It takes weeks? Seriously? It only takes weeks if you play one or two matches per day. Even if you're freaking horrible, you'll fail upwards a hell of a lot faster than weeks or even week.

Um.

30 min per day is about 3 matches at most. Without premium, you will probably average maybe 2-300 xp per match on mid tier mediums. That's 1000 xp or less on the average day. You need about 12k xp to move from tier 4 to 5 - nearly 2 weeks. 25k to go from 5 to 6 - 3 weeks or more.

Math is fun.

Or get overrun by a fucking fleet of E75's or E100's or LOWE's.

This game has really gone down hill.

It's World of Tanks That Never Made It Off The Drawing Board.

rather fight a fleet of e-75s and e-100s and lowes (love shooting lowes) than get instagibbed by 4 tier 7 arties. At least I can shoot back and cross an open field.

Also most of the american tanks never made it off the drawing board, along with a lot of the german tanks (all the VKs, maus, etc etc etc). This game was full of prototypes before the type Es.

I tore through about 5 lines of the tier 1-3 soviet and german tanks yesterday in just a few hours, thanks to the 5X weekend bonus. I just bought each tank, then played 1-2 matches up through tier 2, and a bit more on tier 3. I got stuck pretty quickly though, when I found out that you can't sell more than 5 tanks per day. I ran out of garage slots.

I now own a Leopard and the tier 4 german medium (ZPKWFWKSPW III, or something like that). I'm having trouble with the german line just due to the indecipherable names!

Panzerkampfwagen III, or just pzIII. It does get a big weird though, what with the pz II, pz III, pz III/IV, pz IV, pz V/IV, and pz V, not to mention all the VKs. Just take it one step at a time

Bout time, I can't imagine why it took so long to implement.

I am looking forward to the battle types. French tanks seems like a dead end tree, I have no clue why they even listed them in the initial release, British seems to have a much full tree than French.

I agree, French tanks? Pre-40 they werent special and lacked radios. Post 40 they were mostly British and American equipment with a French flag.

British tanks imo are much more interesting. Firefly anybody?

I was very confused by this as well. French tanks didn't play a large part in the war (and they were mostly donations) where as sherman fireflies, cromwells, churchills, valentines and etc were used all over the place. I was actually very surprised that they put them all in as premium tanks for the soviet tree.

Yeah I think they would have to either remove the soviet models or add them in as a variant. I know I have a Churchill and if you understand it's limits it is a fun tank.

I have a newborn at home. I only get to play for up to two hours on Saturday and Sunday morning. If you have a string of bad matches, no real exp.

1. Offer to put the kid to sleep when he/she is done eating.
2. Wrap the kid an a kinda thick swaddle blanket.
3. Grab a passifier (passy) and put it on the computer desk near your keyboard.
5. Put your left or right foot on the foot of your chair (lifting the left or right knee).
6. Put the kid's head on that same leg that is lifted. (from step 3)
7. Let the kid's side against the desk to keep him/her locked in so they don't fall when you
use both hands on the keyboard and mouse...
8. Open world of tanks.
9. Pick tank.
10. Click on Battle.
11. Bounce your lifted leg gently.
12. Kid starts whining.
13. Grab passy and stick it in the kids mouth... (please don't quote and add any subs)
13. While grabbing passy you forgot about auto drive and your now surrounded by E75's
and E100's.
14. Your own arty 1 shot's you because they missed the E100 and the splash kills you.
15. You start crying.
16. Steal the passy from your kid.
17. Go grab a second passy for the kid.
18. Go back to step 5.
19. Skip step 13-18 FTW.
20. Kid falls asleep.
21. Keep passy in your mouth, it makes you a winner. (again, please funny quotes and subs here)
22. Keep the kid on your lap.
22. Keep winning for a couple hours each night.

Yes, I'm on my second newborn. Sometimes it's helpful to have a diaper and wipes near the desk .

Has anybody tried Nvidia and AMD video cards of relatively similar price? I'm feeling that my 4890 just isn't cutting it in windowed mode at ~1900x1200 with moderate settings. It's especially painful when the speed is needed the most - like when I'm scoped in and panning on that damned leopard that is whizzing past me as I struggle to turn my (stuttery) turret.

My impression is that Nvidia has an edge for this game, and maybe the 560ti ($185) is similar in performance to a more expensive 6950 ($250). It's damn near impossible to find graphics card tests with this game though.

Don't scope to kill them... just start tracking them with the sights and when you catch up to them, fire. And boom, they die. Aiming in will only cost you time and inaccuracy because your moving with no reference and your likely to hit a teammate.

I have to admit something, the last time I played my Panther I was sniping from a LONG way away. I was having difficulty keeping my mouse on the tank to shoot, so I ended up right clicking on them. Got 4 kills that way. The ultra long 75 can pen most tanks no matter where it hits them. Laziness for the win!

"We lost em" Yeah, because they are a burning hulk!

Auto targeting works great as long as they aren't moving. And when something small is moving, its a difficult target to hit without the scope.

Auto targetting is the worst and shouldn't ever be used.

If a tank isn't moving, the you have time to aim for a critical component like tracks or gun.

Eh, when even the slightest movement of the mouse knocks your aim off the tank... I *will* use auto aim.

Victory!
Battle: Erlenberg Tuesday, September 13, 2011 9:43:47 PM
Vehicle: VK 3001 (P)
Experience received: 3,950 (doubled for the first victory each day)
Credits received: 47,868
Battle Achievements: Master Gunner

Almost all auto-aim.

Say what you want about auto aim, but when you are dancing with one opponent and firing at another, auto aim *is* the way to go. Actually, any time you are doing technical driving, auto aim is very helpful.
