I am sitting with the humble bundle ship in my port. They EVENTUALLY made the correct call, but it took a shit loud of responses from players and eventually bad press to do it.

I'll play again when they give me the 1k tokens, 5 ship slots and the 7 days of premium from the rest of the bundle. As far as I'm concerned the ship is only given because of the bad press, not because they actually give a shit and intend owe up to mistakes and care about players.

It wasn't 1k AND 5 slots, it was 5 slots and then changed to 1k.

However, when you consider that I got a tier 5 premium ship for $1, that is still a hell of a deal any way you slice it.

Tier VII Japanese Carrier is pretty insane. 3x bombers and 3x Torpedo bombers. I was in my Tier VI American carrier. My 1 fighter group go overrun and then I died to the rest.

First time fighting against it. Didn't realize it could field so much. Need to tell the team they need to provide me with AA next time.

How the hell are people already at tier 7? Seriously, they just wiped everyone... I mean I have a tier 4 DD, and 2 tier 3 cruisers at this point (almost have a BB not counting the free one). One thing to remember is that Japanese CVs only seem to have 4 planes in their flight groups, while American ones have 6.

Anyway, I have been trying to figure out which carrier line I want to go down. It looks like Japan really does have the better ones (maybe not the best fighters, but torps bombers are so much better than dive bombers that it isn't even funny).

Probably because they've never seen boobs. :hmm:

CVs piss me off in T3-5 matches when none of the ships have any AA to amount to anything. Carriers are just picking off the ships one by one. Saw on the WoWS forum some dude already had the Shokaku last night.:\

I'm about to get my Tier VII American. However, it seems Japanese ones are actually better. Swarms of planes are better than more planes per group. Gives you options to just overwhelm defenses.

Yeah at higher tiers it is much more difficult to play CV's. Atlanta class ships shoot down a group of my torpedo bombers in seconds. At lower tiers you are right. Torpedo bombers are pretty much click and kill.

Open Beta is speculated to possibly open this weekend. But don't quote me on that. All the closed beta players were wiped last week and received their closed beta rewards. The thought is that we get a week or two at most to get a head start on getting through the low tier ship grind before opening it up to the world.

Well, now its nothing.

A deal doesn't change the fact that it's bait and switch from WG and they weren't originally going to give you shit until the news outlets picked it up. Wargaming basically didn't owe up to the mistake for some measly virtual items that amounts to less than $25 until they were forced to, and even then they only gave you half of what they originally promised. Oh, and they disabled all the codes despite there not being any expiration dates.

sorry but not sorry is not good enough for me. I hate to drag humble bundle into it but I won't support WG's behavior on principle, even if they gets none of the proceeds.

From what I have read on the forum the game is in limited open beta at the moment. They are letting a limited number of new accounts download and play. So really real open beta is on the horizon. I think. These guys puzzle me.

Anyway, game play is somewhat more involved now with camo (right at the very end of the account progress tier however) and the other stuff.

Meh whatever, stick it to the company over a buck. Tilt at those windmills.

Not going to sell out my principles over $1, thanks. I'd rather add my name to the pile that humble bundle can point to when they decide to never do business with wargaming again.

Let me put it this way, in WoT you can currently buy a tier 5 tank for ~10 bucks.
You can buy 1250 gold for $7.
You can buy 5 port slots (which were at 50% off at this time) for $150 each, or 750 gold.
1 week of premium is $7

And the intangible access into the CBT.

You are bitching about a company not honoring a ~$24 purchase (you either got the slots or the gold) for $1. What company is ever going to honor that? The intention which was mis-stated repeatedly by the employees is that this was going to be a CBT only sale. AFAIK, the humble bundle never stated if the goodies would transfer over, only employees stated they would. If that is the case, there is no false advertising on Humble Bundle's ad, and at worse is you have a group of people who assumed/understood incorrectly about the status of the goodies.

Instead, to appease the masses of people bitching about not getting something for 1/24 the cost, they gave out something for 1/10th the cost and STILL people bitch.

Personally, I wish they would refund the buck and say F you to trying to get the best deal wargaming HAS EVER DONE and you get your all mighty dollar back. Me, I will take my 90% off ship, thank you.

minor correction, it is actually a $0.00 purchase as it was done via humble and none would make it back to them regardless of how much you paid, even if you were one of the three digit donaters.

I don't know about you, but when the COMMUNITY MANAGER tells me I'm going to get something, I believe them over a reseller. Not to mention I never said I blame humble bundle for the disaster, did I? It's a pity wargaming dragged them into this mess but the fault is ENTIRELY on WG and humble bundle and charities got caught in the crossfire.

Instead, to appease the masses of people bitching about not getting something for 1/24 the cost, they gave out something for 1/10th the cost and STILL people bitch.

The cost is whatever you want to pay for the bundle. For you it may be 1/24 the cost, for other people who are not cheapskates thinking "omg $1 keys", they probably paid more. Last I checked the average price is almost $4 and there's a bunch of people who have paid way more than that on the top of the list. (some loon paid like $400?) Fuck those people too right? They're just so stupid for paying more than a buck for some keys.

Personally, I wish they would refund the buck and say F you to trying to get the best deal wargaming HAS EVER DONE and you get your all mighty dollar back. Me, I will take my 90% off ship, thank you.

Did you forget they only told people the fact that the items wouldn't carry over to OBT AFTER the wipe and people noticed stuff was missing? They also didn't tell people that the keys were NA only, and wouldn't work on EU accounts? Or that they had over 3 days worth of sales and didn't feel like they needed to compensate people ANYTHING until kotaku started running the story along with other blog sites? Each time when blogs started running with the story, then they issue an "amendment" to the wording on humble bundle. Really convenient of them to keep changing the terms of the sale eh?

I believe the industry term for that is "bait and switch". Of course, everyone says it's a mistake when they get caught and they're really sorry too.

The correct course of action that would make everyone happy is to just give people the virtual items they paid for when the terms of sales were approved instead of viewing each as a potential loss in sales. This isn't just about "getting cheep items omgz" like you are making it out to be, it's consumer rights. Apparently you can sell yours for $1, I personally will not.

But hey, to each their own. White knight for WG all you want, I guess they're really the victims here with all the imaginary items they're losing.

I think I've pretty much given up on trying to get my team to work together. I was, at the start of the game, suggesting that players "stick together" or "support each other" and I'd maybe ask if anyone had any plans, but people seemed to only care/respond maybe 25% of the time. Maybe 40% it would be stupid or mocking comments, and the rest silence. I mean it's a public game and I shouldn't expect competition-level coordination, but I don't think it should be too much to assume that people would want to work together in such a team-oriented game. And a lot of coordination isn't even required, it's more if people just stick by and support each other in general then the team stands a far better chance of surviving than if people just go off and do their own thing.

I suppose I'll just let the chips fall as they may, and at least stick with a group myself if nothing else. Oh, by the way, has anyone clicked the "Create Division" button at the top? How does that work, and what's all involved with this option?

division lets you queue games together with your friends so you guys can play together. If you ever see on the score screen where people have little plaques saying "1" or "2" next to them, they are buddies and queued up together.
