Which of the 5 Super Bowl victories are you referring to?

Only the most recent ... the 1970's (especially 1979) Steelers were one of the best teams of all time, as opposed to the 2006 team who most likely would have lost in a fairly officiated game.
The 2006 SB came very close to ruining NFL football for me.


By the way I also strongly dislike the Seahawks & am a NY Giants fan.

The refs did not decide that game. You do realize it was reviewed and no glaringly bad calls were found. How would they have lost? Parkers long run, Randle's TD throw, and Ben's scoring run were more than enough. The pick by Taylor stopped the Hawks from making it a close game when it mattered. The Hawks choked on defense and 3rd down, they barely converted 30%.

Oh please ... just save it.

That game was a travesty & the only people who I've ever heard defend it are Steeler fans or work for the NFL.

Exactly, when the league reviewed the officials' performance they concluded it was officiated properly. That includes the disputed calls that went against Pitt, of course you forget about those entirely. Ignore the plays Pitt made to win the game and blame it on a figment of your imgaination born from poor perception and hatred for the team that won.

Aw, didn't want Pitt to win, no wonder your opinion is so out of touch with reality in regards to that SB. Piss off....

Wrong ... I wanted to see the first game to go 4 full quarters without any scoring since 1949 (?) ... once I saw that bit of history made I didn't really care who won tonight.



And as to the 2006 SB, to clarify, I would MUCH rather have seen Pittsburgh win that game outright in a way that nobody could question ... football has been right there with baseball as my favorite sport for 28+ years & the last thing I wanted to have happen was to feel the championship game wasn't a fair contest, however thats how the 2006 SB left me feeling regardless of the findings of the league. (who appeared more interested in damage-control then anything else after the dust settled)

The bottom line is that I'm far from alone in feeling this way & nothing you can say is going to change that ... the only positive spin I can put on the 2006 SB is that since that time there has been a great deal of progress towards making sure nothing like it ever happens again.

I agree the officiating was poor that postseason, if you recall the refs took a pick away from Troy in the game against Indy that almost cost Pitt the game. They also took a fumble away from Pitt, after initially calling it correctly, and gave the ball back to Seattle who went on to score their only touchdown. There were problems in other playoffs games that season. The officials were under tremendous scrutiny going into that SB, and that played a part in a lot of people's perception. What progress has been made to make sure that travesty as you call it never happens again?

I can give you links from national sportswriters and ESPN commenttors that felt the game was called properly. It will not change your opinion, that is your problem. You will still forget that plays Pitt made to win that game, and forget the mistakes, dropped balls, etc the Hawks made that cost them a chance to win. There was maybe 1-2 calls out of the 6 in question that could have gone the other way, and they still would not have affected the outcome of the game. The better team won in a fair contest, deal with it and move on already.

Hardly changes the facts. I am sure the Dallas sportswriter who wrote in his column the week after the SB he felt it was officiated properly was a Pitt fan. Interestingly after the game Hawks players interviewed in the locker room made no mention of the refs, instead they focused on their own mistakes, dropped balls, and missed chances.

Nope ... I'm a Giants & to a lesser degree Patriots fan ... if anything I dislike the Seahawks more then the Steelers since they're in the NFC.

We could talk about two weeks from now in Foxboro instead if you prefer? That should be an interesting game.
