I have an older Shuttle box with an FS-51v2 mobo. According to Shuttles' spec page on this box, it supports up to 3.06Ghz/533/512 socket 478 P4 Northwood cpus. In looking up the specs on Intel's processor finder page, I see that there is also a Mobile Pentium 4 cpu with the same specs available, but with a 1.3 VID voltage range instead of the normal p4's 1.55 VID voltage range. Since it is listed as a .13 micron, I assume it is also a Northwood core. My question is:
Would the mobile P4 processor also work in the Shuttle box? The reason I'm asking is that I assume the mobile P4 would be more stable in a small box like the Shuttle since it is designed to work in a hotter environment (ie a laptop) but I don't want to try it myself if the mobo and mobile chip wouldn't be compatible (it is my kids' box and as far as I know the maximum upgrade available).
If anyone has had experience with P4 mobile chips in P4 desktops, please respond with relevant input.
Thanks!
