I'd suggest the first premium to get though is the E-25, especially with them removing it.

Already got that one. It's a nice little tank.

I actually have a decent amount of premiums. Normally I pick them up when they are on sale or bundled with gold. The 8.8 would be one of the first that I'd think about paying full price for, just because I like the panther (historically) but don't feel like grinding for one. Plus I can train my Leopard crew in it.

Sorry, I realized you are probably talking about the new premium Panther 8.8 - I was talking about the old td 8.8. If that's the case, I can't comment on the new tank.

It did. Since I like collecting rare tanks I picked it up.

First game: Ace Mastery, 3.5k damage, 4 kills, High Caliber Medal. And I forgot to load any equipment.

Struggled to pen some things, but I think it will be much easier to aim at weakspots now that I've put Vert Stabs on.

Gun handling is pretty good. RoF is nice. Gun depression isn't great but it's not crippling. Armor is fairly weak. Movement isn't superb but it isn't horrible.

Sweet, I will have to read about it on their website. It doesnt show up in my tech tree.

bleh no special MM. Hard to justify spending 50 bucks to get worked over in Tier 10 matches.

Yeah I'd say it's not worth $50 unless you like rare tanks like me. It's not a bad tank. Just a slightly worse Panther II, but you get premium benefits.

If you're going to spend $50 on a tank because you want a Tier VIII Premium, the 112, IS-6 or FCM are the best bets.

Matter of taste - I have the T34 and 8.8 td, and like them. The lowe is slowe, but I've felt it's an especially nice looking tank, and people seem to like it. I thought about the FCM, especially since I have found French tanks favorites and it has nice mobility, and people seem to like it also, but it's hard to justify, given I have Russian tier 10 mediums etc.

It's not clear how it's more enjoyable than other tanks.

Well, I would say mostly the Tier VIII premiums aren't entirely about how fun they are (though this counts). They are the best money making tanks in the game.

Out of the Tier VIII prems I have

112 - Solid armor from the upper plate and turret. Bad side armor so careful sidescraping, and the gun is difficult to get working until you get used to it. Decent mobility. I've felt that once I've gotten used to it, it is my most reliable money maker. If I need to make a lot of money, I'll play 10 games in this thing due to its consistency.

JT 8.8 - Best potential money maker. If it gets in the right spot, you're making over 100k easy. That said, the lack of mobility makes it frustrating and also gives you horrible games.

T34 - Great gun makes it seem like you can always do something. Also, solid turret armor and nice gun depression means it can get in a good hull down position. However, it has some problems. First, it is terrible in terms of mobility. Its hull armor is really bad also. Coupled with the poor mobility, it gets caught out a lot and killed before it can hide its hull armor. Also, it doesn't have premium MM like a lot of other Tier VIII premiums, and it fires slowly.

KV-5 - Pretty much impossible to not make money in this thing. It is a ton of fun to play on occasion, but would be frustrating to try to do a run in it (like I do in the 112) in order to try and make money. It is riddled with weak spots, slow (unless going down hill) and the gun isn't very good except against lower tiers.

Panther 8.8 - Only 5 games in it so I don't have enough experience to do a big review. Seems pretty decent, but nothing too special. The gun is pretty nice.

IS6 and Lowe both seem decent, though I don't have them. I would say, based on my experience, IS6 seems to be a better tank if you are a newer player as that armor is forgiving. Lowe seems to require a bit more skill to play effectively, but it certainly can.

FCM also seems pretty good, but looks to be the least forgiving.

The KV5 has got a lot better. But you are right. It is one of those tanks if you are grinding cash forget about it. Too slow to play over and over.

I got the KV5 because it was the cheapest tier 8 at $35. Couldn't justify spending $50 on a single tank. It's got a relatively weak gun so it forces you to aim for weak spots, and makes you want to carry at least a few rounds of prem ammo. It's got a big weak spot in the front so it forces you to play smart. It's tall so you can easily aim for the cupola during brawl. Overall it's worth what it was sold for relatively.

For tier 7 I like my Su122-44, equal or better than a lot of the regular tier 7 TDs, though it gets into tier 9 battles quite often.

They have a cute video up for the holiday and it has a 'secret code' to hunt for to get 1 day premium. The forum for the video is filled with the spoiler.

You will laugh at this but it works. But makes the KV5 even more slow. When you get to where you are ready to fight. Drive it backwards. The armor is as tough in the back as the front. But there is no gun pod for players to pen. I have my best games when driving like that. People are either laughing so hard at me they cant pen. Or baffled at what they are seeing they dont know where to shoot. Either way I take a lot less damage and earn more credits because I live longer and spit out more damage. One amusing side effect is you are ready to retreat as fast as the KV5 can drive forward

I've been playing again. I have crap for tanks, but am having fun. Still using the T40 and the wolverine a lot. I refuse to pay money for this game, even though its a lot of fun.

Anybody play an FV304 (mini arty)? This thing is hilarious and a ton of fun. I wish I could have had it pre-nerf, but it's still fun as hell. Try it!

It lobs super tiny but hyper-accurate shells over almost no range, and the hits do minimal damage (~150 normally, but 10-400 is the range), but it reloads fast and almost every hit is a critical. Lots of dead crew and broken modules!

When I play, I imagine myself running around and throwing shaken-up beer cans at the enemy tanks.

I gotta say the T40 is far better than the wolverine, I cannot stand that M10.

Yes, I had a lot of fun with it. The mobility, the ability to shoot behind cover, and the fast reload to spam hits make it a ball.

I purchased a tank I wanted since it was announced. I don't care that it is complete poo. I don't care that other tanks out class it. But I now have... the grosstraktor. People call it slow and it is not at all. Sure, it is not 60KPH fast. But it is decent enough speed. And it has decent PtW so it turns and accelerates well. I was lucky enough to get phrok with no arty and I sat in the middle with the amazing depression it has and derped to my heart's content.

Tier 5 match? Load HEAT, do some damage and die in one hit.

My next tank purchase will be grinding up the Lend Lease line and getting the Grant and the Firefly.

M2 line works up to the Sherman?Been so exclusive to Russian Heavy since day one i just need something new.American mediums failed to amaze me.

Patch fixed some of the random lagging/freezing i would get, maximum standard settings runs like a dream again.Maximum improved still tanks but it just constantly pegs CPU3 in the 90-100% usage area on my i7 3770 lol.Maybe a future patch could at least bring us multicore supportOne could hope.

My favorite T8 Premium tank? Lowe. Hands down best money maker for me. Plus the gun is just damn good. Since they fixed the transmission fires its even better. I have had more 100k+ games in this tank than any other T8 Premium and I have a few. Hardest T8 Premium for me is the FCM 50t. This tank takes some good skills to operate properly. Not a good tank for first timers IMO. Buy it when you have a good knowledge of the game and how tanks work and not mention have a good idea of WoT strategy. Good first timer T8 Premium tanks are Lowe, Super Pershing, IS6, and T34. Not necessarily in that order. Personal game play preference and play style will factor in.

I been thinking of buying the T8 JTiger 8.8. Not a fan of fixed gun tanks though. I have the E25 and its a sweet little tank to play but it is an exception IMO. Damn thing is so nimble and easy to turn. Anyway been waiting for a sale n the JTiger 8.8. 15% is rather puny IMO considering earlier in the year they have had 30% sales on tanks. Lately WG has been stingy about sales. Gone are the 30% and now its 11%-15% sales for the higher tiers. Sucks but what can you do, right?

Happy Holidays Everyone.

Bought the German TD E25 yesterday, fun little tank. Figured it would be a while before I get an Ace Tanker badge in it. Guess I didn't have to wait long for it.

On Lakeville, started on North side of map, so use ridge line and that tiny hill to get a perch. Spotted a few tanks rolling into town. Two of them, Dicker Max and T67, didn't make it to town, another brutally beaten down, KV-85? If someone came down ridge line, I would have never gotten that many shots off.

Finished game with 8 rounds left, 4,714 damage, 6 kills. 1,741 base XP.

*edit, eh, 80% win chance, not much to brag about. :/

On premium tanks, I like T34, I do very well in it, win rate wise. Bad thing, it is a slow shooter, you'll need support in some fashion. JgTig 8.8, I'm getting better at it, making a lot more credits on it but not quite as much as I can in the T34.

Since it seems the credits are really related to damage, 400 damage on T34 vs 240 on JgTig. But JgTig shots almost 3 shots per 1 to T34. In the right situation, JgTig would do better. All down to play style of course.

I don't remember ever seeing 30% on tier 8 premiums. I'd get it at 15%.

I bought it. I had no crew for it so I bought and advanced a crew to 100% off the bat. Early battles are tough with no camo training. LOL Camo up over 50% now though so hiding is better. Get this thing hull down and it puts up some serious resistance. It turns as slow as molasses in January and everyone knows it. I get rushed a lot. First thing my driver gets after camo is clutch breaking. Damn thing is so slow at turning. Good money maker.
