Mobo - CPU recommend for software development

Hello All.

Doing a new build, and it has been a while. Will be reviewing stickies and what not on the subject. Have not really followed the market of late (been using macs a lot), so a bit out of tune with latest pc hardware.

So, I could use some recommendations on Mobo and CPU. Some things to consider are:
- I prefer Intel CPU
- Box will be used for software development (mostly java stuff)
- Will be running dual monitors
- Linux and Windows 8.1
- Do not need overclocking
- Stable and fast
- Should give me at least 2 years
- Will be going all SSD drives
- 32GB or Ram
- full size mobo (no micro)
- Cost not an issue (needs to be money well spent though)
- Dont care about brands, but last one was MSI and it was fine

All I can think of for now. I'm in Canada. Will likely be purchasing from newegg so links to recommendations appreciated.

Lots RAM is not an amount of RAM. So, up to 32GB, or over 32GB?

most dev machines are 32GB these days. 64 is too expensive for what you get; although honestly if you COULD get it it would just extend longevity even more. I would if my board had 8 slots.

Actually I had specified that cost is not an issue. As I don't really need anything extreme, lets just say under $1000 for mobo and cpu.

Any recommendations then?

If you need that much RAM, i'd definitely look into the X99 chipset with a i7 5820K processor. Just move onto DDR4 and get a 32GB 4X8GB kit. You will be able to upgrade to 64GB later on if needed and X99 is here for a while, there will be a refresh to allow you to upgrade the CPU later on as well.

being able to upgrade to 64GB is a good point. I doubt we'll see 16GB sticks of DDR3 for affordable prices.

Otherwise I went with SSD and 32GB RAM and AMD CPU. very happy with it. I sold all my old AMD parts for the price of all my new parts. Intel couldn't compete at the low-end pricepoint.
