I go to Vegas at least 7-8 times a year. I have stayed at every major on the strip and my favorite place is the Venetian. The rooms are big and nice and the staff treats you great. There is nothing wrong with the Bellagio, but the rooms are not as nice or as large as the Venetian. I like the Wynn as well, but there is something I like a little bit better about the Venetian. If you are going with your girl for an anniversary, The Bellagio will be nice, but the Venetian will be better. You can take her on a gondola ride complete with a singing gondelier.

As far as shows go, I have seen all the Cirque De Soleil/and Cirque like shows and my favorite is La Reve at The Wynn, next I would say is O, followed by Love, KA, Mystere, and then Zumanity.

MB is pretty far down the strip IMHO

And cab rides are a few minutes wait. It doesn't matter where you are on "the strip", you can go anywhere you want for 10-15 bucks.

$10-$15/bucks 3 or 4 times a day adds up...may as well spend that money on a hotel that is more centrally located. waits for cabs at times can also get quite unreasonable

isn't the tram free?

Spent 3-nights there in May.

Over-rated!

Then again I don't get the appeal of Vegas. Everything is extremely overpriced, service is usally lacking, and the white-trash attempting to feel important is laughable.

Bathrooms were really nice, I'll give the Bellagio that. The louge singers were on point but paying $8 for a Heineken is a bit much.

Mesa at Cesars was very good but overpriced at $30+ a plate. However Mesa seemed like a bargain after eating at Bouchon in the Venetian.

Bellagio buffet was awesome and definitely better than Bouchon. So many wonderful foods including those tasty king crab legs & bison roast.

when you are staying at a $250+/night hotel, a $10 cab ride is nothing.
I agree, it doesn't really matter where you live on the strip.
And The Hotel is very nice and modern, matter of fact I liked it even more than the luxurious Bellagio and Venetian.

well, all the extra space is wasted since you are only going with your S/O. The "Comparative Advantage" is lost to Bellagio.

I've stayed at quite a few hotels in Vegas and I'd have to say that my top 3 are:

1. Wynn
2. Bellagio
3. Venetian

It really depends on how much time you're going to spend in the room itself. I mean, it's Vegas - what the hell are you doing staying if your room unless you're sleeping or bumpin' nasties!?

The last time I was there, I stayed at the Flamingo. No, it's not as posh as any of my top 3 (though the GO rooms aren't too shabby)...but the price was decent and I had more money to play with!

Other notes:

- No, the tram isn't free. During the peak months it's $13 for a day pass and off-peak it's $9 I believe. The tram also doesn't make stops everywhere...I think there's 7 stops?
- Go see LOVE if you can...it's an amazing show!
- Go eat at the Wynn buffet once while you're there. It's a little pricey, but it's damn good food!

There's alot of sofa to frolic on

But yeah, I checked out prices again last night, and with Venetian's current special, it's pretty goddamn cheap: 180wk night + 210 wk end, for a room that seems waaaaaaay bigger than Bellagio.

And with KT's rec, I can stop by Bouchon, often.

This is going to be a 4-5 night trip.

FYI: KA was good, but it was all about the stage and the props. Not a ton in the way of acrobatics or human feats.

I haven't seen them but from what I've read Mystere or O have more acrobatics.

I got drunk and spent $200 at Valentino too...it was really good but I can't really say it's a reliable review considering I was drunk.

Just in case you get a craving for Mexican food...

Treasure Island has a Mexican restaurant named Isla. They have the best Mexican food & margaritas in the entire world, I kid you not.

Margaritas, maybe. Mexican food? NO WAI!

Unless they got an al pastor on a spit with a pineapple on top and little tacos with cilantro and onion with ridiculously bomb salsa roja...

I was just in Vegas over the weekend and stayed at Treasure Island (TI). I loved the location of it (across the street from Venetian/Wynn/Plazzo, next to the fashion show mall and Ceasar palace) and it was nice and at a decent price.

There is free tram between the Mandalay Bay and the Excaliber.
There is free tram between the Treasure Island and the Mirage.

There is the Monorail ($5 ride /$9 day) that runs on the backside of the strip (MGM/Paris/Caesars/Harrahs/Convention/Hilton/Sahara) Monorail map

I haven't seen KA, but I've heard that it is a little lackluster compared to the others.

Have you seen Mystere, O, LOVE?

haven't seen any cirque show

I actually heard Ka was the best, go figure.

Seriously? Usually Ka is listed as the worst. Go figure.

I've seen all of the Vegas Cirque shows except for Ka, and while they are all great, Love is by far my favorite.

Thanks, must've been awhile since I read. This thing is still in planning stages; I just know I want to go to a Cirque show, doesn't really matter which one.

Don't do Mystere, too little kiddy.

KT

Here's how I would rank the ones I've seen:
Love (10+/10)
Mystere (9.5/10)
O (9/10)
Zumanity (7/10)

Well I guess I'll rank too:

O (10/10) - Stage moves up and down, so pools are constantly forming. Everything is amazing, the acrobatics, the mood, everything.
Mystere (9/10) - Pure acrobatics for the most part. Tons to look at, great music.
LOVE (8.5/10) - First one I saw. I was more impressed by O and Mystere, but maybe that's cause I knew what was coming. Slightly less acrobatics than both, but the mood this show has is just amazing. Great music, obviously, assuming you like the Beatles.
KA - Heard it was mostly story. Not really a "Cirque" show (in comparison to others at LV), if that's the experience you want.
