A stock E-50 or E-75 will murder your will to play this game. You'll need to blow over 100k free xp to make either of these tanks playable. A fully upgrade E75 is still a beast, and worth getting. I can't say anything about the E50 though since mine is still mostly stock and I refer to it as the "cursed" tank, as even getting my double in it is an epic feat.

On a happier note, I went 27-8 (77.1% w/l) yesterday. Definately one of my better days. 2 man platoons seems to make all the difference. A majority of those losses were in my arty, as my team just melted, not much I could really do.

Yeah..I could have unlocked the stock ISU, but took some advice and unlocked both 122mm guns on the SU first..that way I can go straight to BL-10 when I unlock the ISU.

I've read different things in regards to the 122mm vs Derp on the SU...not sure if I want to take a 15k xp detour and buy the tracks to mount it..

I could buy a torsion bar (500k) and bypass that..and then also use it on the ISU to save some time before BL-10

E-50 upgraded is an awesome sniper. The 105 really makes the tank, prior to that it's a bigger more sluggish Panther 2. The engine makes the tank into a medium. Unfortunately I think you need tracks - turret - 105 to make this tank an actual competitor in tier X because they're all prereqs.

But I blew free exp to make this thing enjoyable from the start, wouldn't know anything about any cursed tank. But the 88 L/71 is one of the best guns and you should have access to it stock.

And yes, SU-152 -> ISU-152 makes you go from DERP to kids crying on the forums about how OP ISU-152 is. I got torsion bars + BL-10 immediately on the ISU: nothing else is worth using on that tank when you got the BL-10 in the tech tree.

I'll make this my focus. I've heard the torsion bars can also go on the ISU-152 if you buy then on the SU-152. Thats true?

Also did you find the top 122mm on the SU-152 to be superior in farming xp than the derp?

Nope. Used the top 122 for 2 games, bounced half my shots, put the 152 back on and never looked back. I actually snipe people from 600m+ meters away with the 152 and manage incredible hits.... people think the arty hit them!

The torsion bars are just equipment and can go on any tank, so if you had some from the SU-152 you can demount it (using 10 gold) and then remount it on the ISU. Just beware... without the tracks and engine AND the BL-10 you will turn slower than a stock ferdinand.

The 88 L/71 is woefully underpowered on a tier 9. 203 pen and 240 damage just doesnt' cut it at this point. It was great on the panther 2, but very inadequate on the E50 due to your competition being more heavily armored. I'm sure the E50 is great fully upgraded (just like the E75), but grinding to that point without using free xp is a very painful experience.

Another big jump in capabilities besides the SU->ISU is the IS->IS3. The IS-3 actually has armor that bounces shots, and once you get the BL-9 on the IS-3, its definately a contendor for the best tier 8 heavy.

I agree, but it's the best stock gun you'll have. I mean, look at Patton's stock gun... Hell, look at the IS4's stock gun. /barf

The 88 L/71 is still a great gun, and if you get flanking shots in on even a maus turret you'll pen. I've damaged tier 10s with the gun before on both the tiger and panther II, and it's much better than any other alternatives you have. I mean, you're not penning any tier 10s frontally... unless its a T110.

I'd also say hummel -> GW Panther is also a big jump, but I dislike arty in general and don't want to see any more of them on the field than I have to.

It's also one of the most accurate, rapid-firing and high damage arties in the game. The reload is only like 25-30 seconds? Compared to that, the S-51 reload is 45 seconds and the soft stats (accuracy) are significantly worse, but I'm pretty accurate with it...

edit: It's also super fast and relocates well.

I hated the hummel. I hated everything about it. The S-51 is very nice - IF you're aimed at the right spot. It aims somewhat quickly and it has pretty good accuracy and (better) damage, but the gun has a very narrow range of view before re-aiming is required. Your target doesn't have to move very far to cause you to incur the damned 6 second re-aim penalty. S-51 is 6 degree gun arc, compared to 26 degrees on the GWP. That's a huge difference.

And then you will hate life again once you get the GWTiger. I love it when my team has a clue about how to protect arty, but once I see that light or medium coming through the line...I just try to get one last shot off because its so big and slow. I too love my GWPanther and its still one of my preferred tanks to play.

T62 is a fun little tank. Not quite as peppy as they make it out in the video. But that could be from my crew having low skill. But still pretty well armored for being a light tank.

One of those games where every shot landed and ammo racked them. My favorite was an AMX 50 100. I saw him in a protected area with only one way out. Closed the reticle down on his escape route. Guessed when he would pass through and one shot him from full health.
