I agree. Complaining about people using gold is stupid.

Personally, I do think gold IS stupid and shouldn't be in game (or maybe limited to 5 rounds/match or something). But I fault the developers for that. Can't fault the players for using an available tool.

Just had an awesome game in my JP E100. I start off like a total Donkey as I can't get a handle on my gun depression on the hill in himmelsdorf. But I don't like the hill and I don't usually go that way, I just felt compelled this time since I spawned at the top.

Came down to me, on 111 health, vs an E100, a 183, a Waffles, and a Arty. I took them all down for the win, including finding the arty who decided to go AFK with only 30 seconds left.

oh i'd prefer if gold rounds didn't exist either, you'd have to flank or hit something from the rear and use your brain. but it's here to stay like arty.

Heh guess I am wrong then.
The battle I posted that ss from was worthy of a youtube upload too but I only took screenshots.

It was a loss from the start and I was trapped covering the eastern approach with 4 of them coming, I killed the first one and just barely got to push that dead tank to block the path of another as it just about came up to pass through that gap. These guys knew what they were doing just like the other tanks I encountered, unlike in that 15 kill video. I got 29k battles retail and beta combined, if I had pulled this off it would have been the most epic recovery ever. It probably would have worked if our arty hadn't killed that one team mate that was helpful:

I have had this game for two weeks now. Having a blast. So much so I made a micro purchase. It felt right to help support them.

That being said, with more micro purchases coming, what tier II tank shot I look at?
Lots of love for the T18. And I think the panzer II.
Always read that panzer tanks were bad ass. The T18 is an issue for me because they are crazy overpowered. I HATE them in game.

Another thing I want to ask; these weekends, do they invite a lot of AFK people?
All victories are 2x XP and there is a loser bonus. More AFK'ers than I have ever seen.

Weekends always have the highest number of terrible players. A combination of weekend specials/bonuses plus a lot of people are off from work/school.

As far as tanks, I think that at tier 2 it's kind of a free for all. It's some of the most balanced game play in WoT. Find a line you want to go down and start there, but at low tiers at least you can afford to spread yourself around a bit.

T18 not a problem for my T26. Premium shells cut right into them. I laugh when I take one out.

This weekend is a rare case. First time they did a 2X for every winning battle. They did something like it before but it was just one day and not three. Figures it's a weekend I had to work too. Damnit. And yes, something unique like this draws out everyone and their brother and sister and that is including the idiots and botters. Whenever WG offers a day or weekend like this expect the worse. Of course a lot of good players come out too so its not all bad.

Yeah. I probably won't buy premium shells. I am buying garage space. And tanks for my stable. Maybe some camo. Some tats.
But who knows.

Ok. So what's your recommendation for level two. Or three.

Editing... Camo... Not CAMP LOL

I'd kind of set my eyes on what looks like fun for Tiers V/VI so you can work towards that. Tier II doesn't last very long and the games starts getting real fun (IMO) at around Tier V.

Generally, what kind of playstyle do you think you would like.

Do you like to be out in front and tank with heavy armor?
Do you like to do a lot of damage?
Do you like speed and mobility?
Do you like to scout for others?
Do you like being able to relocate to battlefield hotspots?
Do you like sitting back and sniping people and being hidden so they can't see you?
Do you like to click your mouse button occasionally?

I would recommend focusing on a single nation, and then choose one of each type of tank, instead of spreading out too much.

I'll have to agree w this. I started out by searching on google "best medium/heavy/spy/TD" etc and of course at each tier it's a dif nation who has the best tank. I'm now at tier II/III but I'm finding it almost impossible to actually have all the "best" tanks at any given tier because I only have 8 slots.

I'd recommend either sticking with one nation and going through their tank tree, or just one type of tank spread across many nations.

I'd recommend the first one so you can play many different types of tanks at once. More fun that way.

So now that I've been playing the game for about a week or so..I'm really starting to like Tank Destroyers. At first I hated them because of the way they played compared to lights or mediums, but I'm kind of digging the way they play.

Currently playing the T18 a lot...Any other recommendations? I read the T18 is a more aggressive tank where some of the others might be a sit back and snipe away kind of style.

Also the grinding becomes much slower at higher tiers, so if you want progress in a specific line you simply don't have time to play all your tanks.

I've mostly played the British line and some of the German, and from tier VIII of the British line up until you get the L1A1 guns in tier IX it is a really slow grind.

i wouldn't lock yourself into lower tiers, you can usually play a few games and research just what's needed to get to the next tier.

by tier 5 you should start grinding your crew skills (imo)

so yesterday i was able to grind out the last 100k and get the object 430. i was REALLY looking forward to chilling this week but with the special missions (bonus credits if placing top X of match) i guess i'll be grinding again since i'm tapped out credit wise.

WOW Lots of GREAT advice. Thank you all.
Actually, I just picked up that one tactic mentioned above by noticing my crews.
Yeah, I have been SPREADING the play amongst my stable. Learning, watching etc.
And thought NOTHING of it.Till I noticed...

I got 14 (Or whatever the number is) guys all trained at 30% or so.

Yup, Going ONE maybe TWO nations. For crew focus.
So, question change. What is the opinion here on tier 4's and 5's?

And to add to the info I can provide. NOT a fan of scouting. I scout, and Arty and Heavies DONT respond. I had campers PEGGED for what seems like an eternity. Not shooting my little "Pew Pew" guns. Radio upgraded. And either have to run away or get shredded in one shot with the campers staying fat dumb and happy.

I like doing damage and sniping. BUT, not a base defender... Scouting? Have yet to find effective team play. Maybe that will come later.
Yeah, I would love to hear "That Bounced" or "ricochet" when speaking to MY tank and not being said about my rounds with my "Pew Pew" guns. . So armor would be nice as well.

a lot of german heavies/mediums are "snipers" as well. The panthers line and tiger series in particular are poor brawlers but are good at 300m+ engagements.

The Jagdtiger series have good armor as well (relatively speaking). Just note that most russian and american TDs are not all that accurate, but they pack a big punch.

The Google route got me data from 2012 to 2013...... Even the official forums had data threads.
I will try Yahoo maybe later tonight.

Everything I read states that TD's are CRAZY inaccurate and short sighted. They DONT seem inaccurate with my lowly 1's and 2's....
I just hate them because they OWN me. :whiste:

What would you consider to be a good Brawler?
Curious. Never thought a tank to be a brawler. At my level its "Our Track is Hit" to being a pile of scrap metal...
So something that I can drive, engage and that can take and trade blows. Maybe having a chance to experience the science of WHAT to hit (Turret track etc.) as opposed to Aim, Close EYES Shoot. Pray. If REALLY lucky try ducking behind that rock.

IS line, russian mediums and chinese mediums are all good brawlers. American mediums are also pretty good brawlers but they're bigger and softer targets.

The E-75 is also good brawler, kind of the odd ball in the german heavy line. I don't have an E-100 so I can't attest to its brawling abilities.

low tier tank destroyers are fairly inaccurate, and most likely they won't have good crews so the dispersion and aim time is crazy. Once you hit tier 5-6 they start being real snipers universally, with the exception of the russian 152s.

Once you get past tier 3-4 aiming becomes important. You'll start running into big tanks consistently and you'll need to seriously aim to be able to damage things like the KV and to a lesser degree, the shermans.

I don't see an improvement, I see a "suggestion" to resolve an existing problem, a terrible suggestion at that. There are a lot of shit tanks that can't pen stuff in its own tier, much less the +2 tier tanks it gets matched up to. ESPECIALLY the low tier tanks that newbies grind through.

Or are you actually thinking that low tier tanks should be shooting gold to get mastery? Or maybe AFK through enough battles until you get lucky with the MM to land a master 1 badge to move up a tier?

yeah, great "improvement". I'm glad you don't work for WG or the entire playerbase would be gone in a week.
Except that Mastery Badges are based on your performance relative to other people using the same tank. So even if you're trying to grind through a "terrible" tank, all you have to do is have one match where your XP places you in the top 95% for that particular tank to get MB level 1.

Really, all they would need to move on to the next tank would be one good match. Mastery Badge Level 1 isn't all that difficult to earn and it would keep the bots/chronic AFKers from advancing without putting at least a little effort into the game.

And how exactly does someone who is AFK manage to get a Mastery Badge 1 award? I have quite a few battles in WoT and have yet to see that happen.

My TD (T18) has the best scope out of all my tanks so far.. (only on tier III). It's pretty accurate if you let it aim in properly and account for the fact this game does throw in gravity in the trajectory. Plus, I love the armor. Tiny little light tanks with their 20mm shells can't penetrate me.

Based on this, you might want to go T49 --> Hellcat. Now, these have no armor. But they can move around the battlefield (so, not on the cap) and snipe really effectively. The Hellcat is considered one of the best vehicles in the game, tier for tier.

In terms of longer term plans, the E 50 M is a good sniper that has some decent armor.

First commander skill should always be sixth sense IMO. Once you played with it you really feel you miss it when not having it.
