Well,

I've seen hundreds of reviews and benchmarks and such with various cards, but none of them apply directly to me (and I'm sure many others). I'm looking at picking up a GF3 Ti200 card but I don't play any of the standard games that everyone uses as benchmarks. The only games I play are Online MMORPGs such as EverQuest and currently Dark Age of Camelot.

Does anyone have any info on how I can tell what performance increase I'd get on those types of games where everything is always changing, many people on the screen at once, etc? I currently have a original Radeon 32meg DDR LE card which lags and bogs down and such, but I found a good deal on a Ti200.

Does anyone use this card to play DAoC or other MMORPGs, or what kind of game used in benchmarking would be comparible? Any ideas?

Thanks,

I play DAoC and EQ both, and upgraded recently to a Ti200 from a TNT2 Ultra. I can't tell you 100% sure what kind of improvement you will get, but i can tell you what i have now. At the moment i run both games at 1600 * 1200 and i get almost no noticable slowdown in either game. Where it does become noticable is in DAoC in the cities, where you do get brief pauses running round a corner for example, as it tries to load the people/buildings. Nothing major though.

EQ is very smooth.

I think you would notice a difference if you upgraded, but again, its not 100%. Hope it helps.

I'm pretty much in agreement. The main slowdowns you will experience in DAoC are due to lag and latency.

I will note that with my ti500 I noticed some "wavy lines" in the display of DAoC. I am running pretty old drivers too - newest XP ones crash in XP.

Well, I currently use Win98, P-III 733, and the Radeon LE 32meg card. WHen I am (for example) near the forge in TnN, I have to look at the ground or else when I turn it's so choppy I end up spinning around in a circle from 1 press of the button. Since there's a good deal on the card at BB, I'll probably pick one up and just try it and see what happens.
Thanks.

Can anyone recommed a decent detanator version that wont crash DAoC on quit? I used the 21.83's for a while and they solved the problem, but then Tribes 2 and Wolfenstien wouldnt work properly....
