The 152 isn't for everyone, but the ammo is cheap and it can be pretty fun if you can appreciate its derpiness. In particular, I have fond memories of derp-sniping across El Halluf into the sides of passing heavies, especially KTs.

+1 on everything else in the line being whale-like. I think the 704 is decently agile, but compared to an su100 it is absolutely an orca. But, the best thing about the 704 is you won't get two-shot anymore; its mantlet is amazing and the front armor is angled enough that you will get bounces if they aren't well aimed shots. The 152 and ISU may look like they have nice big mantlets, but those are actually just armorless hitboxes for your gun.

I'm just trying to figure out how exactly to use the 152mm. My problem is that its not exactly accurate enough for good sniping at long range.

At short range, it doesn't do enough damage to kill equal tier tanks in one shot, unless of course you get a weakpoint hit.

But, its so slow and its armor is so weak that, getting those hits are basically a self destruct strategy.

Also apparently I can't win with this tank. Only won 2 out of 10 games. What the hell.

All that matters for HE is your roll and the armor you hit; it doesn't lose damage or pen over range, with that and the 152's fragility I found it best to stay back as far as possible. Any time you can take a shot on their broad side, or if they are pitched down (allowing you to hit their roof), take it. Some players will derp for as long as they have targets, but your reload is long enough that most will have time to repair tracks and scoot before you can fire again. So, I would try to wait until they're engaged by someone else or they're very exposed.

Either way, if you're not already very good at sniping you will be by the time you're done with the derp. Being a derp, its flight time is quite long and it arcs a lot more than normal. The arc is automatically adjusted for but it will still affect your shot in ways that can be hard to describe. But for example, if you can see the top sliver of a turret over a rise, aim directly at the sliver and the shell will likely arc over the rise and land a bit below where you aimed on their turret. If you can adjust for the arc and flight time of a derp you can do so for just about anything.

Like so many other derpers, if they get close the best thing is often to try to track them then reverse into cover while allies engage them. You can try carrying a round of HEAT or two, in case you find yourself close enough to hit a spot weak enough to penetrate, but I wouldn't bother with it given how much HEAT has been nerfed and how much it costs.

Edit: But don't worry too much about good sniping at long range. As long as you hit them somewhere you will do enough damage to make them notice. Once your crew hits 100, especially if you have bia, you can try to fine tune your shots to hit their weaker points. The main thing though is learning how to lead properly so you get consistent hits.
edit2: Well, the other big thing you can do is remember your HE pen and remember what you can penetrate. A contour mod will help, but basically the list is every medium or TD that you can hit in the side (without hitting their track). Once you're confident with what you can and can't one-shot derp you can play as more of an assault gun, ambushing 3601s and annihilating them from the side.

If you're close enough for equal tier tanks to shoot at you, you will go up in flames very quickly. The point is to either play support (have another guy eat a shot or take the initiative, and you pop around and blast someone for 300 and then scoot back) or to snipe from a distance. A loaded SU-152 is an intimidating road block to all the tier 5s and 6s.... until you fire. Then you're a sitting duck for the next 20 seconds. If you can hit someone in the weak spot.... well, it does as much damage as a BL-10 on a pen.

So make sure you have support.

I've had 700 m hits on malinovka. People thought they were getting hit by arty and was cussing him out. :awe:

I also can't win with the AC 1946, some TDs are just not carry tanks. They are fairly decent on their own though.

lots of 2-4000 damage dealt in losses. my play has improved, and my win rate suffers. it's like farting against an avalanche of retard.

The retards were out in full force this weekend, and they were all on my team. That and I think they finally implemented that patented code into MM. My platoon ended up bottom tier in at least 75% of our games over the weekend. It was rough. Hell we even had a game where it was my tier 6 platoon and 12 tier 8s. Worse part is, as tier 6s, we still topped the damage charts. Its just sad.

I also had TWO, tier 10 only games. Those games are a pain in the ass. One we were destined to lose from the start. Redshire, enemy team consists of half TDs and the other half is mediums; my team, almost all heavies and 2 TDs. Yeah, needless to say we lost that one as the mediums lit my team up and the camping invisisble TDs would insta-gib whatever was lit. Was a sad game for my poor E-100.

I still ended in the postitive, but barely, and I dont know if it was worth my sanity. The missions were nice, and I picked up an extra 2 days of premium so far, and the 300k credits is easy enough to get. I forgot to load up on premium ammo during this sale (funny at 30% off, the prices were pre-8.6 prices, what a joke of a deal). I have enough credits anyway to shoot premium whenever I want, and the 300k credit mission helps keep me in the positive.

I'm amazingly 11 for 11 on my little T21 that I play solo in for my double. The thing can be such an annoying little fly. I've had a few 2k+ damage games in it so far. I've even had tier 8s complaining that I'm shooting gold. I guess 115 damage with 176 pen every 3.3 seconds get annoying after awhile. Even with my success so far in this tank, I do hate playing it, as you're always 1-2 shots away from death, and its almost impossible for me to play passive scout (I feel I have to shoot tanks I can see, since my teammates are usually retarded and can't hit moving targets).

Finally fired up the game. Pretty fun so far. Total scrub atm.

Just to confirm: this game does NOT support sli right?

yea pretty much whoever has more TD's have been winning the matches lately as they just rock your shit once you're spotted. i've never feared another tank like i do the foch155.
i could care less about jgpze100's or the 183s. funny thing is everytime i'm in my amx50b, i get 1 shotted by a 183 everytime

but thank god there's still almost no arty every match. this is what makes the game fun now.

I think the general population feels the same way, because I see way more tier 9s and 10s now. Arty is just an annoyance now that there's less of them, but you can still 1 shot people occasionally. I still see a few running around, and yesterday a 45% SU-14-2 1 shotted a 112 on my team AND splashed the tiger 2 next to him for 400 damage. Then later he splashed me for 500.

Fortunately our arty was doing the same, and we eventually ended up winning because I managed to kill 5 guys and maim another 2 on the hill of el haluf. (E-75 is such a bully). Good arty players don't seem to be affected by the nerfs at all though, it just thankfully tones down the 45% clickers

But yeah, big TDs have always been scary for me. Previously you had to look out for those AND arty, now I can focus on using the terrain to dodge (or try) to avoid getting my ass shot off.

This sums up the entire game so nicely

You really need to find something less stressful to do between rounds of wot. With time, wot could make a raging misanthrope out of any monk of any creed.

I finally sold that miserable POS T25/2! That tank really needs to have the 105mm - it's damn near useless with that 90mm that can't reliably pen anything near its level.

T28 Prot seems much, much better. Slow as shit, but it has a non-toy gun.

hahaha the t25/2 was the worst grind due to the shitty gun. to get the t28 proto must have taken me at least 3+mos. i HATED even just doing the daily doubles on that thing. it was that bad.

the t28 proto is awesome once you get the last gun. the armor is good and often times i can just slowly break thru defenses as long as i keep hull down against them.

everyone with the t30 is telling me to enjoy it now as the t30 is a huge downgrade armor wise. i'm enjoying the grind and am in no rush to get to the t30

i don't mind at all actually. TD's should be feared and avoided only to be flanked if possible. arty however i feel is way easier now than it was before. at least for my 261. i have tons of patience and am doing a lot more damage then pre nerf.

The T30 requires you to play where you don't get shot - and it also seems to not pen a lot.

But it does feel like a beast when you do pen.

IMO, good arty players are affected by the nerfs. The flight time is especially an issue making it even easier for enemies to not get hit than it already was.

Moving tanks at distance are now a low chance to hit. You have to hope to catch campers out of cover or tracked tanks at just the time time when you're pre-aimed and reloaded.

I have mixed games - still some good ones, got my first 300k bonus in a game with top gun on arty, and others filled with almost no damage possible.

You know, I hated the T25/2 too. But when I was done with it, my winrate in it was way higher than it was in my hellcat which I loved. Maybe the tank being so terrible has me playing way conservatively, which helped put out more damage per round otherwise? /shrug

Which is the way it should be. Sure, slightly affected, but arty shouldn't have pinpoint accuracy just by locking turret and spinning. Good players will adjust and still hit things moving at 800m, although with a bit of difficulty, which is they way it should be.

I'm less concerned about being derped by a 45% clicker now, which is great. If I get hit by a moron arty I deserved it. The difference between good and bad arty players is night and day now, and arty now requires skills to be good, just like other tanks.

How is sli scaling? Having a hard time finding info. Everything I read says sli doesn't work or it doesn't utilize the second card.

Had a number of arty games today (only arty as usual) in which bad teams lost the game with nothing arty could do, sometimes letting the enemy get to our base the first minute.

So quick question, how exactly do you counter fast scouts in a slow as shit tank?

I'm having this massive issue, where I can't get to a half decent firing position, because many times a fast scout manages to get to me at the very beginning and long range tanks get me

nothing you can do except backup all the way as soon as the round starts
unless there is bushes you can backup into and hide.

especially in campinovka, usually 1-2 tanks either get destroyed or badly hurt within the first 10 seconds

Malinovka there's nothing you can do. The scout only needs to go about 50M to spot your whole team. However that's the exception, not the norm. The map is pretty broken and whoever has a "good" scout will see the other team annihilated or severely battered before they can do anything.

what you can do is back up immediately, or drive towards the two buildings to avoid shots. You have about 10 seconds, or 20 seconds before the big TDs load and fire.
