hey guys.. So I hit up the Yale Musem of Art last weekend and got to the modern art section... One of the painting was literally a black dot on white canvas and it was supposed to be good modern art.. Got me thinking, have you guys come across any other modern art paintings that made you think, "wtf, I could've drawn that too!"? If so, post links people!

for me as a person with no interest in art is like there is no meaning on this art but as you can see when you look on the perspective side of the artist or a painter you would see the feelings of the artist, dark plain history as he journey through his life colors black and plain canvas as his background, and the other colors were grayish a dull event on his life and the yellow that says somehow there is some events that passed his life for quite sometimes.

this $140 million piece of shit continues to baffle me:

It's a pony, brony. A pony in a dark room with lasers strapped to its head, with the artist slashing at its neck with a razor blade causing it to swing its laser strapped head violently trying desperately to free itself from the madman. Can't you feel the pain the pony feels, the scent of of a terrified equine, the horror and lust of the artist at the violence of his own creation? it's a masterpiece. $140 million is nothing compared to the experience of this painting in person. Painting begins with pain.

You guys made a beginners mistake. What makes a piece of modern art worth 140mil is not the actual piece itself, what makes it worth it is the art of selling it. It's like this with all the pieces weather they are $1000 or $100 mil. You are not buying the piece of art you are buying the sale.

Watch this, the lady is hilarious.

From IMDB; "After semi-truck driver Teri Horton bought a large splatter painting for her friend for $5, she was forced to sell it in her own garage sale when her friend said she had no place for it. Eventually someone commented on the painting stating it might be an original Jackson Pollock."

Also, check out Billy Pappas

what you don't get is that the artist just trolled you into staring at an impressionist imagining of an asshole.

it's the trolling part that makes it art.

Emperor's clothes applies here. I'm sure in 500 years humanity will marvel at shiny red balloon dogs.

Have you been to moma? There's the cellophane candy floor:

LOL and I actually liked the installation where they serve you green curry and rice:
http://www.moma.org/explore/inside_out/2012/02/03/rirkrit-tiravanija-cooking-up-an-art-experience

I was at MOMA a few weeks ago. There was some awesome stuff there, including Van Gogh's Starry Night, and some Munch. They also had this amazing painting:

Then you go to the post-1930 floor and it's like artists just got lazy. Paint a canvas white and say the art is in the minute differences between brush strokes? Add a red stripe? Meh. If I could replicate it myself in <30 minutes, I'm not impressed.

The painting did not exist until I made it. Now that it does exist, nothing would make me happier than to have it reproduced again and again, and vastly improved upon, by all the five-year-olds in town. I would love for your children to find pleasantly and playfully what it took me many angry years to find.

I now give you my word of honor that the picture your city owns shows everything about life which truly matters, with nothing left out. It is a picture of the awareness of every animal. It is the immaterial core of every animal - the 'I am' to which all messages are sent. It is all that is alive in any of us - in a mouse, in a deer, in a cocktail waitress. It is unwavering and pure, no matter what preposterous adventure may befall us. A sacred picture of Saint Anthony alone is one vertical, unwavering band of light. If a cockroach were near him, or a cocktail waitress, the picture would show two such bands of light. Our awareness is all that is alive and maybe sacred in any of us. Everything else about us is dead machinery.
