I have (had) both cameras I dumped the QV3000EX A.S.A.P. ! Cancell your order. BTW u did state you brought the DC4800EZ from Sams in the last thread ?????
PROS for the QV3000EX The BIG plus over the DC4800 one word " Microdrive". You can also do mpegs but with NO SOUND.
CONS for the QV3000EX
IN SHORT THE WORST CONS -No threads for filters -No distance displayed to the object on which the camera tries to focus (BIG prblem) -No zoom index displayed -No ability to manually create folders (why???) -No ability to delete just captured picture right away, have to switch to Play mode - WHAT A PITA THIS WAS -No AC adaptor in the box, which is a must to have.- No way to attach an external flash.- No uncompressed TIFF format- NO adapter for other lenses such as wide, zoom and close up lenses.
1. AC adaptor not supplied, but a multi-voltage AC adaptor can be bought for much less than the cost of Casio's adaptor. This is important especially if you need to load tons of pictures to PC. BTW USB cord is way to short. If your port is located in rear of PC get ready to be turn it around each time.
2. Battery charger and NiMh batteries not supplied. Very much needed if you plan on buying a Microdrive. Takes about 6-10 seconds to boot up. Battery door is very flimsy and seems delicate .Should have had hole in the door cover for battery pack use. The battery life is disappointingly short ,1/2 that of the DC4800 using cams with mfg supplied batteries.Batteries hang up in camera when changing. ( What a pita that was !)
3. The 8Mb CompactFlash supplied is too small -- takes a mere 9 shots in fine mode. Recommend getting a new C/F right away.
4. Viewfinder does not accurately show actual image captured by the camera.
5. It?s very difficult to view the LCD at different angle unlike most Dig-Cams.
6. Poor image quality at very low light sensitivity. DC4800 had same problem Kodak corrected with new firmware, still not 100 %. But like day and night comparing the two cams.
7. No way to attach an external flash(no shoe or port).
8. Plastic (which can be cross threaded easily) tripod mount is off-centred and this caused the camera to be less stable when mounted on tripod.
9. Saturation is on the low side which must be compensated by setting the saturation level to high.
10. Sometimes the CompactFlash compartment cover is not easy to open or close.
11. Software problems.Photoloader does not have a way to delete single photo from a image library and not mess up the HTML indexes. It can only delete a whole library. I suppose they assume user can delete individual image from on the camera first.DO NOT UPGRADE TO IE 5.5 OR THE USB CONNECTION WILL NOT WORK.TIFF can not be read by any program. (they are still working on a fix for this)
12.Body the shutter and mode switches too close together causing errors. Plastic case.Camera should have crinkle finish to reduce slipperyness. The cheap 'leatherette' case Casio supply manages to transform an already reasonably sized camera into a brick!
13. Customer support is useless. All they can do is read to you the instruction manual.
