PLEASE HELP!
I have just recently built the computer listed below.
Here's the problem...I installed a new PCI modem (Intel chipset) onto my Epox motherboard. Everything appears to setup correctly. I log onto BellSouth using my modem, it verifies my user name and password, and then connects!
Here's the kicker... ANY program that tries to access that internet connection will then crash. Not with a BSOD, but with an internal error message (with a yellow exclamation point) caused by <unknown>. Any program includes IE 6.0, Netscape, Windows Media Player, Outlook, etc.
So, it logs onto my ISP fine, but it crashes if anything tries to use that connection. Wierd huh?
Now, I think that I have something incorrectly setup in my BIOS that causes a conflict or something. It's NOT an IRQ problem since my modem installs fine and there are NO IRQ conflicts.
The modem works fine. Windows is not corrupt. The registry is fine. I just reinstalled Win ME and still have the same problem. All drivers are up to date. My BIOS settings have PnP Disabled. I have set my INT 1-4 to IRQs as described in the link below.
Will someone PLEASE give me some help? Is there aconflict that I am not aware of?
