I found a bunch of great coupons for my Vegas trip at www.smartervegas.com

Also, the Rio Seafood Buffet was epic. We took in that and Penn and Teller one night and had a great time!

Also, I had to admit, I had more fun downtown one night catching the Fremont St. Lightshow (Queen Retrospective) and hanging out at Binions. The magnum daqueries are cheaper there, and it was just more laid back and cozy.

having stayed at the bellagio before .. . . I must say i prefer the venetian or Mandalay Bay. you can always walk over to the Bellagio if you wanna see the water show. Venetian rooms are generally cheaper and bigger. . .That being said . . . the hallways are quieter at the Bellagio . . .I've run into large parties/groups on multiple occasions at the Venetian and they seem to congregate in the hallways and can be rather loud. its vegas though so I guess it comes with the territory but Bellagio's clientele may be more sophisticated/richer and less likely to be screaming and laughing in the hallways.

A little off topic but used priceline to get 3 nights at Mandalay bay for like $165 each night.

Oh, story?

I've never been but would probably try it out.

I tried the tip trick last time I was at the Mirage. The lady behind the counter gladly took my money, said she'd "see what she could do", made a few phone calls, gave us a key and said enjoy the room. I was super excited to see what awesome room I had scored... I turned out to be a smoking room that had a view out the back to the parking lot. I dont smoke, nor my GF, so I called from the room and asked to be changed to a non smoking, they gladly put us into a non smoking that over looked the pool.
After an hour I decided that I'd try to get us upgraded one last time; I called the front desk and said I knew they had some newly remodeled rooms on the top floor that I would like to stay in, they upgraded us for free and the room was amazing (plasma tv, whirlpool tub, 1 month old renovation) and had a full view of the strip.
I'm still not quite sure how I got into the upgrade for free, maybe they realized their error... who knows, either way it worked out in the end after a few tries.

Moral of the story: tip and tell them exactly what you want.

Yeah my story was similar, except without that 2nd call with upgrade. I mean, it wasn't a bad room like that, but it wasn't some gangster view overlooking the strip and shit. This was @Luxor btw.

I have stayed at Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, The Hotel at Mandalay Bay, The Venetian and many others on the stip. By far my favorite hotel in terms of room quality were the rooms at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. It is an all suites hotel that is very modern and contemporary. For the price of a normal hotel room at Bellagio, I got a suite at The Hotel with two bedrooms and a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi tub.

I thought Bellagio was nice but I think the Venetian (I stayed in the Venezia tower) is nicer and The Hotel won out over the end because I like the contemporary styling and space over the european themes.

thanks for the note. I didn't even look at the hotel, but I'll check it out since all you guys keep talking about it.

THE Hotel
V Suite: WINTER WONDERS
$1,129.95
Decorated in a sophisticated palette of black, brown, and cream, our THE V Suites exude a modern contemporary feel. With luxurious features like pillow top mattresses, down comforters and enticing views from the floor-to-ceiling windows, this suite is the perfect place to begin and end each fruitful day

THE Suite: WINTER WONDERS
$989.95
At 725 square feet THEhotel suites are upscale and contemporary. The entry is cool, clean tile. Concoct something at the wet bar, and then settle down in front of the 42" plasma TV. The elegantly-appointed bathroom features marble and granite, and a separate tub and shower. To help you conduct your business, there are high-speed internet connections in every room

About on par with Venetian + Bellagio, but much bigger than bellagio.

Would appear that there's a 200$ discount @Checkout, I'll have to confirm that with the hotel. If that's true then shit, might stay there instead.

wowzers

Ah, the rooms: Every one is a genuine suite (not just separated living room and bedroom, but even a wet bar and second water closet), done in more black, tans, and gleaming woods, like your professionally decorated Manhattan dream apartment. There are plasma-screen TVs in every room, including the enormous marble bathroom, where the tub is so deep, the water comes up to your chin when you sit down. Bathroom amenities are posh, the comforters are down, and the sheets -- well, remember our complaints about how you just can't get good sheets in big hotels? Feel the soft heft of these. That's what we want. Two complaints might be the excess of mirrors (the wall-length double closet and TV cabinet are covered in them, as is another wall) and the overall lack of good lighting. But seriously, you won't care. For once, a hotel room in Vegas designed to make you want to stay put. Not that you have to; as stated, all the amenities of Mandalay Bay (their incredible pool area, a number of terrific restaurants) are just down a long hall, though the instant you step from this grown-up world into the world of, well, noisy grown-up pursuits, which isn't the same thing at all, you might well want to turn right back around.

I've never stayed at Mandalay Bay, but it is one of my favorite Vegas hotels. IMO, they have the best selection of restaurants, clubs, etc. I've heard the rooms are really nice, too.

The only strike against them (and for me this is kind of huge) is that they are at one extreme end of the strip. Bellagio is much more centrally located.

I find the views at the Venetian aren't that great no matter where you get them, so if theres a price difference you may want the non-luxury view. In my experience you're either looking at the pool/fountain area that the hotel surrounds or you are looking at the back of Harrah's. I prefer the pool view, dont remember if thats the upgrade. Still a great room/hotel...

I'm going to be going to Vegas in a few months, I rarely go and when I do I stay off the strip. What I'm looking for is a resonably priced room, doesn't have to be a suit, but I would like a nice Spa tub big enough for 2. What would be my best bet here? The Bellagio sounds wonderful but also very expensive. I will be gambling > soaking in tub with my lady > sleeping so I don't need anything "OMG!" I do like nice 'cuzzi tubs though

I have stayed at both the Venetian and the Hotel at Mandalay Bay. As others have said both are very nice and your preferance in styling may determine one over the other, but the Venetian is more centrally located and with the gondola and some other things a little more romantic than the Hotel IMO.

As far as food goes, it is hard to get a bad meal in Vegas unless you try. It really depends on what type of food you like i.e. Italian, French, etc)

From a former resident, the Rio is around $80 if you time it right and all their rooms are suites. It is off the strip, but not too far.

When I gambled there I used to play at the Orleans, which is close to the Rio, hardly ever lost. It's also nice because there are very high ceilings so its not so damned smokey, unless you smoke, then you probably don't care.

P.S. The hottest waitress EVER used to work there, and no I don't have any pics of her. (I know you have a gf, but it's a good mental image for later, lol.)

I stayed at the Bellagio and saw Ka back in August. ABSOLUTELY recommend both.
