As I said before I agree with his view about nvidia, my issue is with his inaccuracy in presenting the points which support the argument both he and I agree on.

Yet he insists on making it into me "taking nvidia's side" and acts outraged that anyone would.

Yes, ONE of those inaccuracies was me misreading, I apologized. The rest weren't due to any misreading though.

I think you need to follow the conversation and see where he lost his cool. Of all the valid points he made a pro-NV poster basically refuted his claim because he didn't identify "feature set" properly.

His comment was more towards him than anyone else.

EDIT: Just re-reading the conversation again, I can point where he even referenced that someone else already listed the different API features. So it is now getting to a point to where you both acknowledge the differences, but you are eaching waiting to hear each other say it. Haha.

Back to consumers getting screwed! I hope this is a temporary thing, ie once Kepler is out in full force the rebadges go the way of the dodo.

While I don't buy laptops for myself, my family is always "dude which laptop should I buy" and last thing I need to do is keep a spreedsheet on which is Kep and which is Ferm.

I find that unlikely. nVidia has been rebadging for many years, getting worse with it every year.
AMD is taking a page from their book and doing more rebadging nowadays too.

At least in the past the rebadging stayed in the cheap end. So I could say "yeah, it's an older chip so it doesn't really matter."

Now it seems like the rebadging is getting mixed up with the newer stuff. So it's like "wait what model number...oh wait no that was last year's hardware, how much!? No get the XXX, it's this year's model...yes I get that the number is different...no, just nevermind get whatever you want!"

well, according to some of the info in this thread some GPUs have identical model number but different hardware. In this case here you need to check the SP count to know which of the two identically named GPUs you want... So yea, there is that.
