Even with the best engine the tank still only has a max speed of 40kph. Its decent and compared to a tiger it seems to book. I finally got my tiger over the weekend and got the 8.8cm unlocked. compared to the VK its slower and even has less armor. The only thing its got going for it, is a slightly better gun (really needs a better rof or a little bit more damage), and it has an extra 600hp over the VK.

I will probably change my tune about the tiger in a week or so though once I get my crew maxed (only 89% right now), and I buy some crew vents or some other module. I find it hard to make much money at all on my tiger with repairs+ammo costing 10-11k and I'm lucky to get 15-20k a match. It doesn't make much sense that I can shoot 2 things with a KV and make 25K and only have a 2k repair bill. While I can get 2 kills and shoot numerous other tank on my tiger and not even break 30k.

Another great bonus of playing the tiger is that you have the joy of being matched up against tier 10 tanks. The IS-7 at least can be hurt. The Maus on the other hand is just impregnable. After I was dead one match I watched a Maus take on an IS-7, IS-4 and a pershing all by himself. The best part is he still had 70% life afterwards.

Fortunately with having the Panther, I have most of the Tiger unlocked. Turret first thwn I immediately get my 8.8cm L/71 to fit. The L/71 can frontally penetrate the IS-3 but the damage is pansy and as mentioned in my post above, needs buffing. 220 damage on the Tiger compared to 320 on the T29.

If those 3 tanks could not take out the Maus, then they were either heavily damaged beforehand, noob or that Maus driver is amazing. The M26 Pershing alone should be ablw to tear apart a Maus although I have not had the pleasure of trying.

Finding the SU-85 to be a challenge, even fully upgraded and with the 107mm gun. Very frail and vulnerable but packs a nice punch.

su-85 rocks with the 107, i never had any problem doing at least some damage in matches so far. altho i am using camo net, jammer and binocs.

su100 on the other hand, horrible, i can tell it's going to be a grind getting past it, due to always being matched up against tier 10s.

one thing i don't understand so far, with the kv-3, everyone says to use the 107 (same one that you have on the kv) but it seems every match i'm up against 9's and 10's and it doesnt do jack shit in damage/pen, i'm finding myself having to stock up on HE just to do the 1-2% damage everytime. i'm not sure i want to try the big gun. so far i have the engine/tracks/turret upgraded.

In beta, I much preferred my SU-100 to my SU-85. This time I am sticking at SU-85 for credits rather than reaching up to the ISU-152 and BL-10y goodness this time. My Pershing doesn't often see tier 10's. Must be a US server thing.

On the KV-3 front, from players I know they all used the 107 until they got the 122. The 122 seemed to have 'poor' penetration and be inaccurate but it packed the punch necessary and proved to be more combat effective. It may be more expensive though.

For some reason I find the SU-100 more to my liking. Better view range, frontal armor and the 100mm still packs a good punch. I finally gave in and got the Lowe, I needed a credit making machine. It's working out quite well so far. Paid for it's own rammer in just a few hours of play. I'm hoping the KT long 10.5 cm does that well when I finally get enough XP for it.

The 122 is really only good for short range battles. The problem is that even at short ranges it can miss quite often. And even with a gun rammer it has a slow reload. This is a problem for a slow tank like the KV. However when that 122 connects the damage is massive and very painful to all other tanks.

T-28 is as terrible as it used to be. The 57mm is a good gun at its tier but you get completely owned by any tank at all. The KV-1 can't come soon enough for me.

Awww - I actually really liked my T-28 this round (which was odd becasue I didn't like it in the beta) Maybe my play style changed a bit but I typically had great success with the 57mm. The only issue I had with it was that it was long. I seriously considered keeping it but figured the garage slot wasn't quite worth it

I did have a very interesting battle with a Pz38(t) or NA on Saturday with my KV. He kept running cirlces around my oh so slowly turning tank plinking away at me and I couldn't turn fast enough to get a shot on him. After waht seemed like 5 minutes I finally pinned him against a building and took him out. I ended up with Steel Wall and 45 hits and all but 2 were from him. I wish I had had a chance to ask him what his ammo situation was like

When playing the KV3 in beta I had the same problems and I did what the guides recommended at the time. Lay back and snipe. The KV3 is more easily hidden than the big bobble head the KV has. So if you have the creds get a gun rammer, spall-liner, and a camo net. Mount the 107mm and lay back in bushes or behind rocks and snipe at your targets from their flanks. You'll find yourself dying less or at the very least less quickly. This will allow you to hit more targets and increase your damage which in turn will get you more creds and xp per battle. And yes, load HE for anything your size and bigger.

Biggest problem with the T-28 is that is a huge target relative to its power and tier. I used to say that I couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, so I was lucky that there were T-28s to shoot at. If you find yourself inadvertently perpendicular to any tank destroyer in a T-28 they will make short work of you, even if it is a lowly AT-1 or PzJI.

I've had great success with the largest gun (85mm F-30 I think?) on the T-28, though I do sit back and don't charge forward.

The T-28 isn't really a front line tank, too fragile for it.

Hardly any lag tonight. I guess they finally fixed that router in Charlotte or whatever the problem was. Gameplay has been pretty smooth even with a pop. of over 14k. Today I swapped the 100mm on my T34/85 for the 122mm. I did the same thing in beta. Sure the 122 is a slow loader but I can one shot a lot more tanks now. And the damage those big boys get when they come on at me. 'Woa! he has a cannon!' I bet they are saying to themselves. Certainly boosts my cred and xp points.

As far as the T28 goes the 85mm gun is good for its class but the T28's biggest problem is its armor or lack thereof. Its like a tin can. Easily penetrable. Makes it's life expectancy pretty short in battles. Another one of those tanks I say its best to lay back and snipe with. Just my opinion though.

The opposite for me. I was getting almost unplayably bad (200ms+) pings. And I'm in NC. :hmm:

Oh, you guys had a 'broken router' too? Ours was in Germany and only gave some people issues too (highlighted by you playing fine and Merad having issues on the same night.

I have my doubts over 'it was a hardware fault' now.

The lag was significantly less last night. At least compared to the previous few days. Didn't notice that many rubberbanding tanks, and my ping stayed in the 50s.

I must have seriously pissed off a guy in a Lowe yesterday while I was driving my Tiger I. The first shot I fired at him, lit him on fire, and his shot on me bounced (amazingly). My second shot must have hit his ammo rack, and he exploded with around 50% of his life left. So I ended up killing a Lowe from full life in less than 10 seconds. I will most likely never get that lucky again.

I got my crew up to ~95% (110%) on my tiger and now have a rammer, vents and camo net on it. Now that my crew is almost max and I have the add-ons, the tank plays significantly better. Its amazing how much difference a trained crew makes. I'm only 10K away from the engine upgrade (only upgrade left), then its a good 80+K grind to the tigerII.

Draw distance was the killer for some reason.

Reduced that to low and maxed out everything else... and I still get better FPS than everything at low/off and Draw Distance at max.

Draw distance will put more stress on the GFX and VRAM...

Haha! I love/hate fires. I set an Ausf B on fire with my first shot as a Stug and then hid behind a hill (it took a while) as he burned from 99% all the way down to 0. He was not happy

Anyway - is it just me or have there been more fires lately? While I have been luck *knock on wood* and had very few I seem to be setting more people on fire

At least now you can manually activate a fire extinguisher (if you're equipped with one) when you happen to get set on fire. Or if you feel like spending the gold, an automatic fire suppression system will take the fire out in less than a second.

Yes it seems that fires are a lot more prevalent!

He deserved it if he let his tank go from 99 to 0 from a fire. I have an extinguisher on every tank. Plus, not sure how even a 75% crew couldn't put out the fire before reaching 0%.

Just a comment on the 3601H, I used it very similarly to the tiger and sat back and pounded people...had pretty good success.

Also, I'll post some screenshots of some Lowe victories I've had. I can say that I earn ~10k if I don't fire a shot and get killed quickly plus my team loses. Its a beast tank for making money. Just don't expect to sit on the front lines unless you can angle yourself so they only see your turret + angled side.

And I just have to give myself props for taking out a complete noob last night in his IS-3 while I was driving my T-34-85...he then quickly said he was "lagging" and that's why I was able to destroy him...yeah ok bud.

I also carry a manual fire extinguisher on all my tanks. I only use it though if I know the situation isn't a lost cause, or else its just 3k down the drain. The best part about lighting someone on fire is that even short fires do lots of other subsystem damage. So your usually not just stuck with a damaged engine/loader rack that started the fire in the first place.

The german guns are more accurate than the russian heavy guns so they are better for sniping, unfortunately they are also less powerful in most cases. My best games are when I just sit back and snipe using my 3601 or tiger. I find that the VK and tiger rarely get shots bounced on them, especially compared to the russian heavies. Its at least nice that the tiger has 1450hp, so even though bouces are rare it can still take a beating.
