I am so bad at this game. I don't know where to be or when to move, really. How the balls do you get your WN8 scores into the 3000 range? Christ.

by stat padding like a mofo pretty much.
get the tanks that have low expected wn8 values like the e50 or t62a
and play those a ton

or let your team die and pad stats by farming damage from the back

i wouldn't say bs, but it's mainly based on damage done avg'd out against others in the same tank. so if you're doing a shit ton of damage that's good, but if it's when the game is already lost and you're just farming.......useless. which is what chai is known for, hugging the map edges farming damage contributing nothing to their teams

So WN8 values are just BS anyway?

depends. It shows that you can do good damage in your tank and aren't a YOLOer. On the other hand there are worthless players that just farm damage so they can look good, but they're terrible players. Typically you'll see this for people that have above WN8 but low win rates.

Well, I agree a bit on the WN8 value. It really doesn't show everything, like the guy who went left because no one else on the entire team covered left and gets overwhelmed by 4-5 players on the other team...

That said, I am liking mine lately (except the stats at the bottom for recent games are still messed up):

If you have a low win rate and high wn8 it means you are padding stats without winning.

If you have a high win rate but low wn8 it means you are platooning/being carried/or playing some massively OP tank that it is hard to get good stats in it.

If you have a high win rate and a high wn8... it is probably because you are a good player. Still requires more looking, average tier, tank choices, etc.

If you have a low win rate and low wn8... you are probably a poor player.

I can't break out of 2k wn8. I can't break out of 60% win rate. It is what I am.

i have way to many games to even try to break 2k wn8, i'll be forever in the 1800s once i get there hahahahahah

so based on your #s, im right where i should be ~1750wn8 and 53% w/r

Dear lord I just looked up my wn8 and it's a horrendous 103. I obviously am not playing correctly. My player name is DaFreak on the NA servers and I want to improve. So if anybody wants to watch my replays or platoon a game or teo let me know.

You only have 299 battles. Don't worry too much about it yet. Just keep working at it.

It might be good to watch some youtube videos to see how skilled players drive. Circon/SirFoch/Quickybaby are all good, but they might be too far advanced for you to get much at this point.

RitaGamer or Jingles would probably be a better place to start. They are slightly above average gamers, but not super great, so their level of play is something that would be easier for you to aspire to at this point. Rita also plays a lot of lower tiers so you can see games played at the Tiers you are currently playing.

I'd also be willing to look at some gameplay videos. I could even platoon on a weekend but this weekend I'm going on a trip so wouldn't be able to until next weekend.

I would also recommend trying to do Tier V as much as possible. You are going to run into Tier VII a lot, which will be rough for you as you are just beginning the game, but the skills you pick up to really play this game well only start becoming apparent at Tier V (IMO), so you will probably do better in the long run by starting to learn those now.

Forgot the links.

SirFoch: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYmKvoh0a_7yx0PKNtSSrNA
Circon: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIfC9vBGqGeLPKgTjYaBSug

Those are also probably in the order that I'd recommend watching them (Circon/SirFoch are probably tied). Rita and Jingles are closer to your skill level, and Rita plays lower tiers. QuickyBaby is a very skilled player, and what's nice about him is he explains his reasoning for doing what he does a lot, so you understand why he does things. Circon and SirFoch are probably a bit more skilled than QB.

You have been a player since 2011. But you only have 300 battles. The E4 is a complete pile of crap and as a release gift, it is a travesty (of course so was the PZ 5/4, at least the mutant 6 has armor).

If you play infrequently, don't expect to improve a lot. Changes to maps, mechanics, tanks, and meta from all of those means that the game you knew 3 years ago is not the same now.

Previously I did play infrequently as I pretty much took a couple years off. I'm now playing about 3 hours a day and re-learning the game. I'm finding that I typically play better with TDs and heavies. Currently I have an SU-85B and a D.W.2 that I'm working towards getting the tier V tanks afterwards. If there are other tanks I should look into feel free to let me know.

nsafreak, I would be happy to platoon up with you this weekend. I just need to finish the On Track to Leopard 1, about 40k XP to get the free tank.

I would suggest KV-1, Russian heavy tank, as an option for you to consider. I hear it's a good beginners tank.

I didn't get a good grasp on things until I went over 5,000 games played. Where to be on a map when rushing at start, where NOT to be. I'm still learning myself.

I do have an invite code if you want it. It is for new accounts though, does come with gold, premium tank (don't know what though), and premium time (1 week?). You would have to start over though, only negative.

I use microamp for in game name.

I concur with KV-1. Look at the line to get the IS-7. Probably the best new player line as every tank, once you get to tier V, ranges from "solid" to "awesome".

Thanks for the advice. I had been focusing on the german tanks because of the monthly event. Back when I first started playing I got up to an IS tank and really enjoyed it. Sounds like it'd be a good idea to go back to my reliable russian line of tanks.

I'd say that's a good way to go while you learn the mechanics of the game. If you prefer Germans, go E100 line.

if going up e100 line, start training 2 crews earlier as you're gonna want to keep the e75 i kept mine

I agree with this. Two for sure keepers of the line are E75 and E100.

That being said, it was my very first line, and I didn't know about swapping crews (I catch on slowly sometimes). So I literally bought a new crew for every vehicle in the line, even when I sold the previous tank.

Have three skills on my E75 though and two on my E100. I used to love the E75 as my favorite tank. Still like it, but I've been finding myself liking the E100 more lately. Took me a while to warm up to it, but it's actually a good tank IMO once you figure it out.

by figure it out you mean sling heat 99.9% of the time? hahaha
not worth trying to aim for each shot to make sure it pens then waiting 16 sec if it doesn't imo. you can just quickly aim for a weakspot and snapshot with heat.

No I pretty much never fire HEAT unless it's another E100 firing HEAT at me, or I really need to try and dig out a JPE100 or E3. I only take 8 HEAT shells to battle.

The game I did 8k damage in my E100 I only fired two HEAT rounds the whole game, and neither penned. I suck at firing HEAT, so I tend to avoid doing so

If you look at my stats, you can see a definite point where all of a sudden I "got it" so to speak. It was around 5k battles, and you see a sharp uptick on all the measuring sticks for performance. However, I bet this comes in at different times for different people.

Is it just me or are there certain times of the day/night where you're more likely to get poor teamplay? The one thing that annoys me the absolute most in this game is that so few people actually communicate for teamwork. I pay attention to the map as much as I can but I'm pretty much guessing where I think folks are going and what they're going to do since nobody says a dang thing in team chat and I don't think anybody uses voice comms. It seems that the teamplay gets even poorer as the night goes on and the matchups tend to get even worse, but perhaps that's all in my head.
