I tested WOWP as well, then I tried War Thunder for 5 minutes and never went back. But sadly yes it has already been shown that the old Alpha was much more complex than the current Beta.

War Thunder still has hysterical physics crap in their ground forces. Flipping tanks with ease. Their air game was pretty damn good until they screwed with the MM.

Still haven't gotten in.

Neither have I. Me thinks that invites may have been tied to how much you play or (especially) how much you pay. I will play when it goes public but may not pay to play as this wait has left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Oh well ...

All Wargaming games are arcadey. Anyways I havent received an invite neither. But also no surprise as my time In WoT goes in small spurts months apart.

I signed up about a week or week and a half ago but haven't heard anything yet (I ain't surprised).

I've been watching BaronVonGamez's videos and man the game looks freaking great. It looks like it has quite a steep learning curve though.

Nope. It was just a matter of first come first serve. If you applied earlier during the day on March 12th when Closed Beta applications were first announced, you would have had a good chance of being accepted. It certainly had nothing to do with WoT playtime, as I played less than a half dozen games of WoT.

It also has absolutely nothing to do with performance in WoT, as there are plenty of 45% Generals that became 45% Admirals in WoWS.

I have had to refine my favorite classes, and since getting to tier 6... my most fun is now in US Cruisers. From completely useless to completely dominating, the Cleveland is amazing.

Cool! I did want to try the beta. The bundles aren't that bad since you do get good stuff in it, not just "early access".

OMFG, that is awesome! I've been jonesin so hard for this game (it looks freaking awesome). I'm gonna pre-order the Gremyashchiy bundle and play this mofo tonight! WOOT

EDIT: So I pre-ordered the Gremyashchiy and got a confirmation email but I don't see where I would download the closed beta client yet. I won't be able to play for several hours but hopefully I can figure it out by tonight; otherwise Ann Arbor may have an apartment complex go up in flames.

EDIT2: Found out where to download it on the World of Warships website (http://worldofwarships.com/en/cbt/game_download/) so I'm doing that now. CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY (even though I'm most likely gonna get raped mercilessly).

Well clamum, I wish you luck. I am done with this game until organized play gets into it. This game is MUCH worse when pubbing than WoT. At least in WoT I can relocate, push enemy caps, retreat to save cap, etc etc.

This game is a bunch of arty and T95s on wide open maps, EVERY game.

Looks like they had a sale on this stuff over the weekend, but at the time beta access wasn't included. After prices went back to "normal", they added beta access and then also enabled it for prior purchases.

Guess a good deal if you got in on it.

I ended up playing for 2-3 hours last night and had a blast. I actually did a little better than I thought I would and didn't get completely destroyed. I ended with buying the first Japanese battleship and played a few games with it. Man that reload time, haha!

This is a fantastic game that rewards thinking ahead, planning and using the right tool for the job. Only thing I fear is them making changes to appease the masses before they learn how to play.
I agree with what ya said; thinking and planning ahead is huge in this game. It's very easy to get tunnel vision and get yourself into trouble quickly. I don't have anyone to play with but even so I didn't find pubbing to be too bad, at least so far. It certainly would be a lot of fun (and easier) to play with even one other person.

I haven't been this excited about a game since my high school days of Quake and Diablo II. :awe:

Oh, and here's my username if anyone wants to add me (I'm assuming there's a friend list or similar): clamum

War Thunder still has hysterical physics crap in their ground forces. Flipping tanks with ease. Their air game was pretty damn good until they screwed with the MM.

The only vehicles that I've seen flipping accidentally are the Marder II Tank Destroyers. Technically they are top heavy with a high center of gravity when you consider they carry a huge 76mm gun emplacement on top of a relatively small Panzer II chasis. That means you need to be careful of it's lean when on a hillside.

A better fix would be a higher terrain manipulation resolution and the ability for treads to actually travel "up" small vertical walls like you would expect to with a tank, like when you get stuck in a trench (which is your own fault).

So far though, I think their armor penetration and damage simulation is quite excellent for a video game though I think some of the accuracy on the developer side of things is unrealistic. Also the Battle Ratings system can really be a force to be reckoned with when you end up going against vehicles with much better armament and armor even though opponents shouldn't have anything 1.0 BR points above your highest rated vehicle.

Shermans are miracle workers, mid tier German vehicles are death traps considering what they get put up against.

My favorite part about Tanks Realistic Battles isn't the tanks but being able to deliver close air support with my Me 410 A-1! SPAAGs are immensely enjoyable too when there are aircraft to shoot down.

Someone has already released an aimbot mod for this game. It's being discussed on the worldofwarships forums.

Just a lead indicator, which people say was around in alpha but they chose to disable it.
As of now they're saying its ok to use, so it may return as a regular feature.

I'm wondering about my monthly spending. Not sure WoWS is worth the price of admission right now...and I have a crapload of xp to set free in WoT for some stuff...

Just a lead indicator which makes is completely over powered compared to guesswork especially at 20km. Wargaming can not understand that any mod that makes gameplay easier is an abuse. Either program this shit back in, or block all mods beyond skins.

In WoT, it is no different than the white dead tanks, the no foilage bushes, the last known enemy position (which they finally programmed in), hell Over Target Markers were not in the game for a long time.

Anything that helps you play, or gives more information is a bonus compared to vanilla players, which are then at a disadvantage. It becomes less about playing the game and more about finding the most abusive mods. And there were a few mods out there in WoT that were never published widely that were REALLY abusive (I am looking at you MM dodger).

It was one of my big reasons for quitting WoWS right now, wargamings obtuse thinking towards mods.
