Yes, this would be vastly, vastly better. More choice is almost always the superior option.
I don't know why it'd be so difficult for them to institute a system where each player could choose to ban like 3 maps or maybe 1/3 of the maps or whatever. By adding a map to the ban list, you never play on it.
I think WG's fear is that then the people who really enjoy super unpopular maps will rarely get to play them since there would rarely be enough people. But to be honest if only like 10% of the population thinks a map is playable, there might be something wrong with it.
Adding the wait system might add a few seconds to everyone's queue time... but I've said this 1000000000 times: I'm willing to wait longer to be able to have GOOD games! GOOD = good teams, fun map, etc. For a game that lasts 6-10min, waiting 5sec vs 1min in queue is nothing.
But since they continue to refuse to do anything like that, I guess I'll take removal of maps I hate... it's an improvement at least.
