43.With a 100% crew, I never really got the feeling that the extra 5% did anything worth shouting about.

Gun Laying Drive? At best you'll shave off 0.3 seconds (roughly speaking) or 300ms. The average human reaction speed on a mouse click is somewhere around 250-350ms (or so I have read and tested myself (290-330 with wireless mouse personally)). I just don't feel like it's worth anything.

Best advice: If you have the 500k spare, buy a Toolbox. 25% repair time might not be a fantastic addition to your tank but it should provide tangible benefits to track repair time and be reusable elsewhere whilst you continue your search for the ideal Module #3.

well the whole game for now is far faster paced, seems to me less arty spam and more "normal" tanks. For example just had a game on malinovka where everyone just rushed through the middle. Sure I got taken out so fast but damnit it was fun!

Yeah, the game fighting pace did pick up. There was still camping going on just not as much as before the 5x point enhancement. A lot of people trying to get to the enemy to get hit/kills to up the points basically.

Spall liners are like gun rammers. A must have for most tanks of medium tiers on up if you plan to keep the tank. At least thats my opinion about them. The third thing to get depends on the tank, its gun, and your play style. For TDs Telescopic sights and for fast moving tanks Toolbox or Vertical stabalizer. I usually get the Vert. Stabalizers in lieu of the toolbox if the gun isn't too accurate on the move. But thats just me. I put a repair kit on the tank though when I do. Its a trade off basically.

I wish they'd let us put 4 items on the tanks instead of just 3. Or maybe have the item as part of the upgrade. For example maybe the last gun of the upgrade has a built in stabalizing system for better accuracy while on the move or something like that. That'd be kinda nice. Just a thought anyway.

Grinded through the russian medium tank line to get to the t-54... really a fun tank to use. Fast and durable and the gun packs a wallop even at stock... Also got enough money to get binoculars on the jagdpanther. I can actually see now! *gasp*

Also its nice to be finally sitting on a good reserve of credits.

Still I think I had better dogfights in the t-44 though. Shame I didn't have enough time to get a heavy tank to see how that rolls in.

My luck has been horribly bad tonight. 2 hours of play and I have only gained 20k creds total. No matter what I tried, no matter tank choice just couldnt get on a winning team. The server pop really took a nose dive since the 5x points stopped. The battles are really lopsided bad tonight too. Just a real crappy night luck wise. The T44 is not a money earner either when it gets wrecked. I even have premium and I was lucky to even break even with it. The IS3 and Tiger couldnt make much creds either. KV3 is what got me as far as it did and it died every time too. Just cheaper to fix. Its like the tank gods are demanding payback for all that money I made during the 5x spree. <sigh>

According to the Forums January 27th is open beta. Should see more people come into the game. Fresh meat as they say. Hopefully there will be many. Not liking the server pop since the split. One step closer to game going gold/release.

Weird, I had tons of fun in my T-44. Are you running in packs in a T-44 or are you following big tanks?

I find it better to wait for the action to happen so you can see where the big masses are, then pick up two other medium tanks and roam the other side to see if you can pick off smaller targets. Three mediums of your caliber can pick off an IS-3 easy. Last game I was in, I drove around with 1 other T-44 and we took out 4 mediums + 1 heavy before we split up (and then I got blown up by a VK... )

I hate nights like that Skott. Sometimes I just turn off the game and go play borderlands or kinect or something when everything is going wrong. I'm still able to make decent money with my IS3 but I do prefer the IS (as you know ) and sold the KV3 because the slowness of it was just too much for me.

I've tanked my way through Russian mediums to tier 9, Russian heavies to tier 9, and German heavies through tier 9.

The Panther 2 is the toughest grind of all so far for me in this game. Thrown in Tier 9 battles with the 75mm was brutal. Got back my old Panther 88 finally and now it's only kinda brutal. I'm on the grind to the 105 now, 48k to go.

T54 out of the box was pretty good. IS4 out of the box (brought my BL-9 over) was pretty good. Panther 2...bad.

Going for Soviet Medium and Heavy for tanks. SPG's probably German, went up to Hummel and Priest, so far I like the Hummel (I know crazy but I follow the Heavies with it and it has good mobility so it's bearable). And probably German SPG's.

It all depends though... last notes I saw on the latest patch showed some buffs to the German heavies and mediums which were already fun to play...
