Edsel, I disagree with your reasoning. They didn't "post a deal," they merely made it available for sale. Others posted the deal on these message boards. Just because their inventory system does not work properly, or the way we would like it to, doesn't place any blame on them. I agree that not pointing out that the drives were returns is not cool, but that' beside the point. If you are unhappy, don't purchase from them. But everyone needs to stop whining every time they don't get the deal that is too good to be true anyway. If you can get in on it, great, but if not, don't cry about it.

First off, Edsel and johnjk, get over yourselves. Like you haven't ever pissed on the toilet seat or broke the speed limit. Nobody's perfect.

Back to the subject of the thread, can anybody report anything good about this deal yet?? Any word if AccessMicro will do something for those who ordered the drive but will not be able to get it??

whats the big deal? so accessmicro was slow to correct their inventory listing. You were not charged on your CC, items were not shipped...only thing that got hurt were the ppl who didn't get on a good deal. Next deal plz! Lets leave this alone sheesh...

accessmicro is fine in my book, who can beat their shipping prices?

I received my first confirmation on 10:03 pm, 1/10, and the second on 10:15 am, 1/11, stating my order was received at 7:51 am, 1/11 (either the internet traffic is too slow, or they really need to get a working clock). Anyway, the status now is pending. That was my first order at accessmicro, we shall see.

I recived 2 emails one saying order was received @ 7:54 1-11
no tracking # one would be emailed not looking good at this point

The csr I talked to said 13. LOL When he said that I just hung up. 2 seconds later and the phone rang and the guy appoligized for us getting disconnected. He was very polite. Offered to help me find another hard drive from their site. I didn't need one that bad, just trying to get a deal. I just installed an IBM 46.1 gig HD last week. I asked if he was gonna make me a deal on a different hard drive. You can guess what the answer was.

Oh well, didn't need it anyway.

1500 orders for 1 returned drive ? It's a very cheap way to have 1500 email addresses for spamming.

Was it ever determined how/why the AnandTech Hot Deals thread URL appeared in AccessMicro's email confirmation notice? The only thing I can think of is that the original poster, Busta, works for or is affiliated with AccessMicro and this entire "deal" was pre-fabricated to gain marketing info (and to move a few returned items). Busta, you legit?

Anyway, I'm glad I'm out of the deal. Went back to Buy.com to get my drive using that $30 coupon mentioned in another thread. Good company, shrink-wrapped drive, full IBM warranty...it's all good now. Whew.

Erik (aka Busta) is a good guy; I've met him, went to his house (we both live in NYC), and bought some computer hardware from him; and no he does not work for AccessMicro, FYI. The deal was too good to be true; end of the story.

Just got my notice from McGlen (aka Accessmicro)
Surprise! They don't have any in stock so my order has been cancelled!
I replied and told them they should not say something is "In Stock" on their site when it is not.
Oh well, too good to be true - or - TGTBT

All you people crying scam watch way too much X-Files. Every time a deal goes sour, it's all a big conspiracy to get your CC number or your personal info. Of course it couldn't be that they just have a pretty crappy inventory system, or anything like that. Get a life, folks.
