Modding a 360

Has it been done yet? Finally bit the bullet and bought a used 360. Now I'm thinking of modding it, and got the LiteOn drive. I want to keep it though because it is very, very quiet. Much quieter than my buddies 360s which sound like blow dryers. Haven't found any reliable info yet. Looking for a firmware flash type mod.

I just modded my MS25 in like 5 mins flat the other day

It seems as though the lite on drives will require you dumping the actual key for the drive (piece of the drive that allows the xbox to use that drive) and mod it into another drive such as the BenQ or something of that sort.

So either way you will be purchasing and using a different drive

Also from what I understand is that you will need to do some soldering, so you may need to know soldering skills.

I would do that right away.. I'm loving these 360's that are from early '06. MS25 samsung drives are really easy to mod, didn't even have to buy an extra VIA sata controller card.

All models since midway through the year are gonna have Lite On drives, so exchanging it won't net you a different drive model.

I guess I don't understand how it's going to be modable when the lite on drive doesn't even have writable firmware. It only has readable firmware.

For another used one, my build date was Septmeber '07 and so was the other one. Both HDMI, this one just looked very barely used, thats why I got it. Other one was a little dirty. But they have tons of used 360s at gamestop.
