I see the Elcs guide actually recommends the 107. Is the drawback to the 107 being completely worthless to higher tier tanks?
//edit
re: 152
Shit maybe this is why I can't hit the side of a barn sometimes.

The attraction for me of the KV with derp is that the gun makes it effective no matter what tiered match the tank gets put in. You can't say that for the 107. The KV with the derp is one of the few tanks where I don't feel gloom and doom if tossed into a high tiered match. You can be on the very bottom of the tank heap but have a strong impact of the outcome of the battle.

The higher the tier is better since the earning potential is better and the challenge higher. I love tier 8/9 matches and putting big damage points on IS-3's, IS-4's, VK4502's, M103's, T28, Tiger 2's, and E75's that my higher tiered teammates are having problems dinging. I've taken out a 45 percent Tiger 2 with one shot to his side from mid-range (actually hit him twice, but he was at 45 with the 2nd shot that took him out), a 65 percent T28 with one shot to the side from mid-range, and a 100 percent Lowe with one shot into his rear point blank. I took out a 103 with three shots (to its front) once with a little assistance from a Lowe teammate holding him back between one of the long reloads.

As for accuracy, when derping, I expect to hit any short to mid-range shots with it. The secret is that -- just like any gun -- you have to aim and wait for the reticle to fully constrict. Since the aim is so slow on the KV derp gun, it's always good to pre-aim your shots when possible (so that you aren't exposed in a death zone for too long). In really good games, I'll hit 8 of 9 shots. I have streaks sometimes where I can't miss, but there are streaks that go the other way also where hitting that barn door seems like a challenge (those are less frequent).

Unless it's at close range, the targets have to be fairly exposed for the shot else, you're likely to miss. So if the target is partly behind an obstruction (like a building or a rock), it's going to be an iffy shot. That is, unless it is the top you happen to have as a target to shoot at. I've made good hits when only a sliver of their tops were exposed.

You have to aim even the point blank shots where the enemy tank is already filling your reticle when you first run into it. You can't just react with a point and shoot shot unless you want to waste your shot (sometimes you just react -- I still make those jumpy misses). Long range shots are a 50/50 sort of thing for me. I'll take them if I have the opportunity, but I know I'll have as good a chance of hitting as missing. That said, I've nailed a tank at 560m meters once. It's no worse than shooting long range with a lot of the other Russian heavy tank guns like the 122's where you often wonder where your shot went.

I might give the 107 a shot...the ~25s reload just destroys me. Fine when I have support, but when I'm the last KV...

Yes, you are right about that. The KV is best in a support role in the higher tiers since it is pretty helpless waiting for the long reloads, but it can work alone quite effectively sometimes.

I had a match where my derpy KV was the last tank left in a tier 7 level match up against seven other tanks (after my team ran off as lemmings and self-destructed). I went on and proceeded on taking out two KV's (one shot both of these), a VK3001 (two shot this), a T29 (though it was gimped at about 20 percent it was still a formidable foe for a KV), a panzer 4, and a panzer 3/4. That took about 10 derp shots to do, so there was a lot of time waiting for reloads to happen. In one of the engagements in the battle it was my KV against 3 in close range (vs the T29 and the two panzers). I survived because I used cover between the reloads and took advantage of the other team players not understanding the KV's weaknesses (the long reload). I was doing a lot of faking that I was going to shoot when I had nothing for a long time ... LOL!

With all that said, the 107 is an excellent gun also. I've used it on the KV-3. However, the 152 derp is what makes the KV a blast to play for me.

Thought I heard they pushed it out till the end of may? I honestly have a hard time believing they can split the soviet tree like this and get it in a month after the last patch.

Edit: So I guess they will push it out? I still cant believe they can introduce another large change to the game in a month. Guess we will see.

Dev's probably saw the American heavies killing more Soviet heavies and needed to update the soviet line quickly, least things start to balance themselves out.

Massive discount on gold this month, if you take advantage of the specials.

http://worldoftanks.com/news/1241-may-gift-shop-offers/

If you already have the tank you purchase in your garage, you will get a full refund of the gold prices of that tank *in gold.* So if you still have that T127 from the free giveaway, this is what you get for $40.00:

12,500 gold
10 garage slots
10 large repair kits.

That's 16,000 worth of gold right there. As a comparison, buying gold straight-up it would cost $50.00 for 12,000 gold. For any consumers of gold out there, this is a definite deal to take up!

Package "T-127, gold" for USD 3.99

Garage slot for the tank
+ 400 gold
Large Repair Kit: 1

Package "T14, gold" for USD 7.99

T14 tank
Garage slot for the tank
+ 1,000 gold

Package "T-25, gold" for USD 6.99

You'd have the T-127 in your garage, then buy the $3.99 package 10 times for yourself. Since you already have the tank, you get the gold back for the tank but possibly still get the slot, and you get the repair kit that comes with the deal.

It's cheaper than buying $50 worth of gold at $50USD = 12,000 gold.

As long as it really ends up working that way, that is.

Yeah, you gotta do it 10 times. But there's no restriction on doing it over and over. I picked the T127 deal because it's the biggest bang for the buck. You get the most free garage slots and large repair kits using that deal.

And it's been confirmed on the WoT forums that it is working as I described.

dear mother of god I hope this still works when I get home.

How much gold do you get just for the T127? I don't have that tank, so my first purchase would have to go to actually getting the tank.

I do have the T14, but that bundle doesn't come with as much stuff.

I've been wanting a tier 8 premium, but haven't wanted to spend as much money on it. This just might be the ticket.

EDIT: The Zelda screencaps being posted in that thread are priceless (excuse the pun)!

The T14 and T127 deals are pretty close in gold per dollar once you already have the tank. If you buy 10+, they are very close even if you have to buy the first tank and dont own it already, but you do get the repair kits with the 127.

Gold "refunds" for each tank:
T15 900 gold
T127 850 gold
T14 1,500 gold
T25 1,500 gold

The T127 normally costs 850 gold. So you're correct. You don't get 850 gold on your first purchase. You just get the tank.

But a Lowe costs $52.00 straight up or 12,500 gold. To buy it with gold, you'd need to spend $57.00 and have 750 gold in change. Using the gift shop T127 deal, you'd buy the T127 eleven times (400 gold on the first transaction and 1,250 for each one after that) to net yourself 12,900 gold for $44.00. You'll get a Lowe, a T127, 10 empty garage slots, 10 repair kits, 400 spare gold AND save yourself eight bucks. Can't really miss.

You get exactly the same amount of extra gold with the T127 as you do with the T14. T127 is 1,250 gold for $4.00 and the T14 is 2,500 gold for $8.00. However, not only do you get the repair kit with the T127, you also get twice as many free garage slots, which normally cost 300 gold per. On top of that, they gave away T127s for free a while back, so a lot of people may still have it in their garage.

Obvious question: is the Lowe the best credit generating T8 premium tank?

I WILL get a Kv3 before patch time damnit!

Does anyone have an opinion on the T34? I was gonna just get a KV-5, since I played around with one on test and it's acceptable, certainly so for the price compared to the other two.

I hate playing against T34's though and don't fear the Lowe or KV-5 at all, so I'm thinking that's the one I should probably get. At $10 off plus all the other crap, this might be enough to convince me to do it. Otherwise, it makes the KV-5 $24.

Lowe is considered the best credit maker, by far. It has an inconsequential repair and ammo cost and always hits for damage even if it does fire slowly. If you hit 10-12 times in a battle you win, expect to walk away with 100,000 credits.

The T34 has a better gun than the Lowe, but fires more slowly and needs to be played like a TD. It could make as much money as a Lowe if it only had the opportunity to fire as often. If you get a protracted game where you can lay out a lot of damaging shots, you make good money with the T34, but on average not as much as the Lowe.

The KV5 is more fun than either the Lowe or T34 because it is very well armored. But the gun is weakly penetrating and damaging. It does have a fast rate of fire though. You may expect to live longer in a KV5 and influence the battle more, but you likely won't make as much money.

The Type 59 is easily the most fun because it has magic armor made out of bouncitonium and performs like a T44. The gun is so-so but since it's very hard to damage the T59 head on, it's not that much of a downer. It won't make quite as much money as a Lowe because it can't put out as much damage, but it is much less tedious to play. In fact, it was so fun that too many people were buying it and skewing the match-maker. Hence it's been removed from the shop.

Came on here to post about the 'trick' of buying the gift tanks repeatedly... but you guys were faster

Wow, I'm about to have more garage slots than I could *ever* use, haha.

Question: Are any of the other gift tanks worth having in terms of fun factor? (T15, T14, T25) They don't seem too exciting but I want to make sure I'm not missing out.

Yeah, the Lowe is the better credit maker of the three (Lowe, T-59, KV5). I can get over 100k with my Lowe but not yet done it once with my T-59 and that is including before the T-59 tier adjustment. Best I have done in my T-59 is like 94k. Some folks have done it though. I just think it is easier to make credits with the Lowe. And like I have said before having a Lowe and T-59 where you can just swap back and forth in battles is just like printing money. Cha-Ching!

I'm getting more and more sever lag spikes recently. My ping usually hovers around 100, but it repeatedly spikes between 200 and 350 during games. And yes, I've turned off the porn downloads.

Either my ISP has gone to crap or the game is having issues.

Got Panther, Panther 2, E50, KV, KV3, IS3, IS4, T32, T34, M103, T110 and M18 in garage. Sold M41 and T29 to make room for Russian patch tanks. T30 is the only vehicle left but won't reach it before I lose interest again.

I like my T34 over my Lowe. My T34 seems to make more money on a loss. I prefer doing crew swaps with my T34-M103 and playing that combo than I do my Lowe-E75 combo for crew swaps.

T34 is more fun to play and I get more 1-shots with it than my (S)Lowe

Been playing my Hummel and love it way more than my Grille. It can actually take more than one shot and scoots really well. I'll have to get used to playing it as a TD when the option presents itself.

I think its thier servers. I usually get around 25-35 ping and it'll jump up to 100-200+ and my lag light will turn red for half a second of so. Its very frustrating when playing arty. They probably just need to reset some servers.

As for premium tanks, I would not buy a T34. Sure the tank makes money, but the gun reloads slow. On top of that, the gun aims incredibly slow also and suffers from really bad dispersion. Your hull is also made of paper, but then again, I guess the upside compared to the Lowe is that I dont get lit on fire every other game. My record is around 122k with 14 hits (not sure if all did damage or not though), normal games are usually 50-80k or so. I just never feel like I can effectively pull my weight as a tier 8 tank when playing the T34.

Lag: I see many players report it; I haven't seen ping go up, but I do sometimes see tanks start teleporting instead of moving.

Like, I'm trying to shoot at a moving enemy and he goes from 'here' to...... 'here' to..... 'here' instead of moving. Can't really shoot that. I didn't check ping.
