Probably not the JT88, against 9's it will have to spam gold. Credit grinding you need to be concerned with one thing only, AP pen. The JT88, IS6, KV-5, and stupor pershing struggle with using AP. The T34 and Lowe are fine. Hey look, the tanks with proffered match making have crappier guns.

This is true. But against Tier VIII and below, which you will see a decent amount of because the JT 8.8 has preferred MM, it is really good. It's armor is great as it's just a JT (Tier IX vehicle) with a worse gun, so you're running around with Tier IX armor. I've had pretty good success with it making a lot of money.

Then again, I don't have a Lowe to compare with.

Half of the games will be tier 8, half will be tier 9. Half of the time you will not have to spam gold (unless you face another JT88 in tier 8), half of the time you probably will. The problem that I have with the JT88 in particular is it has to punch through the front armor of the opponents because it is NOT going to flank. The E25 and SU122-44 gets around this because they are quick. I can flank with them, I do flank with them.

So the JT 8,8, Löwe or T34 are similar in gold earning, but I should choose either of these depending on my preferred play style?

@Possessed Freak
You suggest a couple of Tier VII tanks. Are they as good money makers?

Anything else I should take into consideration before choosing? Does it matter which nation I choose?

Everyone I have talked to that owns a JT88 say they love it and it makes good cash. I don't own one so cant say. I dislike fixed gun tanks so I haven't bothered buying one. I would say choose the one that best suits your play style. Be aware the Lowe takes a bit of finessing since it has armor issues (engine is in front and gets hit regularly) so a experienced player will do better in it.

Edit: Today I was playing in my S.Pershing . Just farming credits like I do from time to time. People say this tank is crap now. I was teaching people that it isn't true. LOL

By the way, I should have said this first:

Do NOT buy any premium tanks until you've earned a regular tank of the same tier.

Games play differently at higher levels. Too many people get up to Tier IV or V, start to feel the grind, and go buy a Tier VIII tank just so that they can get into higher tier battles. They then proceed to get demolished game after game. They simply don't have the experience.

For myself, I didn't end up buying any premium tanks until I'd actually got my first Tier X. I'd highly suggest holding off until you have the experience.

Yeah, I especially like my S.Pershing when I'm facing numbnuts who just keep hitting my turret and don't know where to aim.

I'm mostly playing the British line and have medium/heavy tier VIII and have 130K on a fully upgraded Tortoise, so the reason I'm asking is that I only have around 1.3M in cash and need the 6.1M to get the FV185b (183)

(I also have some tier VI and VII German tanks)

The tier 8 premiums are the better money makers, the tier 7's make decent money.

The secondary (sometimes primary) reason for premium tanks is as a crew trainer. You can place the same class/nationality crew on a premium tank at no penalty. IE my KV-2 crew can get 4 2x's by winning a game in the KV-2, transferring the crew to the KV-220, IS6, and KV-5. So, think about what lines you are interested in when you think about a premium tank.

I agree. When you have played for a while then get a T8 gold tank. For those newbs wondering which T8 to start with I would probably suggest the IS6 for starters. Its a great tank. Bounces a lot of enemy shells. Tactics are pretty straight forward. Its a heavy so it can take and give punishment. Learning to angle is probably the most difficult thing to learn. And it makes good credit cash. IMO it is probably the easiest to learn on. Just my opinion anyway.

Nice. Seriously one of my favorite tanks. The armor is some of the most troll in the game if you use it right, and the thing is soo quick for having that armor. It allows you to get to super aggressive positions and tank people.

wow you weren't kidding, this obj 430-2 is fun as hell, i'd argue almost as fun as the T-54.
i'm keeping the obj 416 for now to start another crew training as i now want to keep the 430-2 once i get the 430

What a horrible night yesterday was. I should have grabbed screenshots, but when you are in a Tier 5 and below battle and do 3000 damage single-handedly and yet your team still losses, it is a fail team...

the worst is when you're the only non yellow/red/grey player on the team and all you see are purple/blue/greens on the other side

I wish Wargaming would have required a person to get at least a Mastery Badge 1 in each tank before they would be allowed to purchase the next higher tier tank in that particular line. Maybe starting with Tier V or VI. It would have almost completely eliminated the issue of bots and kept a lot of completely useless people out of the top tiers until they actually learned how to use their tank effectively in a battle. As it is now, any moron can get to T10 if he mashes the "Battle!" button enough times.

I started playing again a week ago, after nearly 2 years. New maps and vehicles complicate things a little. I like the changes they made and details they added like the reload timer. Glad to see the depressing garage gone. Gere is a reminder in case you forgot:

The core hasn't changed much, it's still a rigid game though it looks more polished now. For a game that holds the Guinness World Records entry for most simultaneously online players ever, map selection should have at least been experimented with. I'll throw a party if WG ever dumps Big World but I can live with the graphics. I can't stand idling behind bushes as long as others, at least not consistently so I would love some instant respawn action even if it meant no xp or cred are gained in that mode.

Just had a great game in my OBJ 430. Finally got my ace tanker in it.

http://replays.quickybaby.com/result.php?id=10344

At first glance, might not seem that spectacular. 4 kills, 3.3k damage, no special awards. But then look at my spotting damage. 5.7k.

This is also a good replay to highlight my favorite thing to do on Fishermans Bay, at least from this side spawn. That's to be super aggressive down the 1 line.

Most people say that gun is better. However, I've been using the other gun and prefer it. The extra 19mm of penetration I've found to be a nice insurance. I like to brawl a lot and get in knife fights with the tank, so the lesser aim time and accuracy don't matter as much at close range. But YMMV.

Also, if you spam heat, the more accurate gun with slightly better ROF is probably better. But I pretty much don't load a lot of heat (10 rounds just in case).

Also stag3, what was more fun (or less unfun), the AT 15 or Tortoise? I figure I'll use free XP to skip one of them. I'm on the AT7 right now and am finding it not too bad so I'll grind out that one.

Yeah I'm more of a brawler myself.

Also, right after I asked the question I kind of answered it in a game. I just took out an AT15 with my AT7 in a straight up fight across a field. It must suck

I think I'll skip it and grind the tortoise for a while. Probably end up free xping part of that though.

I still have a while to go through before moving on from the AT7. 70k xp left or so until the AT15, which I'll then skip.

I'm on the tortoise right now and having a blast. If anything save any free XP to upgrade the cannon once you get the tortoise. I thought the AT15 was fine, but the lower tiers are better because the front armor bounce more in lower tiers.
The tortoise without the top gun is really frustrating to play.

The tortoise plays quite differently because you seldom bounce anything, but still can take a beating. In my experience avoid close hill battles at all cost, as you weakest spot will pop out before you get to take a shot on the enemy. Very good on the distance and good damage dealer if you group up with a couple of brawlers in city battle.

Yeah, I wish they would make bigger maps and add more tanks to the battles. 20 or 24 tanks to a side would be nice I think. They have talked about doing it someday but I'm guessing it would be quite involved design and hard ware wise.
