Mobo audio

I'm currently running Win 7 and the beta drivers for my X-Fi have forced me to switch to the onboard HD audio. It seems that I can either use the green plug for my pc speakers or the digital optical out to my home stereo but I can't do both at the same time. My old audio card could do both simultaneously so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or is this a limitation of onboard audio. Thanks.

It's more of a win 7 thing no? Same with vista.

My old SB Live card would only work with one output at a time. It's probably a limitation of the hardware. Have you tried the manufacturers website for more info?

no he means he has to manually switch between digital and analogue. Back in XP days, it will switch automatically. At least I think that is what he means.

Yeah, I have to pull up the volume panel and set the default to either analog or digital. Weird thing is that if I'm in digital mode and I do the tone test for the speakers, it comes out the pc speakers not my home stereo. This makes me think there is some setting I'm missing since the system can obviously do both. I emailed Gigabyte about the question and am waiting for a reply.
