Hello all,
I installed a Cendyne 24X CD/RW with Nero 5.5 on my computer (a Presario 5070). The CDRW was configured as Master on the secondary IDE connector. I did not need to install any special drivers as Windows 98 auto detected and installed the requisite s/w for it. However, there was an IRQ conflict with the COM2 port on which the Modem was installed. I manually corrected this but windows still said the modem connection could not be made. I downloaded the latest modem drivers from the Compaq website and this time, Windows diagonized that the Modem was working properly.
But when I try to connecto the internet or more specifically, when I open the ISP application (netzero in this case) I get a message that says - 'Modem cannot detect dialtone or line is busy'.
If I retry, I get an error message 'Port Already Open'.
When I try to diagonize/test the Port connection thru Device Manager, it says 'This device is working properly'. However, my modem never gets to dial the number and keeps giving this message. I am not sure if the CD/RW has anything to do with it - however, this problem cropped up after installing the CD/RW.
Also, my floppy drive is not being recognized any more.
I would really appreciate any help in this regard. Thanks.
