MMS through iPhone

Well not exactly they way you are used to, but it is possible with a little extra work.

I posted this in another thread, but I think it deserves its own.

In your contacts add another email address for people u want to send a mms. The second email is their phone number@ then use the below address depending on their carrier. Doesn't count as a sent text and if they reply to your text it will be sent to your email and the reply will not charge either. I tried it with a person with a Verizon account and it worked. U can also modify the contact tag to read mms mobile for the email.

This is for mms texts only. Although if you send a regular text to these addresses they will receive them, but might be charged if they don't have a mms package.

And just for the record, what happens when they reply to your mms text, and adds a pic?

If they reply with an MMS message, then you get a text saying that someone sent you an MMS message and to go to www.viewmymessage.com (or whatever that slow site is) and view the message there. It's a huge pain.

Is MMS really that popular? Everyone I know just e-mails each other.

Most of my relatives use MMS, so it comes in handy for the latest baby pic. I email everyone else.

I second this motion. You already have unlimited data, why would you want to pay out the wazoo for MMS when SMS already costs too much?

If they reply to your mms, then it will be sent to your email address. If they send a new mms to your phone then you will get a text message saying to view it on the website. So if you tell people to send mms to your email address then you will receive it in your email.

I don't know about AT&T and thusly iPhone, but for T-Mobile they come together. I get 1,000 of each for $9.99.

I generally find MMS is easier for sending a quick picture than email. I don't do it all that often, but a few a month. Enough that it would annoy me if it were missing.
