Just bought the Panther.

Does anyone know if this tech tree is accurate for 6.6? If I'm going to be able to use my DB to jump over to the Tiger I, I think I'll just go ahead and ditch my PzIV.

For the Heavies and Mediums, I believe it is accurate.

Just over halfway now from the 3002DB to the Panther, and about 40% into the T29->T32 grind.

The DB is definitely my favorite tank of the game so far. Just a few of the awesome battles I've had in it:

How you possibly like that tank when you have to grind to the same gun you had on the upgraded 3001P is beyond me. Yes it is usable with the short 88, but the 3001P faced lower opponents and could do more against them. I dunno, I despise the 3002DB, and knowing that the chart is now a sideways shift to the Panther makes me even more upset that I am playing this thing.

My friend also wanted me to get to the E8 so we could pal around in those. So I am now at the mighty M7. I treat this thing like a weaponless scout car. Get up close, pray to God nothing sees you. If they do you get to choose some horrible options, get the vehicle up to speed and hope to skate around opponents or fire off your Tier 4 guns (at least you get some options on which POS gun you want to mount).

But neither of those tanks is my most hated in my garage right now. The S51 has that honor. Only need another 20k to get the upgraded gun...

i finished up the kv-1s, i had a blast with the 122, i think it was due to the matchmaker tho, as i was usually in the middle of the pack and could damage everything.
i just started the kv-13, hoping for a quick grind so i can get to the t43,44,54

If you have a premium account you can have 3 in the group. Any bigger than that and you'll have to form tank companies.

I've been working towards the isu-152 myself... got about 35k free exp saved up so I only need to grind 30k for the BL-10. It's a shame though, because I was thinking of saving up the exp for the good gun on the s-51 ... and just instead decided to not play it. Bought a little lt tractor and have been pewpew-ing in tier 1-3 battles...

Yeah platoon for 2 people is free in the upcoming patch, its due to be released on EU between 8th and 12th of this month, its already on russian server. Dunno if the 8-12 date applies to the US as well though.

The 3001P is trash compared to the 3002DB. I played and grinded through a 3001P recently so I know how it is. I would never recommend that tank to anyone to play. The DB however is one of the best dog fighting tanks of the game. As it is right now the DB's armor bounces more shots than a 3001P, Panther or a Panther 2. I'm not kidding.

Eek. I have been slowly grinding my KV to get that. What do you hate about it?

The S-51 with the 203mm upgrade can bring significant pain to any tank in the game. Its stock gun, however, is rather anemic in comparison.

The downsides of the S-51 are that it only carries 12 shells and it seems to have a very narrow range of barrel motion before requiring the whole SPG to move. And when it moves, you have to go through the entire re-aiming sequence.

BL10 is so worth it man, i love my 704 LOL.

i skipped the DB but everyone tells me the exact same thing.
the panther is horrible, every shot you take damages the engine. last night the first shot i took while hiding behind a rock, destroyed all my modules. this happens more often than you think :\

the panther (don't have panther II yet) bounces almost nothing
i can't recall bouncing much in all the games (~200) i've played with it so far.
it really does get damaged with the first shot you take, engine is either gone
or you get set on fire. i almost want to angle my body so i always get hit in the sides/tracks
so that my engine at least will still work LOL

The two Panther tanks do not bounce shells as often as the DB. However, the two Panthers do have more hit points and can take more damage overall. They just don't bounce the shells like a DB can. They take the hits and damage. Kinda like absorbing it which is different than bouncing. The new E-50 I hear bounces shells quite well so I'm looking forward to that.

To be honest, high tier SPGs reload so slowly that it's not often you'll run out of shells, even with only 12. I have a 100% crew and a rammer on my S-51 and usually end up with shells left over at the end of the match. Although I once got a medal for destroying the last remaining enemy with my last remaining shell. Didn't even know that was an accomplishment.

The Object 212 is MUCH nicer than the S-51, IMO. I had one in Beta and enjoyed it a lot more than the S-51. You have a wider arc of barrel movement on the Object 212, so you don't need to re-aim your reticule as often. Its top gun is the same 203mm as the S-51, but overall it's a much better SPG. Carries more shells and might have a higher ROF. It's been awhile since I played it, so I can't remember for sure. I'm within 10k exp of the Object 212, so I should have one in the stable again soon. Definitely looking forward to it.

I'd say go for the S-51. If you enjoy SPG's, you'll like the 203mm on it. Especially if you get some medium or heavy who rushes you thinking he'll get an easy arty kill only to find you loaded and ready to one-shot him.

I got the S51 because I love my KV. Made sense to just purchase it after I unlocked it. I am sure the gun upgrade will make me like this arty, but for now it is a LONG grind to 35k to get the gun.

I had 3 great games yesterday, a 9 kill game in my KV, a steel wall in my Panzer III!!??, and a dance of death in my assault Hummel.

The KV was on Mountain Pass, and I held off one flank by myself and then had to take out the last 3 opponents when I was the only ally left. The Panzer III was top man in a game and that pissed off the opponents. I only got 3-4 kills, but it absorbed a hell of a lot of firepower.

Our Arty Defense consisted of 2 hummels and an S51 against a wounded T29, fresh Tiger, wounded stug and fresh arty. The T29 and Tiger tried to come around one flank but a one shot S51 kill on the T29 and a tracking on the tiger stopped that. The Tiger went down after a reloading (and relocating from enemy arty). My assault Hummel found the enemy Stug and the dance of death started. He was armed with the 105 and scored a near miss on me for significant damage. I shot back and missed. He out turned me and I dodged his next shot as my allies brought him down. We then rushed the enemy arty. He was busy tracking me when again my allies took him out. Glorious, I did not do much but I attracted/distracted the enemy!

He's right. The DB bounces far more shells than the P or P2. Honestly, the DB was the most fun (and most competitive for its tier) German medium I've played, and I have a P2 with the 105 on it.

It's downhill from there. The Panther is MASSIVE and has about zero camo value. It takes ridiculous module damage. The grind is painful because the devs are assholes who won't elt you mount a camo net while stock. The long 71 is a damn fine gun, however.

EDIT: I wish I could say I was excited about 6.6, however I'm not expecting anything special from the E-50 except more German limitations. It would've been great to have another tank that played like a DB.

Those screenshots look a lot like the screenshots world of tanks has... IE artwork. I predict the game will not look anywhere as nice as that.

Only makes sense, though I will miss the models with the panther IIs running around with the 105. What about the armor values/sloping? I remember having a hell of a time fighting panther 2s with the dinky 100mm on my t-44.

Can't wait to fight the new E-series tanks though. Part of the fun in this game is to figure out how to break the other tanks...
