Any tips on how to play the Churchill 3? I've got 23 matches in it and getting my glacis shoved up my ass 61% of the time.

Horrible tank that misses left and right. At least I can convert it to credits I guess for a KV-1 or something.

I've never played it, but looking at it in Tank Inspector it looks pretty bad. Sorry

Also, how to do more damage than the rest of your team combined:

It is really bad. I could get decent with it, but the gun is *really* bad, and virtually every opponent I've come across are wise to it and shoot everywhere but that armored postage stamp in the front. I'm not even in full brawler mode with it, and it still gets demolished.

My advice with all flat armored tanks is: stay at range and angle at ~30 degrees. They will be unable to aim for weakspots, and you will be able to spam shots with ease. You might need to toss premium shells in for some targets.

Full disclosure: I have never had *any* churchill tank.

[edit] and don't sell a premium tank, at least use it as a crew trainer for your aforementioned KV-1.

How does the American MT line fare after the Easy 8? And the LT line after the Chaffee?

These are the tanks I play - and enjoy the most. My Easy 8 is almost 60% WR, getting better all the time. My Chaffee went from 65% to 57% . People rarely take advantage of spotting at this tier, so it's getting annoying to spot for people who don't take advantage of it.

Easy 8 is a huge blast, though...just enough of everything to turn the tide of a game on teams that are paying attention. Myself, another Easy 8, and a T-34 utterly rolled 3/4th's of the opposing team so quickly that it was scary. Would be nice if American mediums were this good or better moving up the tiers.

I thought they were great, I don't remember the T20 (55 games 78% wins) at all but the Pershing (220g 56%) and Patton (195g, 51% -ack thought I did better in this) are good tanks, with 10 degrees of gun depression. The turret armor on the latter two were fairly bouncy, not T29 bouncy.

From what I understand, they're not great at anything (except gun depression) but average at everything.

Don't know about the tier 10 Patton, I'm waiting for a sale before buying it. Hopefully an On Track Mission will appear for it soon.

M48 is fine for pub stomping, but will probably never be selected for cw unless they're out of tanks.

Mainly it's a victim of powercreep and a painful barrage of nerfs shortly after it was introduced. Also it's somewhat slow and very large, making it an easy target for arty.

There was a brief note about it getting adjusted in the future but haven't heard anything else since then.

Stay with the M46 Patton as it's much better than the M48.

So I fly out to SF tomorrow. Looks like the first day we'll be visiting the WG office... wonder if they have any codes laying around

Enjoy and good luck.

I do have some questions though, do they play the finals in some local server so that lag is not an issue?

What about keyboard/mouse/headset? Provided or can you bring your own? If you bring your own, can you load drivers?

I'm fairly certain we'll be connecting to the west server. Everyone will probably have 20 ping. In China they actually had a special client/separate tournament server, but it's still in an outside DC and not on the LAN.

You can bring your own keyboard/mouse or use the standard ones they provide. You wear either your or their earbuds with a special headset over them. The headset has something that creates white noise so that you cannot hear the audience/announcers.

Wow this sucks, the new missions require you to platoon up. This is the same reason I was unable to finish the personal missions. I have no friends that play this game. Not only that, but I barely ever socialize while playing and I have no plans on joining a clan, fml.

Same here. I do not play with anybody else. I just join and play. Them forcing to platoon up sucks.

Meh, all missions are not for everybody. I didn't get any of the clan wars missions done, I didn't get any of the strongholds missions done, I didn't get any of the 'on the track to...' insert tank line I don't care about done, but I didn't complain.

However, I will say this: I strongly suggest joining an in game channel (wotlabs is the one I use when I want to platoon and nobody else is on) and give platooning a try. As an added benefit, get a mic and join a teamspeak server. It adds a whole new dynamic and makes it much more social.

Do either of you play on the NA servers? If so, I can offer my services. I believe I down to the platoon missions only for the T28 Concept. Also, even if I get my stuff done, I'll still work to get yours done.

I also believe I got teamspeak3 server running on the gaming PC too. Just haven't fully tested it...

Good luck Venom!

Platoon is just not my thing either. I do it sometimes. I'm still on the Stg missions needing to do the LT,MT,HT,SPG platoon missions. I will get around to asking for help from some clan members because my E4 has only one chic in it right now. LOL

Wow this game has changed a lot from inception. It's a far cry from the fun lightweight game it once was to this bloated game that has missions, platoons, etc.

it's always had platoons
and missions are there only if you want to do it for free tanks
i'm not actively trying to get the missions done, i do activate it and if i get it complete during the course of just playing, then cool. if not, don't care haha

@Slag,
Seems like every online game I have ever played got bloated as time went on. Nature of the beast I guess. I been playing WoT since early beta too. Seen many many changes. The more tanks you add the harder it is to balance properly.

@Others,
For the platoon missions just ask people in the general chat room or people in game for help. Usually you can find someone to help if you try hard enough. If platooning still repulsive to you then dont do it and dont worry about that SU100. Its an okay tank but its nothing special. Yeah, its big but the armor is soft on it. Best thing about it is the gun and that's it. You don't need it to play the game and have fun. Remember, WG rarely ever gives away anything good.

Personally if WG really wants to impress me and get me to log in every day.... give me more than credits (which I do appreciate to some degree).... give me Free XP or Free Gold. Its more valuable.

@Slag,
Have you had to reinstall the whole client? It takes way longer to download than it did 4 years ago. It's a bloated game for sure, but not all the bloat is bad.

@Skott
To a degree your right in that WG rarely gives away good things. You do missions to earn a premuim tank that would cost gold or other goodies. Sometimes doing the mission are fun in that so many say you can't even get them done. I have gotten a free T34, IS 6, WZ 111, T14 and got the gold because i already had a D-Max,Churchill 3 and just last weekend T 14. Some mission take some commitment to finish but are well worth doing.

By the way, check my name: jojoman and look at my SU 100Y. In 847 games it has a W/R of 57.14% 777K damage and 1153 kills. Set it up to stay in the back and snipe because it's so big and easy to spot with poor armor and destory the enemy with that big gun.

Wow...hopped on my Bulldog today to get my first win of the day, what proceeded was a game of intelligence and maneuverability. I never imagined that I would get a mastery having done less damage than I have done in the past but somehow I managed it. I would have gotten 8 Kills but arty on my team stole the last one.

My best game in Bulldog, 19,000 WN8 game, 8 kills, 4.2k damage.
http://wotreplays.com/site/1676148#self

Then a few days ago in my Ru 251 in Stepped map-standard battle, I completely choked. 4vs1, T-54, T69, ISU-152 and their arty. Starting from the north at that point, I got T-54 killed via HEAT rounds, ran away from a T69, broke engagement. Went East, stayed low to ground, to hunt for their arty, didn't want them pestering me. I figured the 152 T69 would cap.

Found their arty and cap timer kicked in. Zipped back over to base with timer at 80'ish and do bush hiding style and just failed when I foolishly decided, reuse the bush. Boom, ISU.

Gotta love games like those, makes you feel like your a boss at end of it. My highest DMG output in the bulldog is 3.2k but for some reason I didn't get a mastery for it, in fact I only got a class 2 badge. I guess the influx of players grinding the bulldog for the mission has lowered the average by A LOT.

Got into the WoWS beta. And well... RIP tanks. Still logging in daily for the 50k and the 100y but probably taking a bit of a break.

Yeah I got into WoWS beta as well. Haven't played tanks in two days. That being said, I still think ultimately WoT is more enjoyable, but WoWS is a nice break.
