Hello,

'd like to get a new mobo for my Q6600. I'll overclock it to 3.3GHz-3.6GHz (366-400 FSB). My RAM sticks aren't real quality but they will do 1100MHz at 5-5-5-15. Would I be better off with a P965 or P35 ? I also have a few questions which the sticky doesn't answer.

- Are P35-DS4's revisions really so different from each other? I got a good deal for a Rev.1 motherboard; but saw that the pipes in it were huge. What kind of a cooler would fit there? Would the Zalman 9700 fit ? What are the other differences between the revisions ?
- Is DFI Lanparty P35-UT really worth the extra cost, in terms of overclocking ?
- What are a good P35 board's advantages are over the ASUS COMMANDO, which I'm looking for (as an established and rather non-problematic motherboard).

I would be glad for any recommendations.

Q6600 at 3.6GHz is no problem with GA-P35-DS4. Perhaps you can get the same result with COMMANDO.

DS4 rev. 1.0 has a larger NB heatsink. Compatible heatsinks I confirmed are: Zalman 9700, Scythe Ninja Plus, Thermaltake Ultra-120 Extreme. Another major difference is back panel. Rev. 1.0 has parallel and serial port while rev. 2.0 ditches them out (internal headers only) and has 8 USB and 2 IEEE 1394 ports instead.

DFI Lanparty P35-UT: I don't know. DS4 is enough for overclocking Q6600 for me.

P35 supports FSB 1333 processors (65nm or 45 nm) natively and hence works better with these chips than P965 (in general). But with Q6600 (FSB 1066), there is not much difference.

Thanks renethx, you've been helpful. Looks like either COMMANDO or P35-DS4 would do the trick for me, but still I would be better off with the DS4 due to its 45nm support.

Cool i just ordered new parts for my new setup got a Gigabyte P35 DS4 rev.2 , heard lots of good things about it. Really good stable overclocking abilities. I heard it can overclock a Q6600 to 3.0GHz without breaking a sweat lol I will be using a Q6600 G0 so hopefully ill get it up to 3.5GHz. Never overclocked before but read lots of threads. Just need a good heatsink that will allow me to achieve high overclocks anyone suggest a good heatsink. Read lots good things about the Thermaltake Ultra-120 Extreme. How about the CoolerMaster Gemini II. thanks

My Asus Maximus Formula rocks especially for overclocking and Xfire! It's an X38 chipset with 2 PCIe 2.0 slots. My Q6600 is at 3.6GHz rock solid!
