The Seattle Fry's Electronics add is in the Sports section of the Sunday, August 24th issue of the Seattle Times

Too bad they didn't bother including any of the specials.

Sports section = TV sales?

Waited till 6:30 and it was still closed, asked the people who worked there when they were gonna let us in, they said soon. I got bored and left, so yeah, friday's the day.

We showed up at about 7:15 and the doors were open. There were actually a fair number of people there - LIttle less than Best Buy on an average day. Sounds like they expect it to be a TOTAL zoo on Friday. Two hour wait to pay, people lining up at 4 AM, etc. The works. His advice? If you want it, buy it now then come back later to pricematch.

Has anyone see a Fry's ad that details what will be on sale on Friday? Page D12 in Thursday's Seattle Times is a full page add for the opening, but not many details.

Just as curiosity, have you guys tried entering "Fry's renton" in google? Look at the links that come out of it.

From Athlium @ FW:

There were scans with these listed (I'm told), but the mods shut down the thread on FW.

I just got back from the grand opening. I waited two hours to get into the store, and when I got inside there was at least a two hour wait to pay for merchandise. I walked around for 15 minutes (was the only one in the IC/prototyping section) and left. Some good deals...
PS2 console for $149.99
27" Sylvania TV for $129.99
Panasonic Progressive Scan DVD player $59.99 (after $20 MIR)
XBOX bundle for $179.99 (console, Spiderman, SSX Tricky, MGS2, 3rd party controller)

Maybe I'll go back in a few months, when it's less crowded.

took us 90min to get in, but checkout only took about 15min. they've got some good deals - the 27" TV for $129 was flying off the shelves, and the $50 120GB WD HDD seemed very popular.

I was there around noon and the line to get in was completly around one side of the building, probably 500-700 feet long. They were only letting people in when people went out. We heard reports that the lineup to the chashier was very long as well.

No way was I waiting in that to save a few bucks that I could most likely find elswhere online with no line ups.

Does anyone know if the corsair memory is being sold at the Wilsonville Fry's for the same price? Does Staples, OfficeMax, or CompUSA sell Corsair?

I see a possible price match and no lines to wait in.

Well, I got there on Friday at 10:30 am. The local Fire Marshall was monitoring how many people were in the store, and made the employees meter the customers in and out. It took about 45 minutes to get in the door, but I spent it talking to a good looking girl in the line. Inside, I found a little line to pick up the combo mobo/CPU deal. They still had everything I wanted in stock. I spent about $385 for the following (prices after rebate): barebones (ECS K7S5A + Athlon XP 1800+ Thoroughbred + 350 watt case) $60; WD 120GB/8MB Ultra100 HD $50; BestData GeForce2 MX400 64MB $18; CoolerMaster CP5-8J71F squirrel cage HSF $FAR; set of clear round cables (2 IDE + floppy) $FAR; Teach Yourself Office XP $FAR. It took about an hour to look at everything I wanted, navigate through the store and crowd, and get the stuff, and about another 45 minutes to go through the line to get to checkout. So, it was not a quick in-and-out, more like a day at the beach. I do have to say that they have an amazing selection of component-level products. And their cappuchino was just great.

Got in today, spent over $600. 25 inch stereo sharp tv $99. 4, Gameboy advanced sp $79 with game and a bunch of other stuff. Lots with rebates....

I would swear that if you stopped anywhere in the store you could count at least 75 carts with the $99 tv in them. They had 6 people working a loading bay that would put a tv into the cart as a customer pulled up. one after another all day.

I had spent a couple hundred over there on Friday, with their one-day specials. Then, Saturday night at 7, I stopped to got a Starbucks and saw the double-page ad on a table. I thought, "Wow! That's left over from yesterday, Friday." But it said "One Day Specials" and said "Saturday". It took me a minute, then I realized that had a second One Day Sale on Saturday. I went over and bought more shite (doncha know...). And I guessed right -- one of the supervisors confirmed that they have a One Day Sale on Sunday and another on Monday. Must be like opening weekend for a summer blockbuster (lol....)! So (sigh), maybe I'll be checking them out tomorrow as well as Monday!

People in line on Friday had the same thought. Of course they'd milk their grand opening for all it's worth. I guess I'll be checking the newspaper tomorrow morning.

Yep, I was there Friday and yesterday as well. This time I got the 200GB WD HD 7200RPM 8MB for $99 AR. Nice deal, although not as nice as the 120GB for $50 on Friday (which I also got one).

And yes, I saw a lady with a copy of the supposedly Sunday specials. Sure enough the specials are in today's paper. Nothing I'm interested in though.

I'll check tomorrow's paper as well, just in case.

Thanks Fry's!

Just walked down to get a paper. I think I really wanted to see some amazing deal that would have had me drive down to Fry's. So far I haven't seen anything really. There are a couple "On Sale" items that I'd be mildly interested in getting a price on, but not a whole lot else. (Or at least in my price range)

Refurb Epson Perfection 1250U Scanner for $29.99 doesn't seem all that bad

Epson Stylus C82 Inkjet $39 AR (-40IR-20MIR)

Epson Sylus CX3200 $79 AR (-20IR-30MIR)

CyberPower 325VA UPS $9.99 AR (-10 MIR)

Panasonic 2.4 Gigarange Multi Handset Cordless Phone and Answering System $49.99

Panasonic 900MHz Cordless Phone (KX-TC1484B) $14.99

Brother plain paper fax/phone/copier $19.99AR (-40IR-10MIR)

LCD and VHS in a bag $99

Samsung Progressive Scan DVD/CD player $59.99

Free after rebate:
SIIG 2-to-1 USB auto switch
Conext Surge Protectora
Iogear USB 2.0 PCI Upgrade Card
CD Stomper Pro CD Labeling System
Best Data 56k V.92 PCI Internal Fax Modem

On Sale Now items of interest (to me)

Sony Mini DV Digital Camcorder

27" WEGA KV-27FS100

K, imagine I missed a few here and there, but that's at least a good smattering.

And where would you get this very confidential not for public information? (About Fry's sales figures)
They are a closely held and very private operation ... as such ... no reports to SEC etc etc ...

LaHockey, no one knows what you're replying to. Edit your post, and folks can understand and answer. Hope that helps. Me? It's Monday morning and I'm off for a Starbucks and a paper!

I haven't seen any Grand Opening ads in the Times either. (By the way, this location in Renton is on the south coast of Lake Washington. It seems like everything new has to go in down in Renton/Tukwila first before they build in Seattle or the north end. Property is just too pricey in Bellevue-Woodinville-Issaquah (except for the first Krispy Kreme in the area).
